2024 PGA Picks: Waste Management Phoenix Open Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
Another week and another long shot. Wyndham Clark took home the trophy at last week's Pebble Beach Pro-am after a weather-shortened 54 holes. Clark was a 90-1 longshot heading into last week, and that makes five straight events where at least a 90-1 odds player stood victorious. Now, we switch our attention to the Waste Management in Phoenix, Arizona, where World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will look to win this event for a third straight year. We have finally reached the point in the season where the PGA ditches the multi-course rotations and amateurs. This tournament is easily one of the most exciting and fan-friendly events of the entire season. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best predictions from Phoenix below.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
TPC Scottsdale was designed in 1986 by Tom Weiskopf, who won 16 PGA Tour titles, including the Open Championship in 1973. He worked with Jay Morrish on renovations to the course in 2014. One of the most exciting holes in all of golf is the par 3 16th hole. It will be jam-packed with chanting fans in the stands surrounding the entire hole. The course is visually stunning with desert-style rough and water comes into play on six holes. The closing stretch, holes 15-18, provides a ton of excitement with scoreable holes for players chasing victory. TPC Scottsdale plays as a par 71 and measures in at 7,261 yards.
Justin Thomas +1000
JT’s recent form gives optimism for a victory. He should have won at Pebble Beach last weekend if he had made a few more makeable putts on Saturday. Thomas has played at the Waste Management every year since 2015 and has not finished worse than T17 in any of the past six years. His tempo and confidence have returned to his game, and when it does, he consistently leaves himself 10–15-foot birdie attempts as much as anyone on the PGA Tour. Look for Thomas to be in the mix on Sunday.
Jordan Spieth +1800
Plain and simple, Spieth disappointed last week at Pebble Beach. I remain optimistic that the three-time major winner will have a huge 2024 season. The putter let him down last weekend, but he still gained over a stroke in both ball-striking categories. Now he returns to Phoenix, where he has tallied a 4th and 6th-place finish in two out of his last three appearances at TPC Scottsdale. I will gladly roll the dice that his putter heats up this week.
J.T. Poston +3000
Quite frankly, it is absolutely insane the tear Poston has been on. After a weather-shortened Pebble Beach performance, he again finishes inside the top-20 on the leaderboard. That makes eight times out of his last 11 events that he has finished inside the top-20. His putter is a weapon and has become one of the most consistent putters on the PGA Tour. He has played at the Waste Management for five straight seasons with his best finish coming in 2021 with a T11. With that being said, he has never had his current form or momentum in previous WMPO’s.
