Can Shane Get the Sugar Back? by Trever "DeuceDrop" Malagon - 09/15/2005 Shane Mosley is set to take on Jose Luis Cruz on Sept. 17 at the MGM in Las Vegas. This is another fight for Shane to try and show the boxing world his comeback attempt is serious. He is taking on an undefeated fighter with a high knockout ratio. Cruz has 27 KOs out of 32 wins, all of which were against limited opposition, but nonetheless he has some pop in his punches. Shane has power too and also has fast hands with greater boxing abilities. I'm sure it's speed that Cruz has never seen before inside the ring. Mosley is a former a world champ and has been in tough fights with other world champs. His experience is what is going to play a big factor in this fight, but who knows, Cruz could be another Vernon Forrest to Shane Mosley and catch him with a big shot that throws Mosley for a loop. This fight has many of us wondering what's really going to happen. Who's going to fight their fight and get the win? Which Shane Mosley is going to show up? The Shane that was once dazzling and a world champ that no one could beat, or the Shane that relied too much on his hand speed and who was too one dimensional to make adjustments to win the fight? And how is Jose Luis Cruz going to handle Mosley? If Mosley is going to be patient, is Cruz going to make Mosley fight his fight and try and get a knockout? Or is he going to let Mosley set the pace and take the fight? All these questions will be answered this weekend, so I guess we got to wait and see. |
