Team to Finish with NFL Worst Record? Odds and Predictions
Well, it's about that time of year. I apologize ahead of time if I speak of your favorite team unfavorably. We've got some stinkers, especially at the top of the betting board. Our job today is to use our noses to decipher which teams noticeably stink from the ones who may just need a shower.
It's now Week 15, every NFL team has had their bye week, and everyone has four games remaining on the regular season schedule. There are currently six teams with three wins, four with two wins, and the Chicago Bears have four. I thought about leaving them off the list, but they failed to reach triple-digit yardage on the ground or through the air against a reeling Niners team last week.
As you might imagine, the New York Giants sit atop the list at the moment. The stench they’re putting off smells a lot like regret. However, with the Daniel Jones saga finally behind them, this team is ready to draft their next franchise quarterback.
The Las Vegas Raiders have just three victories, and that's surprising, honestly. I say this not because Antonio Pierce is somehow still the head coach but because their defense is made up of a bunch of savages, led, of course, by Maxx Crosby. Vegas isn't a unit I see giving up on themselves as quickly as the G-Men, hence the betting odds.

Betting Odds to Finish the 2024 NFL Season With the Worst Record
New York Giants: -140
The writing is on the wall for New York. It's been fun fading them this year, and we can double down even harder on that winning strategy from here on out. Losers of eight straight games, the Giants' remaining schedule runs through the Ravens, Colts, Falcons, and Eagles.
If this team has any fight left in them, I can see the only elite unit on the team, the defensive line, giving Anthony Richardson and the Colts a hard time.
Las Vegas Raiders: +280
The Raiders are holding strong with the Giants at 2-11, but they have a game with the Jacksonville Jaguars remaining. If you saw the struggle to lose last week in the Jags vs Titans game, you can imagine how smelly it will get over the next month.
New England Patriots: +850
The Pats are sitting here at 3-10, but they play Buffalo twice over the next four weeks, as well as the Cardinals and Chargers, two potential playoff teams.
Carolina Panthers: +1200
Bryce Young said hold on a minute because he isn't done showing out this year. After another abysmal start to the season, the team appeared to move on from the former Alabama star quarterback, especially when they replaced him with Andy Dalton, the definition of a lame-duck QB.
The Panthers are playing like a playoff team right now, though. I can’t imagine them slipping to the worst record in the NFL.
Cleveland Browns: +1200
Cleveland has the Chiefs this week, then the Bengals and Dolphins before they wrap up the season against a revengeful Ravens team. If you want to take a team in this price range, I like the Browns better than Carolina or New England.
Tennessee Titans: +1700
They allowed themselves to lose to the Jags 10-6 on Sunday. They can do it again. However, the Titans defense remains out for blood.
Jacksonville Jaguars: +2200
Jacksonville finishes the season up with games opposite the Jets, Raiders, Titans, and Colts. They could lose all of them and still not have the worst record in the league.
New York Jets: +2500
I apologize to anyone who tailed my Jets picks. We did a lot of primetime games to start the season, and we kept expecting them to turn it around, but it never happened.
Chicago Bears: +30000
The Bears messed up when they brought Matt Eberflus back from last season. I did hear an interesting take from Rich Eisen. He said let's re-draft the Top 10, and I think we still have to say that Caleb Williams would go #1.
His ceiling is still there and appears to be higher than his peers. He has a stronger arm than Drake Maye and is more durable than Jayden Daniels.
Best Bets to Finish the 2024 NFL Season with the Worst Record
New York Giants: -140
It isn't the time to focus our best bets on value plays. New York has been the worst team in the NFL this year, and they haven't won a game since the first week in October. Their pass rush is their only strength. And since the rest of the team is ineffective, the edge guys and Dexter Lawrence never get the chance to pin their ears back.
Las Vegas Raiders: +280
I would put most of your money on the Giants but throw a few bones down on the Raiders. They have the same number of losses, and yes, they've played hard for much of the year, but this week is different with the Jaguar loss.
Jacksonville did control their destiny for the first pick in the draft until Sunday. It's not wide open, but let's say both the Raiders and Giants lose out. You would still get your money back because this bet is for the worst record, not the first pick in the draft.
New England Patriots: +850
Yes, we scoffed at the value picks because, with just four games remaining, the Raiders and Giants would have to lose one. Bet 21.00 dollars on the Patriots to win 200.00 here. Even if the first pick seems out of reach, I can see an intelligent drafting organization like New England tanking, regardless. They might get that first pick, trade down, and find their own Travis Hunter in the third round.
