Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The Bradenton Country Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will host the LPGA Drive on Championship for the very first time. It is a Donald Ross design that opened in 1924 and underwent its most recent renovations in 2018 by Tony Jacklin. For the Drive on Championship, the course will play to a par 72 at just over 6,500 yards.
Lydia Ko +1200
After picking up a victory last week, Ko finds herself in a three-way tie as the betting favorite for this upcoming week’s Drive on Championship. She has now won her last two events, standing victorious at the Grant Thornton Invitational alongside Jason Day and then followed it up last week with a win. She led the field by a mile last week in strokes gained: approach, while also gaining more than a stroke on the field with her putter. With no prior course history and the way she has been hitting her irons, why not back the woman who's been playing the best golf in the world right now?
Celine Boutier +2200
Boutier took last week off and is set to make her 2024 debut at the LPGA Drive on Championship, where she is seeking to defend her title. In 2023 at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club just outside Phoenix, Boutier rolled in a clutch birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff with her European Solheim Cup teammate Georgia Hall. She would then sink a birdie putt on the first playoff hole to capture her third career victory on the LPGA Tour. Last year’s victory at this event sprung her to win three more times, including her first major title in her home country at The Amundi Evian Championship. Look for the momentum to keep going in 2024 for the Tour’s winningest French player.
Ayaka Furue +2800
With no course history, we are going to target players whose current form is at the top of their game. Furue finished the 2023 season with a solid run, and she picked up right where she left off by finishing fourth at the Tournament of Champions. She was splendid with her irons last week, gaining +1.09 strokes on the field with her approach play. Her play from tee-to-green is beyond promising, and the only thing that let her down from standing in the winner’s circle was her putter. She provides a ton of value at 28-1 for someone who has finished inside the top-5 in her last two events.
