Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) Over Los Angeles Rams
The Minnesota Vikings suffered their first loss of the season against the Detroit Lions last week, but they will get back on track against the Rams. Los Angeles has been able to string a few wins together this season, but they still lack the defense needed to pull off a victory against the Vikings. Sam Darnold has been a consistent quarterback this season and the Vikings defense will not allow the Rams to generate offense of their own. Vikings 24, Rams 17
Arizona Cardinals (+3) Over Miami Dolphins
The Cardinals have a consistent defense that will allow them to get the cover against the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return for the Dolphins, but he will not be at full strength in his first game back. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are back in the race for the NFC West crown, and they have a more complete roster compared to Miami. Cardinals 20, Dolphins 17
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2.5) Atlanta Falcons
The Buccaneers had a disastrous Monday Night Football, losing both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to injury. While the entire world will be on the Falcons here, this is exactly the type of game Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers have won in recent years. The Tampa Bay defense is better than they showed against Baltimore, and they will bounce back nicely with a massive divisional victory. Buccaneers 25, Falcons 23
Baltimore Ravens (-10.5) Over Cleveland Browns
The Ravens have rattled off five straight victories since their 0-2 start and look like the most complete team in the league. The helpless Cleveland Browns are going in the complete opposite direction and will not stand a chance against Baltimore. The Ravens have the better offense, defense, head coach, and quarterback. Even with a double digit spread on the road, the Ravens are the play. Ravens 28, Browns 6
Green Bay Packers (-4.5) Over Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars may have been able to get their second win of the season in London last week, but that was against the lowly New England Patriots. The Green Bay Packers are a much tougher task, and the Jaguars will fall short once again. Jordan Love has proven he is the quarterback of the future for the Packers and will cruise to a double digit victory in Jacksonville. Packers 28, Jaguars 13
Indianapolis Colts (+6) Over Houston Texans
The Colts have already surpassed expectations this season and an upset against the Texans would go a long way in their chase for the AFC South title. Houston deserves to be healthy favorites here, but these divisional games can often produce funky results. This spread is long enough for the Colts to get the cover even if they don’t pull off the win. Anthony Richardson was rusty in his return from injury last week, but a fully functional Richardson will go toe-to-toe with Stroud in Houston. Texans 34, Colts 32
New England Patriots (+7) Over New York Jets
There is no denying the Patriots are one of the worst teams in the league, but the Jets really aren’t too far ahead of them in the power rankings. After another offensive stinker from New York on Sunday night, it isn’t unrealistic to expect the Patriots defense to slam the door at home. There is absolutely no way the Jets deserve to be touchdown favorites on the road this week. Not only will the Patriots cover, but they will walk it off with a last second field goal from Nick Polk. Patriots 20, Jets 17
Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5) Over Philadelphia Eagles
Both of these teams are desperate for a victory, and it will be the Bengals that win and cover this short spread. Philadelphia beat the Packers in the opening week but have since gone 3-2 with their three victories coming against 2-5, 2-5, and 1-6 opposition. The Bengals have started to turn up the heat in the midway point of the season and they will not be denied by the Eagles here. Bengals 28, Eagles 20
Tennessee Titans (+10.5) Over Detroit Lions
The Lions play far too casual football to get spreads like these. Dan Campbell’s trickery helps them pull off upsets, but it can also cause them to allow teams back into the game. The Titans offense is competent enough to put up some points, and they will cover this spread by the finest of margins. Lions 27, Titans 17
Buffalo Bills (-3) Over Seattle Seahawks
Josh Allen went 4 of 11 through the air in the first half last week, and the Bills still scored 34 points by the end of the game. The Buffalo offense is inevitable, and the Seahawks defense cannot be trusted in this matchup. Geno Smith and co. have been able to outscore their defensive lapses, but that will not be enough against the upper echelon of the NFL. Bills 34, Seahawks 27
New Orleans Saints (+7.5) Over LA Chargers
The Chargers deserve to be the favorites here, but there is no way this spread should be more than a touchdown. The Chargers offense is battered and bruised, and they will be unable to pull away from New Orleans. The Saints have lost five straight games, but the Chargers haven’t won a game by more than 7 points since a Week 2 victory against the Panthers. Chargers win, Saints cover. Chargers 20, Saints 14
Denver Broncos (-8.5) Over Carolina Panthers
The Broncos defense has carried them to a 4-3 start this season and they have a very winnable game against the Panthers this week too. Carolina is once again flirting with some of the worst NFL seasons of all time, as they have been historically bad in first halves this year. The Broncos will put up a few touchdowns in the opening frame, then lean on their defense to keep the Panthers out of the endzone. Broncos 20, Panthers 3
Washington Commanders (+2.5) Over Chicago Bears
Jayden Daniels is questionable for this matchup, but we will take a risk on the Commanders in Week 8. If Daniels plays, they instantly become field goal favorites against the Browns, giving us some nice upside. However, Marcus Mariotta is a fantastic backup and was able to drop 40 points against the Panthers last week. A 40 point outburst is unlikely from whoever suits up for Washington, but the Bears still can’t be trusted in the road favorite role. Commanders 27, Bears 24
Kansas City Chiefs (-10) Over Las Vegas Raiders
This isn’t the same Chiefs team we’ve seen in recent years. Their defense has taken it to the next level and has almost let the league forget about how poorly Patrick Mahomes is playing. Kansas City is still undefeated on the year and that will not be changing in Las Vegas. This is a big spread to cover but it is something the Chiefs have done time and time again all year long. Chiefs 24, Raiders 9
Dallas Cowboys (+4.5) Over San Francisco 49ers
The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for the Cowboys. They have been able to assess their blowout loss against the Lions and will be back with vengeance against the 49ers. San Francisco lost Brandon Aiyuk for the season and Christian McCaffrey is still on IR. A once formidable 49ers offense is no more, and they are getting a little bit too much respect with this line. Cowboys 28, 49ers 27
New York Giants (+6) Over Pittsburgh Steelers
This is a game the Steelers will be able to win but a cover is a different story. The Giants offense is in shambles, but that won’t prevent their defense from slamming the door on Russell Wilson and the Steelers. This will be a punt-filled Monday Night Football matchup with the Giants getting the cover to wrap up Week 8. Steelers 13, Giants 10
2024 Season record: 51-52-3
