This event is the latest iteration of the LA Open before Palos Verdes Golf Club took over hosting duties in 2023. Its name change coincides with five-time major winner, Seri Pak, becoming the tournament host for the 2024 edition. Nelly Korda leads the pack this year for the odds-on favorite to win the event. She is followed by Brooke M. Henderson, Xiyu Lin, Patty Tavatanakit, amongst others who will try to stand victorious on Sunday. Doc’s Sports will break down the event below.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
This is Palos Verdes Golf Club’s 100-year anniversary, having been designed by William P. Bell in 1924. This course can be a firm test with the last two LPGA winners posting scores of -10 and -15. The course plays as a par 71 and measures in at 6,258 yards. The layout features 11 par-4s, four par-3s, and three par-5s. The course is built along cliff tops and recently had some of the densely-populated trees removed to open up views of the Pacific Ocean. The course is extremely hilly, with sloping fairways and elevation changes on every hole. The greens are smaller than most courses and feature tiny poa annua bentgrass greens. Scrambling is key because the thick is extremely rough and the bunkers are deep. Water is not an issue on this venue with it coming into play on only one hole.
Nasa Hataoka +2200
Nasa enjoyed a very consistent 2023 campaign that saw eight top-10 finishes, two major top-5s, and only missed one cut in twenty-five starts. Signs so far for the 2024 season hints at more high finishes. She tallied a 22nd-place finish at the Tournament of Champions, 9th the following week in the LPGA Drive On Championship, and 3rd when we last saw her in the HSBC Women’s World Championship. The six-time LPGA winner possesses the talent to win on any weekend. She excels with her iron play where she ranks 4th in greens in regulation and 8th in approach. She checks off every box in what you look for in a winner.
Hannah Green +4500
Green is what we call a value pick in this week’s event at a 45-1 price tag. She has already won on the LPGA Tour this season and has a solid track record at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Green is a four-time winner on the LPGA Tour and sunk a 30-footer on her final hole in the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore to defeat Celine Boutier by a single stroke. In her two starts at this venue, she has tallied a 5th-place and 25th-place finishes. Take a chance on Green to stand in the winner’s circle this weekend.
Georgia Hall +5000
Hall finished runner-up to Ruoning Yin and Palos Verdes last season and she is looking to do one better this time around. Last year’s finish catapulted her to a streak of seven straight top-14 finishes. She has started the 2024 campaign in similar fashion, finishing 12th in the Saudi Ladies International. She also picked up a top-25 at the Honda LPGA Thailand. The Englishwoman has an attractive skillset for this course with a solid short game, ranking 15th in scrambling in ’23, and has one of the best putters around the LPGA. She has the game to handle this week’s hilly terrain.
