2024 LIV Picks: Greenbrier Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
With the Olympics in the rearview mirror, LIV Golf returns to the United States with only two regular season events left before the Team Championship in Dallas. Jon Rahm and the rest of the crew will head to West Virginia to tackle The Old White Course at The Greenbrier Resort. In last year’s edition, Bryson DeChambeau dominated the final two rounds with a 21-under-par score to stand victorious. Rahm and DeChambeau will enter the weekend as the co-favorites, with Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton not too far behind. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best action from West Virginia below.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The Old White Course added some yardage to this year’s edition. The layout will remain a par-70 course, but it will measure in at 7,299 yards, with the par-4 second and 10th holes lengthened by 39 and 28 yards respectively. The fairways are extremely wide at Greenbrier and long-ball hitters excel here. Approach shots and putting will be key statistics to watch out for. All but four players in last year’s field finished below par, with 22 players finishing 10-under or better. With rain expected in the forecast, this weekend should have a dramatic finish in West Virginia.
Joaquin Niemann +700
Niemann is heading to a course he absolutely loves this week after finishing ninth at the Olympics. His course history is something to look at when targeting him this weekend. He made his PGA Tour debut at the Old White in 2017, finishing 29th as an amateur. He finished fifth in 2018 before winning at Greenbrier by six shots for a PGA Tour breakthrough victory in ’19. He finished a mediocre 23rd last season, but he knows how to navigate this layout. The Chilean has finished 3rd, 6th, and 2nd in his last three LIV events. He should also be highly motivated as he leads LIV in the standings, which earns an $18 million dollar check. With Niemann being six good rounds away from a fortune, look for him to bring his A-game this weekend.
Cameron Smith +1600
Smith is overdue for a victory and this is a solid spot to back the Australian. He displayed solid form in his last LIV event in the UK and heads to a course that fits his game to a tee. Smith hits plenty of fairways and the landing areas at Greenbrier are not intimidating. The soft conditions will make this course even wider, which only benefits Smith. He has finished in the top-10 in four of the last five LIV Golf events and leads the league in putts per hole at 1.51. He also ranks fourth and 12th in birdies per round and scrambling. Look for Smith to pick up a win this weekend.
David Puig +3500
My longshot pick for the weekend is the 22-year-old Puig. He is a rising star and finished in fourth last season at Greenbrier with a 16-under-par score. He finished third in LIV Houston in June and 11th in LIV UK last month. He has one victory this year on the Asian Tour, winning the Malaysian Open in February. He started 2023 outside the top 1,000 in the world rankings and has jumped all the way up to 133, which is a crazy leap and LIV events do not earn any world ranking points. With his confidence on the rise, look for Puig to be in the mix this weekend.
