2025 New York Yankees Predictions with World Series Odds and Season Win Total Picks

The Yankees were last seen getting dismantled by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series last season. After a lot of momentum heading into the series, the Yankees were completely outmatched by the Dodgers and their poor defensive metrics caught up to them. They did go through the playoffs with relative ease up until the World Series, as they went a combined 7-2 against the likes of the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians. The Yankees also posted the best record in the American League, going 94-68 and winning the AL East by three games.
Despite what they saw out of the top quartet of the Dodgers lineup, the Yankees might have had the best 1-2 punch in the MLB last season. Aaron Judge and Juan Soto proved to be a nightmare for pitchers all season long. Judge led the team and the league with a 10.8 WAR. He also led the league with 58 homeruns, 144 RBIs, 133 walks, and a 1.159 OPS. Soto finished second in the league in walks while also finishing in the Top 10 in WAR (7.9), homeruns (41), and RBIs (109). The two-headed monster in pinstripes put the team atop the league in homeruns, while also ranking third in OPS and runs, in the league. Giancarlo Stanton finished third on the team with 27 homeruns, while Anthony Volpe’s 3.4 WAR finished was also third best on the team.
The Yankees’ pitching staff was solid last season. As a team, they ranked seventh in ERA, ninth in runs allowed, and 12th in WHIP. The ceiling of this unit was lowered with Gerrit Cole being limited to just 17 starts, but rookie Luis Gill stepped up and answered in a big way on his way to winning the AL Rookie of the Year award. Gill went 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA and a 10.1 K/9 ratio. His 3.1 WAR was the best amongst Yankee pitchers. Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes were both inning eaters as they both recorded more than 170 innings while also recording sub-4.00 ERAs and combining for 29 quality starts. Luke Weaver, Tim Hill, and Tommy Kahnle were anchors out of the bullpen, as Weaver led all relievers in pinstripes, with 84 innings, while Hill and Kahnle posted ERAs of 2.05 and 2.11, respectively.

New York Yankees Key Additions/Losses
Their biggest loss is no secret. Juan Soto decided to move down the street and join the Mets, leaving the Yankees with a crater like hole in their lineup. In addition to Soto, they lost Alex Verdugo and Gleyber Torres to free agency. That’s three everyday starters, including your second-best player, and over 13 wins that you are losing out on. That’s not all; they also lost two solid relievers in Kahnle and Clay Holmes. Anthony Rizzo had his club option declined, and they traded away Cortes and catcher Jose Trevino.
In order to fill the gaps in their bullpen, the Yankees acquired Devin Williams from Milwaukee in the Cortes deal. Williams has been the closer since Josh Hader departed from Milwaukee, and now Williams will look to continue his dominant success in that role with the Yankees. The Yankees replaced Cortes with Max Fried, who has been one of the best and most consistent pitchers in the game. They also replaced some of the power lost from Soto by acquiring former MVP and potential wild card, Cody Bellinger. The Yankees also added Paul Goldschmidt to replace Rizzo, and they have taken fliers on veteran pitchers in Tyler Matzek and Carlos Carrasco.
New York Yankees Prospect Outlook
New York is getting older, and their prospect pool isn’t where they want it to be. The Yankees have the 21st ranked farm system in the MLB, and that will soon be affected by the graduation of Jasson Dominguez. Dominguez is the 21st ranked prospect in MLB’s Top 100 Prospect rankings. He is the only Yankees player on this list, and he is slated to be the starting left fielder for the big-league ball club, which means the Yankees will soon have no Top 100 prospects. Gill and Austin Wells are coming off this list. And with Dominguez joining them, the Yankees squad has some young talent to build around. However, they have less than enticing prospects, which could limit their trade capabilities during the season.
New York Yankees X-Factors
A Healthy Rotation- On paper, their rotation is solid. It is inflating the team power rankings and is swelling the expectations of this team. However, their top three guys have all dealt with significant injuries over their careers and have missed extended time almost season to season. Cole is coming off a year where he was limited to just 17 starts, while Fried made just 14 starts in 2023 with the Braves and Rodon was also limited to just 14 starts in 2023, his first year with the Yankees. Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gill are solid anchors to the bottom part of the rotation. However, if the Yankees want to remain as the class of the American League, their top trio will need to stay healthy this season.
Veteran Resurgence- Bellinger, Goldschmidt, and Stanton are all game changers for this lineup. As these veterans age, their production has decreased. Bellinger hasn’t been consistent since winning the MVP, Goldschmidt has been steadily declining, and Stanton just hasn’t looked the same since his Miami days. Five years ago, these three being in the same lineup as Judge would have been incredible to witness. Now we get to witness it, but the trio seems to be past their prime.
New York Yankees Expectations
The Yankees are expected to find their way back to the postseason again this season. With a rotation that begins with Cole and ends with the reigning rookie of the year, the Yankees may be the only club to showcase a rotation that somewhat rivals the Dodgers. Their lineup is a huge problem. It wouldn’t be if the aforementioned veteran trio could replicate their production from years ago, but that is unlikely, and a 1-2 punch of Jazz Chisholm and Judge is not as scary as a Judge/Soto tandem. Regardless, the Yankees will likely be in the playoff picture as the Orioles seem to be the lone division rival that can keep pace with them. However, this team is not a World Series caliber team.
New York Yankees Notable Odds:
Win Total: 93.5
World Series Champions- +750
Pennant Winners- +300
Division Winners- -105
AL MVP- Aaron Judge +300
AL MVP- Cody Bellinger +5500
AL Cy Young- Gerrit Cole +1200
AL Cy Young- Max Fried +2000
2025 New York Yankees Predictions
Judge has the best odds of winning the AL MVP award, and that race got a whole lot easier with his old teammate moving over to the NL. At +300, Judge has value you need to grab before the season starts. Unless Bobby Witt Jr. or Gunnar Henderson take off early, the odds will continue to favor Judge, and the value will be decreasing practically every week. In addition to a Judge AL MVP future, Fried at +2000 to win the AL Cy Young is a great pick as well. Fried is capable of taking home a Cy Young award. And aside from his teammate Cole or Tarik Skubal, there hasn’t been another pitcher in the AL that has been as consistent as Fried. Outside of those two player futures, the Yankees team futures are bleak. The Orioles are going to win the division. And with the injury potential of the rotation paired with the weakness of the lineup, the Yankees will finish below the 93.5 win total mark.
