NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 10: Advice and Predictions
The NFL season has officially entered the second half, and staying alive in your survivor pools has gotten increasingly more difficult with each passing week. Approximately 1% of survivor pool entries are still alive after the New Orleans Saints loss to the Panthers eliminated another chunk or remaining entries. Our top four picks from last week all won outright, as the Bengals (-7.5), Bills (-6.5), Ravens (-9), and Chiefs (-9) all took care of business at home. The Chiefs are coming into week 10 as -8 point favorites, with the rest of the NFL spreads all coming in at a touchdown or shorter. Here are your survivor pool picks for all 14 matchups ranked from most to least confident in week 10.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
Kansas City Chiefs (-8) Over Denver Broncos
The Kansas City Chiefs are the biggest favorites of the week and are the most confident selection you can make. They are 8-0 to start the season, and there is rarely a bad time to use up a team like the Chiefs. Their defense has been dominant all season long, and the Broncos have lost 16 of their last 17 games against Kansas City. This is based on the assumption Patrick Mahomes is good to go, so if you have to make your survivor pool pick before that is confirmed look elsewhere this week.
Chicago Bears (-6) Over New England Patriots
The Bears have dropped back to back games but are a solid selection in week 10. Chicago cannot afford to lose against the lowly Patriots if they want to keep their slim NFC North hopes alive. New England’s offense is abysmal, and they will struggle to get anything going against a strong Bears defensive front. Chicago has a pretty difficult schedule left this season, so if you haven’t yet used the Bears, this is a great week to do so.
Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) Over New Orleans Saints
The Falcons are a perfect 4-0 against their division this season, and the Saints look like easy pickings for them this weekend. New Orleans has dropped 7 straight games and were serious sellers at the NFL trade deadline. The front office is already looking ahead to next season and the Falcons are a solid choice for this week. However they still have games against the Panthers, Raiders, and Giants this season, meaning it is probably wiser to save them for a tougher week down the line.
LA Chargers (-7) Over Tennessee Titans
The Chargers strong defense will be enough to pick up the win against Tennessee. Justin Herbert has been consistent on offense which has allowed the Chargers defense to play with a lead and build confidence heading into the second half of the year. The Titans don’t generate enough turnovers to really challenge the Chargers, which will allow them to cruise to an easy victory. Do not hesitate to use up the Chargers this week in your survivor pool.
Buffalo Bills (-4) Over Indianapolis Colts
The quarterback is the most important position in football, and the edge the Bills have in that department will be too much for the Colts to overcome. Josh Allen is playing MVP caliber football in Buffalo, while the Colts can’t decide between Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco under center. The indecision this season hasn’t cost the Colts against the bottom feeders, but they will not be able to pull off the upset against the Bills. There are several good options this week, and it is wiser to save the Bills for the future if you haven’t used them yet.
Philadelphia Eagles (-7) Over Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles haven’t been as dominant as they once were, but it’s hard to see them losing to a Cowboys team missing Dak Prescott. Dallas has struggled on both sides of the ball this year and time is running out for them to make a late playoff push. This -7 point spread is certainly too wide for a road team in a divisional game, but that doesn’t matter in your survivor pool. The Eagles will find a way to beat the Cowboys, piling on more misery for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys front office.
Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) Over Miami Dolphins
The Rams have been playing consistent football on both sides of the field, and have come up with big plays when they need them most. Despite losing Puka Nacua to an ejection, the Rams offense did enough to beat the Seahawks in Week 9. If they show anywhere close to the same level of grit against the Dolphins, they will make it look easy on Monday night. Not too many easy games left on LA’s schedule, making this the perfect contrarian pick this week.
Minnesota Vikings (-5.5) Over Jacksonville Jaguars
The Vikings keep on finding new ways to win games while the Jaguars keep finding new ways to shoot themselves in the foot. Jacksonville has had a miserable season so far and a visit from the Vikings will not give them any relief. The job security for both Trevor Lawrence and head coach Doug Pederson is quickly diminishing, and it’s really hard to see the Jaguars beating the Vikings outright on Sunday.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+3) Over Washington Commanders
Fading the hottest team in football with your survivor pool life on the line is a daunting task. However, the Steelers are a nightmare matchup for the Commanders this week. JJ Watt will get his hands on Jayden Daniels in the pocket and without his scrambling ability the Commanders will struggle to move the football. Pittsburgh is the type of team known for taking down these offenses, and the Commanders don’t have the defense to retaliate. This will not be a popular one this week, but could set you up nicely for smooth sailing down the stretch.
Detroit Lions (-3.5) Over Houston Texans
The Texans had a lot of momentum to start the year, but injuries to their receivers have derailed their Super Bowl aspirations. Meanwhile, the Lions are eager to get back to the NFC championship and securing the #1 seed is the best way to do so. Detroit will be able to pick up the victory on Sunday night football as they are the better team on both sides of the ball. Houston usually has a few tricks up their sleeve, but the dominance from the Lions cannot be faded at this stage of the year.
New York Jets (+1) Over Arizona Cardinals
The Jets kept their season alive with a victory against Houston last week, and they will need more heroics to avoid slipping out of playoff contention. Arizona has been surging but it hasn’t been due to strong play from them specifically. They haven’t been making mistakes and have instead played simple football. A desperate Jets team will show no mercy by running up the score against the Cardinals.
San Francisco 49ers (-5.5) Over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The 49ers are relatively low on my confidence list this week and for good reason. Christian McCaffrey is expected to return this week, but an ever-changing 49ers offense cannot be trusted against the reliable Baker Mayfield. Tampa Bay’s offense hasn’t missed a beat since losing Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, and this will be a back and forth contest this weekend. I give the slight edge to the 49ers based on their superior defense, but this isn’t one that should be touched this week.
Baltimore Ravens (-6) Over Cincinnati Bengals
Another strong team that should be avoided. The Bengals are playing desperate football and a win over the Ravens would go a long way in keeping their season alive. I expect the Ravens to find a way to win, but there is no reason to use up a weekly favorite like the Ravens in a matchup like this.
Carolina Panthers (+6) Over New York Giants
I am begging you not to try and get cute by using the Giants this week. This large spread will tempt people into attempting to use the lowly Giants in Germany, but don’t fall into that trap. There are much better options available and there is no reason to even consider using the Giants at any point this season, regardless of the venue and/or opponent.
