2024 LIV Golf Picks: LIV Golf Tour Mayakoba Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
The LIV Golf League kicks off its third season at El Camaleon Golf Course, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The star power and depth continue to expand on the LIV circuit as World No. 3 Jon Rahm left the PGA Tour in favor of LIV. Fellow Europeans Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Meronk are the latest players to also make the switch over from the PGA. The new guys are the favorites for this event, as Rahm is +400 and Hatton comes in at +1200. Last year, Charles Howell III won his first and only LIV event at Mayakoba by shooting 16 under par, defeating Peter Uihlein by four shots. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best bets for this weekend in Mexico.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The El Camaleon Golf Club is part of the all-inclusive Mayakoba Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It was designed by LIV’s CEO Greg Norman in 2006 and hosted the PGA Tour from 2007 to 2022. The course plays at a par 71 and measures in at 7,116 yards. The 18 holes run through tropical jungle, mangrove forests and oceanfront. The rough is not very penal but errant tee shots into the jungle or canals can be devastating. If you look at previous winners on this course, scores are normally low here.
Tyrrell Hatton +1200
For the first LIV event of 2024, I am looking at guys with course history and players who have been active in the offseason. Hatton took the leap to LIV just like Jon Rahm and he finds himself with the second-best odds to win this weekend. He played in two PGA events in January before joining LIV and tallied two top-25 finishes at the Sony Open and The Sentry. Hatton is the 16th-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking and should have less rust than his fellow LIV counterparts. Look for Hatton to pick up a victory in his first career LIV start.
Joaquin Niemann +1400
Niemann should be out to prove the haters wrong after a disappointing 2023 season on the LIV circuit and only made two cuts out of the four majors. With an extended offseason for most LIV players, Niemann decided to take one month off and then tee it up in tournament play. In three starts he finished 5th at the Australian PGA Championship, won the Australian Open in a playoff, and finished T4 in Dubai. He should enter this LIV season with less rust and he has had success in the past on this course. Last year he finished T11 and in 2022, on the PGA Tour, he finished 5th, shooting in the 60s every round. Niemann should be on everyone’s radar out of the gate.
Carlos Ortiz +2500
Ortiz loves to play at Mayakoba. The 32-year-old finished T7 in this event last season and his track record here also includes a runner-up finish, T8, and T2 in his last three starts at El Camaleon as a member of the PGA Tour. He also posted a current victory in Mexico at the V Copa Prissa on the Gira De Golf Professional Mexicana in an OWGR event. I expect Ortiz to have another stelar showing at Mayakoba this weekend.
