Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The Tanjong Course at the Sentosa Golf Club measures in at 6,740 yards, which is even longer than last week’s event. For the second week in a row, power off the tee box and driving accuracy will be the most important tangibles to compete this weekend. The greens are extremely small, averaging just 5,600 square feet altogether. Strong iron play and scrambling will be key after hitting the driver.
Hyo Joo Kim +1200
The 28-year-old heads into this weekend’s event as the World No. 9 golfer. She has only played in one event so far in 2024, the Honda LPGA Thailand where she posted a T5 finish and shot 17-under par. Since her rookie campaign in 2015, Kim has posted 54 career top-10 finishes and six LPGA victories. She ranks fifth on the LPGA Tour in Driving Accuracy, and first in Scoring Average, Putting Average, Sand Saves, and ranks third in Putts per GIR. Look for Kim to find an edge this upcoming weekend.
Hye-Jin Choi +2000
Choi should be feeling good heading into this event after posting a T3 last weekend. She gained strokes in all four areas last week, including 2.50 with her putter and 5.32 with her irons. She also drives the ball well, averaging 264 yards per drive at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Last year at this event, she tallied a 20th-place finish. She rolls into Sentosa ranking No. 33 in the world and has 13 career top-10 finishes. In her only other start before last week, she posted a T16 at the LPGA Drive On Championship.
Yuka Saso +4100
Going back to well after missing last weekend with Saso. Power and distance off the tee are extremely important this week and her price tag at 41-1 is worth a risk. She is one of the longest hitters of the golf ball on the LPGA Tour, averaging 272.6 yards off the tee since last year. She also had one of her best performances of 2023 at this event, finishing solo sixth. She must improve with her approach game as she lost -0.91 strokes with her irons last weekend, but still finished T16. Her driving and putting have been great, if she can get hot with her irons, she will contend this week in Singapore.
