2023 PGA Picks: Fortinet Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
If you blinked, you may have missed the PGA Tour offseason. The first FedEx Cup fall event, the 2023 Fortinet Championship, is only a few days away. A field of 155 players will compete in the $8.4 million outing at the Silverado Country Club in Napa Valley, California. Max Homa is looking to become the first golfer since Steve Stricker (2009-11 John Deere Classic) to win the same tournament in three consecutive years. He heads into Thursday as the top dog at +700 odds. Last year he won in dramatic fashion on the 72nd hole over Danny Willett with a chip-in, followed by a three-putt by Willett to give Homa the title. Justin Thomas has the second-best odds after a down season that saw him miss the playoffs. Doc’s Sports will break down below the best bets for this upcoming weekend.

Course Characteristics of Those Who Can Win or Secure Winning Golf Bets
Located deep in the heart of wine country, the Silverado Country Club North Course is the home to the PGA Tour’s annual Fortinet Championship. The North Course features narrow, tree-lined fairways and deep bunkers that force accurate approaches. The course was designed by PGA Tour Hall-of-Famer Johnny Miller and all previous 16 winners shot double digit under par to claim the titles. The course measures in at 7,123 yards and plays as a par 72.
Sahith Theegala +1600
Theegala is not shy to admit he plays some of his best golf on the west coast. He remains one of the best young golfers on tour without a victory and this could be a great spot for the former Haskins Award winner. In his three appearances on this course, he has a 14th and a 6th-place finish. He also finished this past season with some momentum putting together back-to-back top-15 finishes against elite fields in the FedEx Playoffs. He boasts an excellent chance to pick up his first career win this weekend.
Cam Davis +1800
This course is primed for Davis to pick up his second career PGA Tour victory. The big hitting Australian had a solid 2022-23 season, posting six top-10’s. That included three straight to get him into the FedEx Cup Playoffs and allowed him to advance to the BMW Championship. In those three tournaments, his worst round was a 70. His lone victory came in 2021 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He provides solid value given the lack of top-end talent in the field and he finished T4 at the PGA Championship and T6 at the Players Championship.
Beau Hossler +2500
Hossler is searching for his first career victory on tour and has shown signs that he could claim a title sooner than later. In his last five starts, he has been 26th or better four times, highlighted by a T6 at the Barracuda Championship. He has also been inside the top-25 the last three times he has played in the Fortinet, ranking second in putting and third in total strokes gained. Hossler is worth a wager at 25-1 odds.
Cameron Champ +7500
This is the time of year that Cameron Champ loves playing golf. He has excelled in the fall, winning two of his three career titles to begin the wraparound season, including the 2019 Fortinet Championship and the 2018 Sanderson Farms. In his last 12 rounds at the Silverado Country Club, Champ ranks first in strokes gained: off-the-tee, and third tee-to-green. He is boom or bust, but is worth a stab at 75-1 odds and his course history.
