2024-25 Texas A&M Aggies Basketball Predictions and Odds to Win the National Championship
The Texas A&M Aggies got hot later in the season and secured their spot in the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M won three straight games to close out the regular season and then picked up two wins in the Southeastern Conference Tournament over Ole Miss and #9 Kentucky, before ultimately falling short as they lost to Florida in the semifinals. The Aggies struggled against ranked teams all season, going just 3-7 against AP Top 25 opponents, and they posted a mere 9-9 record in conference play. However, their hot streak at the end of the season earned them the 9-Seed in the South Region. They won their first-round matchup, taking down 8-Seed Nebraska, before coming up just short against 1-Seed Houston, losing in overtime.
The Aggies were the best rebounding team in the nation, leading the way with 42.8 RPG as a team while also leading in offensive rebounds, where they hauled in 17.4 offensive RPG. They needed to have success on the boards, as they were one of the worst shooting teams in the country. They shot just 29.3% from deep and 40.2% from the floor, which ranked 346th in the nation. Wade Taylor IV led the team with 19.1 PPG, which also ranked 50th in the nation. He also led the team in assists and steals. Tyrece Radford averaged 16.5 PPG, joining Taylor as the only Aggies players to average double-digit PPG. Radford was also second on the team in RPG, bringing in 6.5 RPG. Andersson Garcia led the team in rebounds with 9.1 RPG, while shooting 55.2% from the floor.

Texas A&M Aggies Basketball Key Additions/Losses
After putting together a solid season last year, the Aggies will return at nearly full-strength. Their lone loss of significance is their second leading scorer and rebounder as Radford has run out of eligibility. The departure of Radford leaves a huge hole in the Aggies backcourt.
Despite losing only Radford, the Aggies got aggressive in the transfer portal as they push to elevate their team into one of the best in the nation. Texas A&M brought in senior guard Zhuric Phelps, who will help fill the hole left by Radford. Phelps averaged 14.8 PPG at SMU last season while averaging 4.1 RPG, and he also showcases his pickpocketing ability on defense as he averages nearly 1.9 SPG. They also added CJ Wilcher to the backcourt, as the senior guard averaged 7.3 PPG with Nebraska last season. Wilcher will be one of the Aggies main threats from beyond the arc, as he is a career 36.8% 3-Point shooter. In addition to the two transfer guards, they also brought in forward Pharrel Payne who averaged 10 PPG and 6.1 RPG with Minnesota last season while shooting 60.2% from the floor. The Aggies also brought in three Top 200 recruits in four-star guard Andre Mills (91st nationally), and three-start forwards George Turkson Jr. (122nd nationally), and Chris McDermott (151st nationally).
Texas A&M Aggies Basketball X-Factors
Conference Schedule- The Southeastern Conference is an absolute gauntlet, and teams will be beating up on each other left and right. The Aggies will play nine conference games against AP Top 25 opponents, with four of them on the road. The month of January is absolutely brutal for Texas A&M, as five of their eight games are against ranked opponents and four road trips, with stops at Oklahoma, #23 Kentucky, #24 Ole Miss, and #19 Texas. They also host Texas and #2 Alabama in January. That stretch is not the only tough one for the Aggies, as they end the year with three ranked opponents in their last five games. As if the conference play wasn’t enough, the Aggies also play nonconference games against Ohio State, Oregon, #14 Purdue, and #15 Creighton.

Texas A&M Aggies Basketball Predictions
I really like the Aggies this season and think they could push the Crimson Tide for the top spot in the conference standings. They are a veteran squad that relies on doing the little things right, such as controlling the boards and limiting turnovers. They also added a three-point weapon in Wilcher, which gives Texas A&M a boost beyond the arc, where they struggled last season. The Aggies will certainly be battle tested by the time March comes around. However, if this group can stay healthy, they have the experience and the depth to take on any team in the country. They are certainly worth a flier as a Final Four squat at +1900 and have a legit chance of being highly successful come tournament time.
