NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 15
Welcome to Doc's Sports weekly NFL Confidence Pool, where we pick the NFL team we believe will win and assign a point value based on the confidence of that pick. We followed up our fantastic Thanksgiving week with a solid 10-3 record with 83 points out of a possible 91. All of the bye weeks have been used. Therefore, from here on out, every team plays each week.
Doc’s Sports offers NFL expert picks for every game on our NFL predictions page.
16 points— Baltimore over NY Giants: The Ravens are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games following a bye week. The Giants are dead last in points scored (14.9 ppg) and 29th in defensive rushing (141 ypg) and will not be able to stop the Ravens' run game, averaging 179 ypg, 2nd-best in the NFL.
15 points—Kansas City over Cleveland: The Chiefs are an amazing 18-1 in their last 19 games, including a 9-1 SU road mark. The Brownies are 29th in scoring (17.8 ppg) and 26th in points allowed (25.8 ppg).
14 points— Minnesota over Chicago (MNF): The Bears are winless this season on the road (0-6) and are traveling to Minnesota, where the Vikings are just one game behind the lead in the division and overall NFC home-field advantage.
13 points— Washington over New Orleans: This game is a good matchup for the Commanders, who are 4th in scoring (28.9 ppg) and 3rd in offensive rushing (156 ypg). The Saints are 3-8 SU/ATS in their last 11 games
12 points— Arizona over New England: Arizona is 6-4 SU in their last 10 home games when they are favored by 6 points or more. The Patriots have struggled scoring this season, averaging 17.0 ppg, next-to-last in the NFL.
11 points— Denver over Indianapolis: If Indy QB Anthony Richardson got tired during the Colts game against New Orleans, he might never leave the oxygen bottle when playing in Denver. The Broncos are 7-3 SU/8-2 ATS in their last 10 games.
10 points— Philadelphia over Pittsburgh: Philadelphia might be the "City of Brotherly Love," but they don't extend that hospitality to their fellow Pennsylvanian brothers from Pittsburgh, as the Eagles are 10-0 SU against their last 10 meetings against the Steelers in Philadelphia.
9 points— Detroit over Buffalo: Buffalo has had a tough road trip, going out to Los Angeles and losing to the Rams last week 44-42 and now heading to Detroit to take a Lions' squad that is 16-4 SU in their last 20 home games, including a current 5-game winning streak.
8 points— Atlanta over Las Vegas (MNF): This is the second game this week on Monday night. The good news for Las Vegas is that Atlanta has gone 5-15 SU in their last 20 games outside the "Dirty Dirty." The bad news for the Raiders is the Falcons are 5-0 SU in their last five meetings.
7 points— Green Bay over Seattle (SNF): Green Bay is 5-1 SU/5-0-1 ATS in its last 6 games against Seattle. Seattle is 4-1 SU/1-4 ATS in their last 5 games. The Seahawks can move the ball through the air, as they are 3rd in the league in passing (249 ypg). However, this hasn't translated to points, as they are 15th in offensive scoring, with 23.2 ppg.
6 points—Cincinnati over Tennessee: Cincinnati is making its yearly late-season push for the playoffs. In their last 13 games in December, the Bengals are 10-3 SU. Tennessee interestingly has the top defense against the pass, allowing 175 ypg, and the 13th against the run, with 116 ypg. This impressive defensive performance, however, isn't reflected in their fifth-worst scoring defense, at 26.3 ppg.
5 points— LA Rams over San Francisco (TNF): The Rams love Thursday night games, as they are 7-2 SU in their last 9 Thursday night games, including a win against San Francisco in 2017. Even though the Niners are 6-7 and still alive for the NFC West title, only two of their six victories this season are against teams above .500.
4 points— LA Chargers over Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay is 4-8 SU in its last 12 games against the Chargers and has the NFL's top-ranked scoring defense at 15.9 ppg. The Bucs are strong offensively: 5th in the league in scoring (27.9 ppg) and 3rd in total offensive yards (379.3 ypg). Unfortunately, they have been abysmal on defense, allowing 23.8 ppg (22nd) and 368.5 ypg (28th).
3 points—Miami over Houston: While I'm always uneasy taking Miami because of Tua's concussion issues, over the last five games, he has been the second-best quarterback in the NFL, with 1,508 yards, 12 TDs, and just 1 INT. Miami is 4-1 SU/3-2 ATS during that stretch.
2 points— Dallas over Carolina: I almost said somebody has to win this game until I remembered I'm not Donovan McNabb, and that ties occur in the NFL. As bad as the Cowboys have been this season, they are 4-2 SU on the road. Dallas is even better when visiting Carolina, where the Cowboys are 5-1 SU over the last six meetings. The Panthers have played two of the best teams in the NFL tough, losing 30-27 to Kansas City and falling 22-16 against Philadelphia last week.
1 point— Jacksonville over NY Jets: I feel bad for the fans who paid money to see this. The Jets are 1-6 SU on the road this season, averaging almost a point less than their 19.3 ppg (25th). The Jags are 5-1 SU in their last six home games against the Jets.
