NFL Worst Team in 2024: Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
NFL futures bets are a lot of fun. Most of them are going to last you for the entire season. For most of us, yes, we are into this to win money, but if we break even over time and the bets make sports more interesting and exciting, it's still a win.
With that said, most of the articles you read and that we write are about the best teams. And if you watch television, you'll probably hear the same points made over and over.
Everybody loves you when you are winning, but who cares about the loser, the biggest loser?
Which NFL team in 2024 do you think will finish the 17-game regular season with the worst record?
One question we have is which of these terrible teams possibly needs a quarterback, and who may be the first to pull the plug on trying to win mid-season?
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
NFL’s Worst Team Betting Odds
New England Patriots: +350
Atop the betting board are the New England Patriots at (+350). I don't know how much I buy this. This is a proud franchise. And with the likelihood of one or more teams tanking down the stretch, I don't see the Pats finishing with the worst record.
Also, I believe their #1 draft pick, Drake Maye, is the most NFL-ready of this QB class should they need to go to him at some point this year. The steady vet Jacoby Brissett is only 31 years old and has a career 2:1 touchdown to interception ratio. The guy does his job well. I don't know why he's playing for his 5th team in 5 years.
If New England didn’t want to win games this year, they wouldn’t have brought him in. We have to pass on the Pats.
Carolina Panthers: +550
I watched as much as I could of the Patriots vs Panthers preseason game last night, and it wasn't even close. People are sleeping on New England this year, but let's move on to the Carolina Panthers.
They looked atrocious in their first preseason game, barely avoiding a shutout with a late 4th quarter field goal. Yes, I know it's the preseason, but I am not a fan of what the Panthers have going on down in Charlotte.
Denver Broncos: +600
The Denver Broncos will end up paying Russell Wilson far too much money. There was nothing extraordinary. He played well.
I mention this because it’s a good example of a time when taking a step back to take several forward is necessary. That is what this team should have done two years ago before they signed him.
Think of all the free cash they would have now. Instead, they will take a cap hit of 88 million dollars over the next two years because of Wilson.
Sean Peyton is a heck of a head coach, but he's not a magician. With that said, he's a winner, and I can't imagine he won't be as much or more competitive as every one of his head coaching counterparts this season.
Tennessee Titans: +800
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has a lot of haters out there, and I don't see why. He had eight touchdowns and only four picks last year in 9 games. He aired it out quite a bit, averaging close to 30 pass attempts per game.
The physical tools are clearly there for him, and he has yet to show us that he can't handle the mental and emotional side of the game.
What will hurt the Tennessee Titans more than anything this year is the firing of their highly successful, considering his circumstances head coach Mike Vrabel. That was a mistake, and it will show.
New York Giants: +1000
The New York Giants could be in the market for a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. They may also part ways with head coach Brian Daboll by season's end. The G-Men aren't a bad play here at 10-1 to be the worst team in the NFL.
Washington Commanders: +1100
The Commanders will have one of the worst offensive lines in the league this year, and I predict rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels will get banged up. I don't see them as the absolute worst in the league, though.
Las Vegas Raiders: +1200
Seeing this makes me feel better as I am fading the Raiders in many spots this year. I don't think they are this bad, nor will they be the very worst.
Arizona Cardinals: +1600
Kyler Murray is back healthy and has a generational talent, pun intended, with Marvin Harrison Jr. to throw to.
Picks
Carolina Panthers: +550
Carolina could be in the market for a quarterback by mid-season. Bryce Young has been underwhelming and ineffective. In my opinion, the Panthers are the worst team in the NFL in 2024.
New York Giants: +1000
If this team gets off to a terrible start, they may let Daboll go, replace him with a figurehead essentially, and tank the rest of the games for the #1 pick. For their sake, let’s hope it’s not another Daniel Jones.
