2024 LPGA Picks: Meijer LPGA Classic Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
Last week’s ShopRite LPGA Classic finished with one of the most historic final-round performances in LPGA history. Sweden’s Linnea Strom shot an amazing 11-under-par on Sunday to set the clubhouse lead at -14. It was the lowest final round ever on tour, and her final round score of 60 finished second all-time by only one stroke off Annika Sorenstam’s 59 in 2001. No one was able to catch the 14-under-par mark, and Strom broke the record for the biggest positional final-round comeback in the process. Now the tour heads to Michigan for this week’s Meijer LPGA Classic before next week’s third major of the season. There is a very solid field for this upcoming week, headlined by Nelly Korda and her five victories this season. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best action for this upcoming week at the Wolverine State.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
Blythefield Country Club was designed by the duo of William Langford and Theodore Moreau in 1929 and underwent extensive renovations in 2020 at the hands of Chris Wilczynski. The changes to the layout included the fairways being widened, trees removed to open playing corridors, and bunkers were repositioned and rebuilt to make them more strategic. Those changes did not make the course play more difficult as the average winning score since 2018 is 21-under-par. The track plays as a par 72 and measures 6,556 yards. Blythefield Country Club features eight par 4s, five par 5s, and five par 3s. The poa/bentgrass mixed greens are the real challenge of this course as the greens are speedy and protected by bunkers. Water only comes into play on one hole, and it is easy to understand why scoring can get so low.
Nelly Korda +400
Taking Korda might feel like a cop out, but 4-1 odds are somewhat enticing. Korda is on the same planet as Scottie Scheffler, as she has dominated the LPGA this season with five total victories. In the nine events that she has participated in this year, she has eight top-16 finishes. She currently ranks 1st in Greens in Regulation, 18th in total birdies made, and 1st in overall scoring average. Since 2017, Korda has played the Meijer LPGA Classic five times. In those appearances, she has tallied four top-nine finishes, including a victory in 2021. Look for Korda to claim victory number six on the season this weekend in Michigan.
Ayaka Furue +1200
Furue heads to Michigan in great form after finishing in 2nd-place last week at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic. She has three top-seven finishes this season, and she has been striking the ball wonderfully. Her past three events she has registered a T2, T6, and a T7. The 2022 Rookie of the Year ranks 19th in the Rolex Rankings and 3rd in the CME Rankings. She has made the cut in all 13 events that she has played in this year and ranks fourth in Fairways Hit and seventh in Putting Average. Look for Furue to give another star-effort this week at Blythefield.
Leona Maguire +3500
Maguire will be on my card this week strictly because of course history and her 35-1 price tag. After finishing in 12th-place at the Founders Cup, she has missed the past two cuts, but she is striking the ball beautifully off the tee. Her electric short game will keep her around and in contention this week as she ranks 12th around-the-greens and 25th in putting. In her three appearances at this course, she has two 2nd-place finishes, and her victory last season. She has recorded 11 rounds of scores in the 60s out of 12 total rounds at Blythefield. There is no reason why Maguire cannot play well this weekend at a course she is extremely comfortable with.
