Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The wait is finally over for Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. It has been three years since the club was scheduled to host the CPKC Women’s Open, but due to COVID-19 pandemic it was postponed until this year. Shaughnessy was founded in 1911 just outside downtown Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada, and has a long, rich history in the game of golf. The course will play as a par 72 for the women this week and should play difficult. The fairways are tree-lined and the rough is very lush and thick. The par-3 17th hole is the “headline” hole with boards lining the tee deck and volunteers decked out in referee stripes.
Nelly Korda (+1200)
The 25-year-old is looking for her first victory of 2023 and boasts seven top-10 finishes. Some of her most recent finishes include a T11 at the AIG Women’s Open, T9 at The Amundi Evian Championship, T6 at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro, 3rd at The Chevron Championship, and T5 at the DIO Implant LA Open. She has eight career LPGA victories and is currently ranked 2nd in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking. Look for Korda to pick up her first victory on tour this season.
Brooke M. Henderson (+2200)
Henderson will be the star of the show this weekend for locals being a Smiths Falls, Ontario native. She is making her first competitive appearance in Vancouver since 2015, when she competed in the CP Women’s Open at Vancouver Golf Club. There are many reasons to believe Henderson will compete and find success at Shaughnessy. She has won twice in Portland on a Columbia Edgewater Country Club course that is another A.V. Macan design. Her first major championship win came at the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Golf Club, a tree-lined layout that has multiple similarities to Shaughnessy. Look for the home crowd to get involved if she is in contention.
Lilia Vu (+2500)
The odds on Vu this week are so disrespectful that you would be foolish not to throw a small wager on her at 25-1. She heads into the week ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking. She has four top-10’s and three victories in the 2023 season. She won the Honda LPGA Thailand in February, finished T7 at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mountain, won The Chevron Championship in April, and won the AIG Women’s Open two weeks ago. She has the skills to compete on every single course she tees up on and bettors should rejoice you get her at 25-1 odds.
