Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The 18-hole layout at Shanghai Qizhong Garden Golf Club is a Dana Fry collaboration with local designer Jun Lu, which opened for member play in 2013. Fry used his experiences working at Calusa Pines in Florida to transform a similar, naturally flat site by creating several large lakes then using around a million cubic meters of fill to fashion contours around the property. More than half the holes have water in play, with six thousand trees planted to add definition to the course. The course plays at a par 72 and measures over 7,000 yards.
Minjee Lee +900
The 27-year-old rolls into Shanghai ranked 7th overall in the Rolex Rankings. She has 68 career top-10 finishes and has been searching for her 10th career victory on the LPGA Tour. She has three top-10 finishes in the 2023 season including a victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. She also has a runner-up at the Cognizant Founders Cup. She ranks first in greens in regulation, 10th in birdies, and 24th in scoring average. Look for Lee to contend this weekend in Shanghai.
Lilia Vu +1200
Vu has picked up all three of her career victories this season and has been a dominant force on the LPGA Tour. She currently ranks first in the Rolex Rankings and fourth in the CME Ranking. She has picked up wins at the Honda LPGA Thailand, The Chevron Championship, and the AIG Women’s Open. She also has a T7 at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mountain to her credit in March of this season. She ranks 15th in greens in regulation, fourth in Putts per GIR, and 10th in scoring average. All eyes will be on Vu this weekend in Shanghai.
Danielle Kang +3000
Kang, a two-time defending champion in Shanghai, will look to secure the hat trick this weekend. In 2019, she defended her title, beating Jessica Korda by a single stroke. She has had a subpar 2023 season, but this is a great venue for her to get her first win of the season. She has posted 3 top-10 finishes throughout the 2023 season and currently ranks 37th in the Rolex Rankings. Her putter has not faltered this year as she ranks 2nd in Putts per GIR and putting average. There is no better tournament for Kang to get back in form and pick up a victory.
