2024 PGA Picks: Shriners Children’s Open Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
The first three tournaments of the FedEx Cup Fall didn't disappoint. I understand a big reason for that is the low expectations. There's a priceless life lesson for you, and we just got started. Ditch the expectations whenever possible.
The previous three and subsequent five PGA Tour events make up the FedEx Cup Fall, and it's essentially an opportunity for the Tour to shift to a near complete year-round schedule. The biggest opportunities, however, will be for the golfers in the respective fields.
There's a balanced mix of low-level PGA regulars like Lucas Glover, who has cashed two weeks in a row for us. Forty-five-year-old Kevin Streelman finished with him for third place.
We also have rookies and former Korn Ferry Tour guys looking to cement their two-year exemption on the PGA Tour with a win. One of those golfers is Matt McCarty, who, still in his rookie year, secured his first PGA Tour victory last week at the Black Desert Championship.
Let's look at some of the betting odds for the tournament and make some predictions for your pocket.

TPC Summerlin: Course Characteristics
This week, we head to one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country, TPC Summerlin, for the Shriners Children's Open. Just the initiation fee can run you upwards of fifty grand.
Summerlin is a nice neighborhood on the northwest side of Las Vegas. You can enter Red Rock Canyon there or, if you have enough money or status, you can play golf. Vegas does not get the credit it deserves as a gateway to the outdoors. Just bring your sunscreen.
TPC Summerlin is familiar footing for many PGA Tour pros, as this has been the sole course to host the Shriners Children's Open for the past two decades.
With the course designed to cater to the egos of the rich and famous, even the most sinister tweaking for the tournament isn’t enough to stave off low scores.
The changing of the seasons in Las Vegas always brings winds, and it can get chilly pretty quickly if the sun is hiding. We are looking at upwards of 20 MPH winds on Thursday, Friday, and maybe Saturday morning, as well. The hazards generally aren't an issue, but with the winds, it's possible. The biggest challenge for golfers at TPC Summerlin will be keeping the ball in the fairway.
Shriners Children’s Open Betting Picks
Tom Kim: +1200
Speaking of low scores here, South Korea's Tom Kim is the wide betting favorite to win the Shriners Children's Open for a reason. Kim is the two-time defending champion here and the co-owner with his countryman Sungjae Im of the tournament record (-24). Im won it in 2021, so it's already a three-peat for the ROK, the Republic of Korea.
Taylor Pendrith: +2500
Taylor Pendrith is the second-highest betting favorite on the board yet more than double the payout of Kim at 25-1. Pendrith has had the most productive year of any golfer in this field. Kim is an incredible talent, don't get me wrong, but only 22 years old. Pendrith is 33 and finished a career-best 14th in the 2024 FedEx Cup Standings this year, snagging 14 top-25 finishes in just 24 events played.
He followed up a top ten at the Tour Championship at the end of the Summer with two wins at the President’s Cup a few weeks ago.
Adam Hadwin: +4000
Who I like to refer to as the Happy Gilmore of the PGA Tour, former hockey player, and current Canadian Adam Hadwin plays some of his best golf in Vegas. Hadwin has finishes of 4th, 5th, 10th, and 2nd (last year by one stroke) over his previous five appearances at the Shriners Children's Open.
I'm not saying don't bet Kim but if you do, you must also bet Hadwin. Look at the massive difference in payouts and look at that tiny difference a year ago.

Top 40 Finish
Daniel Berger: -110
Daniel Berger's form is the best we've seen in over a year. The former World #12 almost came through for us last week, finishing four strokes outside of the top ten. We had him in a parlay with the previously mentioned Glover for a 22-1 payout.
As disappointing as that was, it's not enough for me to jump off the Berger bus just yet. Time is running out, and he needs a high showing. The only problem is these fields are full of hungry golfers. That's why we aren't getting greedy in the slightest. He is (+160) to finish inside the top 30. Get greedy if you dare, but I'll take the top 40 finish.
