NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 6: Advice and Predictions
The 2024-25 NFL season has been one of the most difficult seasons for survivor pools in recent memory. The underdogs were ripping off upset after upset to begin the season and have shown no signs of slowing down. The two biggest underdogs of Week 5, the Giants (+6.5) and Cardinals (+7.5), both upset the Seahawks and 49ers, respectively. We correctly faded the 49ers last week, putting the Commanders, Chiefs, and Ravens ahead of them in our power rankings. There are less than 2% of all survivor pool entries still alive, so the stakes couldn’t be higher heading into Week 6. Here are your week 6 survivor pool picks ranked from most to least confident.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Houston Texans (-7) Over New England Patriots
The Texans are the strongest pick to make this week, as the lowly Patriots offense will be unable to put up much of a fight. Houston pulled out a victory against the Bills last week and has all the offensive pieces needed to pick apart New England. The Patriots team total is sitting at 13.5 points, which should tell you all you need to know about this team.
Philadelphia Eagles (-8.5) Over Cleveland Browns
It’s hard to trust the Eagles with your survivor pool life. However, they are head and shoulders better than the Browns. There is a serious conversation ongoing about benching Deshaun Watson, but the Browns issues are far deeper than their quarterback. Philadelphia’s towering defensive line will put Watson under pressure all game long. A surging NFC East means the Eagles won’t have many easy victories left on their schedule, and they are a great pick for the upcoming week.
Atlanta Falcons (-6) Over Carolina Panthers
Atlanta is coming into this one with not only a rest advantage, but a serious skill advantage where it matters most. The Panthers pulled out a victory with Andy Dalton, but it’s not time to start pretending they are suddenly a good team. The Falcons are in the middle of a tight race at the top of the NFC South, and a loss to the lowly Panthers isn’t something they can afford. Road teams in divisional games are always daunting to tail, but the Falcons are another safe pick for this week.
Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) Over New York Giants
If you want to avoid the popular picks this week, the Bengals are a good option to take. Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense may only be 1-2 across their last 3 games, but they scored 33, 34, and 38 points. The Bengals defense has been letting them down, but they will do enough to overcome the Giants on Sunday Night Football. The Bengals still have playoff hopes, but the reality is they are 1-4. If they lose this one, the season is over. Burrow will get enough help from his defense to hold on in this primetime thriller.
Indianapolis Colts (-1) Over Tennessee Titans
The Colts have their flaws, but they are still good enough to beat the Titans in Week 6. Indianapolis will have either Joe Flacco or Anthony Richardson at quarterback, both of whom are good enough to outduel Will Levis and the Titans. Tennessee will be feeling great after beating the Dolphins in Week 4, but all the rest in the world won’t be enough to cover up their offensive shortcomings.
Denver Broncos (+3) Over LA Chargers
I know the underdog is not the ideal survivor pool selection, but this pick could set you up nicely for the rest of the season. The Broncos have won three straight games thanks to strong defensive play, while the Chargers are still searching for consistency. Justin Herbert is a shadow of his former self, and the Chargers defense has been picked apart by almost everyone this season. This would be a massive divisional victory for Denver, and they are a good contrarian survivor pool pick this week.
Green Bay Packers (-5) Over Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals pulled off a nice upset against the 49ers last week, but lightning will not strike twice against the Packers. Green Bay has a very strong run game, and their only losses this season came to the Eagles and 5-0 Vikings. Jordan Love looks to have shaken off his arm injury, and a loud Lambeau Field will see the Packers pick up a valuable victory.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) Over Las Vegas Raiders
It’s hard to trust the Steelers against competent opposition, but their strong defense is almost always good enough to beat up on the bottom feeders. The Raiders are certainly that, and it’s hard to imagine Las Vegas getting anything going offensively. The Steelers have a tough set of games left on their schedule, and this will be one of the last times to use them if you haven’t already.
Detroit Lions (-3.5) Over Dallas Cowboys
A rested Lions offense will be able to beat the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. Jared Goff is coming off a perfect game in Week 4, and the Lions offense is poised to rip the Cowboys apart. Dallas needed a miracle to beat the Steelers last week, and they will not get the same fortune against a motivated Lions team.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+2) Over Chicago Bears
The Jaguars are playing at their home away from home, as they have gotten quite used to playing in Europe. Caleb Williams has only just started to get adjusted to the NFL, and he will be unable to play with consistency in his first international game of his career. The Jaguars roster has been there and done that before, and they will keep their faint playoff hopes alive with a valuable victory.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) Over New Orleans Saints
The winner of this game will get a massive advantage in the race for the NFC South at the end of the season. Both teams will be playing with maximum intensity, and the slight edge goes to the Buccaneers. It’s a risky survivor pool pick to make, but the poise Baker Mayfield has shown in the pocket makes this still a suitable option.
Buffalo Bills (-2.5) Over New York Jets
The Bills threw the game away against the Texans last week, and they will not make the same mistake on Monday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers is clearly not who he once was, and this Jets defense keeps falling short. However, there will be much better opportunities to use the Bills this season, so it is best to look elsewhere.
San Francisco 49ers (-3) Over Seattle Seahawks
The 49ers have lost three of their last four games, and there isn’t really a light at the end of the tunnel. A loss to the Seahawks would see the division slip further away from their grasp, and I think they will find a way to win. The Seattle defense is mediocre at best, and Brock Purdy will have a bounceback game on Thursday.
Baltimore Ravens (-6.5) Over Washington Commanders
These are the two hottest teams in football. Please stay away.
