2024 LPGA Picks: The Chevron Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
The LPGA will kick off their first major this week in similar fashion to the PGA Tour. The Masters saw World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler dominate the competition en route to the Green Jacket, and you can make the argument that Nelly Korda is currently in the same realm as Scheffler. Korda is a heavy favorite (as was Scheffler) after winning her fourth tournament in a row. She looks invincible right now and is the first player to win four in a row since Lorena Ochoa in 2008, and the first American to do so since Nancy Lopez in 1978. Can anyone stop or contain Korda? There are plenty of in-form players looking for a major championship this week. Doc’s Sports will break down all the action below.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The Chevron Championship was always staged at Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills Country Club before the Nicklaus Course at Carlton Woods became the new host last year. Jack Nicklaus designed the course in 2001 and his team returned to renovate the layout after last year’s major. They installed new greens to USGA specifications, upgraded the bunkers with several being enlarged, added bunkers to the 7th, 9th, and 16th holes, and levelled the tee boxes. The layout plays as a par-72 and measures in at 6,889 yards. This was the longest course on the LPGA Tour last season. It possesses 10 par-4s, four par-5s, and four par-3s. The course was challenging in 2023 as 10-under par was good enough for a playoff. Water comes into play on nine holes and the sloping greens makes putting harder than usual. The 18th hole is a great finish as it is a par five and players must decide to go for it or layup with water and bunkers present.
Patty Tavatanakit +2800
Tavatanakit is looking for her second Chevron Championship of her career and she is priced nicely at 28-1 odds. She started the 2024 campaign with a 42nd-place finish in the LPGA Drive On Championship, but kicked it into high gear winning by seven strokes at the Saudi Ladies International. She then went on to win the following week for back-to-back victories at the Honda LPGA Thailand. She has been solid ever since registering an 8th-place finish at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, 4th-place at the Singapore Women’s Open, and 22nd in the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship. She is one of the longest players on tour ranking 6th in driving distance and 5th off-the-tee. She ranks 5th in par-5 scoring, which will be a huge factor at this major. She finished 41st here last season, but her game was in an awful place. With the way she has been striking the ball and playing in ’24, there is no reason not to like her this week.
Yuka Saso +3000
Saso has massively improved her iron game into the greens and looks poised to compete this week for a major title. She missed the cut here last season, but had two top-3 finishes in other majors after this tournament. Saso has not missed a cut this year and has a 7th-place finish in the Saudi Ladies International. Since then, she has recorded five top 30s in a row leading into this major. Her approach game has improved so much that she went from ranking outside the top-80 to ranking 34th. Add in the fact that she ranks 2nd in par-5 scoring, she gives us every reason to believe that the long-hitter can contend this year at Carlton Woods.
Hannah Green +6000
My dark horse for the week is Australia’s Hannah Green at 60-1 odds. She can rely on her stelar putting and iron play to claim a second major title this week for her career. She started the season with a disappointing 54th-place finish in Thailand, but drilled a 30-foot putt the following week on her final hole to win the HSBC Women’s World Championship for her fourth-career LPGA victory. She looked good the last time we saw her with a top-25 finish at the Ford Championship. She ranks 16th on the greens and is top 26 in both GIR and approach. Green also ranks 21st in driving distance. She has created a very strong profile for this mammoth of a course. She is highly capable of winning her second major this week.
