2024 PGA Picks: Butterfield Bermuda Championship Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
The FedEx Cup Fall is approaching its end with next week's RSM Classic, but first, we make a stop on the stunning island of Bermuda for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. I used to think Bermuda was located amongst the other Caribbean islands, but no. One day, my best friend asked me to be his best man at his wedding in Bermuda.
Comprised of over 180 islands, the country of Bermuda is located over 700 nautical miles off the shore of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to play any golf, as links cover the island, making Bermuda the country with the highest concentration of golf courses in the world.
The crown jewel of these links is the Port Royal Golf Club. Even with the difficulty lessened significantly over the past five years, Port Royal remains one of the most beautiful landscapes on the PGA Tour.

Port Royal Golf Club: Course Characteristics
Port Royal Golf Club hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 2009-2014. The current Major champions from that year would be required to attend. The course took a step back after that, as the event became an alternate on the PGA Tour.
In recent years, however, the Bermuda Championship has become a much more significant stop. With the implementation of the FedEx Cup Fall, this tournament is all-important for those who still need to book their two-year exemption, and the winner gets a spot at The Masters.
Port Royal is a coastal course with undulating hills throughout. You’ve probably guessed the green surface, Bermudagrass, which provides a little bit more jump and break when putting the greens.
We mentioned the difficulty is low here at Port Royal, ranking 56th out of 58 PGA Tour courses in 2023. Coastal winds, however, are as unpredictable as they can be swirling. The moving air is, without a doubt, the toughest part about playing at Port Royal.
We currently have a potential for showers on one or two days and high winds, some upwards of 30 MPH, throughout the tournament.
Bermuda Championship Betting Picks
Mackenzie Hughes: +1800
The Canadian is sitting just outside of the PGA Tour Top 50 right now, and he doesn't need a stellar performance in order to qualify for any Tour exemptions. The pressure is off for him, and I like that. If we're betting a lower-level guy to play his butt off, I prefer the play to be snagging a top 20 in order to make a Tour exemption.
For our winner picks, though, I want to stick with golfers we know have what it takes to not only compete but to win at this level.
Hughes has been a Canadian his whole life, and a big part of that was spent playing golf in some gnarly conditions. His performances throughout his career have mirrored this as well. In his only two starts in the FedEx Cup Fall, the Kent State grad has finishes of 4th and 8th. Good form, course fit, conditions fit, and skill level are all on the side of the Canadian this week.
Daniel Berger: +3000
Approach will be paramount this week as this course is very short. The winds likely won't play a big factor for those accurate off the tee, but dialing in that 2nd or 3rd shot will be paramount. That's why I love Daniel Berger here. We have been playing him this FedEx Cup Fall to some success, and if we missed on him, it was just by a stroke or two.
Berger is one of the best ball strikers in this field and has shown he can compete at a much higher level only a few years ago. He's still just 31 years old.
Berger put together rounds of 66 and 64 last week at the WWT Championship. Let's hope his experience and tight/conservative playing style are just what's needed to win on a small but windy course.
Kevin Yu: +4000
Chinese Taipei's Kevin Yu already knows he can be successful at Port Royal with a 3rd place finish in his pocket from 2023. The 26-year-old had four top-ten finishes in 2024 heading into the FedEx Cup Fall but still without a PGA Tour victory.
That all changed just a month ago at the Sanderson Farms Championship when Yu shot 23 under par, eventually securing his first-ever win on Tour after a playoff with Beau Hossler.
After playing well at the ZOZO, he took a week off in preparation for this week’s Bermuda Championship. I like that because there are a lot of golfers who’ve had to keep up with the crazy FedEx Cup Fall schedule that took golfers from Las Vegas to Japan to the West Coast of Mexico and now to Bermuda.
Bermuda Championship Prop Bet
Nico Echavarria Top 30: +100
Viva Colombia! Nico Echavarria comes into the Bermuda Championship on fire with finishes of 11th, 1st, and 6th in his four FedEx Cup Fall starts. Many thought after his victory in Japan, Echavarria would pack it in, but a respectable 6th this past week in Cabo says otherwise.
The 26-year-old from the green city of Medellin doesn't have the best course history here at Port Royal. However, his current form and high level of skill should keep him inside the top 30.
