The majority of the Ole Miss Rebels’ key contributors from last season decided to give it one more go in an attempt to reach an expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field in 2024. Ole Miss added impact players through the transfer portal at nearly every level, too. They are coming off their first 11-win season ever, and expectations are as high as they have ever been in Oxford. This team is talented, well-coached and battle-tested. The Rebels — at least on paper — have the makings of an SEC contender.

Previewing Ole Miss' Offense for 2024
The defending Peach Bowl champions received a major boost on New Year’s Day when quarterback Jaxson Dart announced he would be returning to Oxford for his senior season. The USC transfer has been the Rebels’ starter the last two seasons and was among the most efficient passers in the country in 2023, throwing for 3,364 yards, 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions with another eight touchdowns on the ground.
He returns three premier receiving options in receivers Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins and tight end Caden Prieskorn, who had a combined 2,175 receiving yards and 15 TDs in 2023. The Rebels also added former All-SEC receiver Antwane Wells Jr. from South Carolina. All-SEC running back Quinshon Judkins transferred to Ohio State, leaving Ulysses Bentley IV (540 yards, four scores in ’23) as the leading returning rusher. Transfers Henry Parrish Jr. (Miami) and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (New Mexico) will push Bentley IV for carries.
Ole Miss returns three full-time starters on the offensive line and added several key pieces through the portal, including former Washington lineman Nate Kalepo, who started 15 games for the Huskies last year.
Previewing Ole Miss' Defense for 2024
Following a 52-17 loss at Georgia, Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin acknowledged that his team needed to get bigger and stronger, particularly up front. The additions of Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen were a step in the right direction.
Nolen is a Texas A&M transfer and was one of the highest-rated players in the portal. Umanmielen was second-team All-SEC last season at Florida and led the Gators with seven sacks. Nolen, Umanmielen, former Alabama cornerback Trey Amos and former Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr. were all ranked as top-50 players in the portal and should provide excitement to a defense already headed in the right direction under coordinator Pete Golding. The Rebels also return starting defensive linemen Jared Ivey and JJ Pegues and safety John Saunders Jr.
Previewing Ole Miss' Specialists for 2024
Kicker Caden Davis hit 18-of-23 field goals last season with a long of 56. Punter Fraser Masin will enter his third season as the team’s punter, having averaged 42.3 yards per punt the last two years.

Ole Miss Football 2024 Win Total Prediction: OVER/UNDER 9.5 Wins
If last year’s team could get to 11 wins - 10-2 in the regular season - this one should be able to do the same with a stronger bunch playing a potentially easier schedule. Yeah, the expanded College Football Playoff is the goal, and anything less will be a massive disappointment. Four of the five road games are against teams that did not go bowling, and almost all the tough games are in Vaught-Hemingway. Last year’s team had to go to Alabama in late September and travel to Georgia in mid-November. This year’s team has Georgia Southern in that September slot and hosts Georgia this time around. But there is no Alabama. There is no Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, or Auburn -- so there is no complaining about not getting the Vanderbilt free space. It will take a few massive biffs and something amazing from an underdog for the Rebels to not be at least 5-1 -- more like 6-0 -- going into the road game at LSU. Again, Georgia is a home game, and so is the date with Oklahoma.

Ole Miss Best Bets
If you are a fan of Kiffin, then you should be excited about the 2024 college football season. All the stars lined up in terms of players returning, attacking the transfer portal, and the schedule. Barring any serious injuries, this team should easily eclipse the 10-win mark in the regular season and glide into the College Football Playoff. It is not a stretch to expect this team to make the SEC Championship Game and make a deep playoff run. With odds of +1400 to win the National Championship and +650 to win the SEC Championship, both bets provide good value for a program that is extremely talented heading into September.
Ole Miss +650 to win the SEC Championship Game and +1400 to win the National Championship
