Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather (35-0, 24 KOs) will be taking on career tease Zab Judah (34-3, 25 KOs) in what could have been one of the most hyped fights of the year. The only thing that could take any of the steam off the fight would be a loss by the Brooklyn big mouth, and he managed to just that against journeyman Carlos Baldomir (42-9-6, 12 KOs). I have no idea how Baldomir got six draws, but he did manage to humiliate Zab and hand him his third loss and rob him of his first big payday. He was going to get millions but now he will get about $500,000, quite a dent in the wallet. Floyd has been calling him a "thousandaire" for a few months now, and the shoe definitely fits.
PBF is firmly entrenched at the top of the boxing pound-for-pound lists, including mine, and he is looking for the biggest names and paydays. Judah seemed like a perfect opponent with his blend of size, speed and power, and with his platinum teeth chattering it was sure to be an interesting press conference. The fight seems like a walk in the park for PBF but the loss will only serve as a motivation for Zab. He knows everyone is counting him out and he has always been best as an underdog. When he was a favorite the last few times against Kostya Tszyu and Cory Spinks he was unable to handle the pressure and succumbed to bad planning as well.
These are the current odds for the upcoming Welterweight championship.
Mayweather to win -465
Judah to win +370
Mayweather by KO -125
Judah by KO +670
Mayweather by Decision +273
Judah by Decision +883
Fight goes the distance +165
Over on rounds 10.5: +115
Under on rounds 10.5: -135
The fight will be taking place April 8 and will be available on HBO PPV for $49.95. The undercard is pretty impressive and is topped by mini Mexican Jorge Arce taking on the always dirty Rosendo Alvarez. Jose Miguel Cotto, the undefeated brother of Miguel, will take on unbeaten Juan Diaz for the WBA lightweight championship of the world.
