Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
The Siam Country Club’s Old Course is one of the longest venues on the LPGA Tour. The course plays at a par 72 and measures in at 6,576 yards. The Old Course has been hosting this event since 2007, except for 2009 when it was held at the Pattaya Plantation Course. It was designed and founded by Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha in 1971 and has been a staple on the LPGA Tour. Long-distance hitters have the biggest advantage this week and Nanna Koerstz Madsen has the course record, shooting 26-under par in 2022.
Lilia Vu +1200
Can Lilia Vu repeat at Siam Country Club’s Old Course? I sure think so! She is coming off, perhaps her worst showing with a T55 at the Drive on Championship, shooting +5. This is the perfect course to return to form. Despite her last start, she is still ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. She possesses the skill set to win at any tournament and has a 18th-place finish at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in 2024. She won this tournament last season shooting 22-under par, that included a 6-under par third round and a 8-under par final round to claim victory.
Yuka Saso +2200
Saso makes sense to contend this week due to her ability off the tee. She finished sixth on the LPGA Tour in driving distance in 2023 among all golfers who competed in at least 30% of rounds, averaging 273 yards off the tee. She also has a solid course history here in two competitions, finishing 12th and 20th in her two starts. Saso also enters this week in solid form, finishing 7th at last week’s Ladies European Tour event.
Madalene Sagstrom +8000
Sagstrom is a great dark horse to contend this week in Thailand due to her driver. She is one of the longest drivers on the LPGA Tour, averaging 272 yards off-the-tee last season and is averaging the same yardage in 2024 through her first four rounds. She has failed to tally a top-10 finish at this event in the past, but has improved on the leaderboard in three straight years. She finished T23 last season. Her game and style fit this course to pick up her second career LPGA win this weekend. I am willing to take a chance at an 80-1 price tag.
