NFL Power Rankings Week 13
by Robert Ferringo - 11/28/2023
Take that, sportsbooks. In the Eternal Struggle between The Bettors and The Books, there are rarely decisive blows struck either way. Most of the time sports wagering and this bettor/book battle is a grind, a slow, mathematical slog for supremacy over the long term.
NFL Power Rankings Week 12
by Robert Ferringo - 11/21/2023
It’s Thanksgiving Week, which is the busiest gambling week of the season. As such, I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Also, this week we will be releasing our football picks at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 to accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to each of you and your loved ones and good luck this week!
NFL Power Rankings Week 11
by Robert Ferringo - 11/14/2023
Next week is the week of Thanksgiving. Our handicappers always release our full football cards (college football and NFL combined) at 6 p.m. EST on Thursdays. However, to accommodate the holiday, we will be releasing our picks at 6 p.m. EST on Wednesday. That way you will have time to get your action in on Wednesday and can kick back and relax during one of the best weekends of football all year.
NFL Power Rankings Week 10
by Robert Ferringo - 11/7/2023
Bet every game ‘under’. That is really the only trend you need to follow, as the ‘under’ continues to dominate NFL betting this season. The ‘under’ went 11-3 again last week and is now hitting at a dominating 61.5 percent this season (83-52 against the closing number).
NFL Power Rankings Week 9
by Robert Ferringo - 10/31/2023
The trade deadline in any given sport can be one of the most impactful moments of the season for sports bettors. But not for the reasons most people think. The big news this week has been deadline deals in the NFL (and, to a lesser extent, the trade of James Harden in the NBA). The public loves trades in professional sports. It’s fun! It’s exciting! It’s different! And these maneuvers have a very direct impact on sports betting lines and odds.
NFL Power Rankings Week 8
by Robert Ferringo - 10/24/2023
This is the grind. That initial excitement of the return of the NFL wore off weeks ago. The honeymoon is over. Now we find ourselves midway through the gauntlet of the regular season. That familiar Tuesday-Saturday routine is starting to calcify, and the space between NFL weekends shrinking.
NFL Power Rankings Week 7
by Robert Ferringo - 10/17/2023
You can’t mess with Isaac Newton. You know Newton. Famous scientist. Was a big fan of the pooch punt and the shovel pass. Newton’s Third Law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The universe is all about adjustment. Give and take. Forces acting against one another.
NFL Power Rankings Week 6
by Robert Ferringo - 10/10/2023
It is an age-old handicapper dilemma: do you trust your eyes, or do you trust The Numbers? Last week, my two top NFL totals involved the Saints-Patriots and Jets-Broncos games. And I was faced with a choice: do I follow my systems and follow the mathematics for my top play, or should I throw the stats out the window and go with what I’ve seen on tape?
NFL Power Rankings Week 5
by Robert Ferringo - 10/3/2023
Everyone knows everything after the fact. If you learn anything in the Gambling World, it is that everyone is a genius after a game is played. Everything seems so obvious after it happens. So clear. What you should’ve done. Who you should’ve bet. Which lines were ridiculous and which ones you were smart to stay away from.
NFL Power Rankings Week 4
by Robert Ferringo - 9/26/2023
Week 3 in the NFL is a slap in the face. The first two weeks of the year served their purpose. Opening week was that first shot of whiskey on a Friday evening. The one that gets you going. The moment and experience that just reminds you what you were missing and why you’ve been so excited in anticipation.
NFL Power Rankings Week 3
by Robert Ferringo - 9/19/2023
In last week’s NFL Power Rankings, I talked about avoiding the overreaction. What normally happens is that bettors usually freak out over the results of Week 1 and try to glean some hidden meaning from each team’s initial performance. They do this instead of accepting that it is a long season and that people just sit back, relax, and let the season unfold.
NFL Power Rankings Week 2
by Robert Ferringo - 9/12/2023
That was UGLY. NFL Week 1 is in the books. It was like most season-opening adventures: some things went exactly the way we thought they would, and others provided some big surprises. But the overarching theme of the week was sloppy, nearly unwatchable football.
NFL Power Rankings Week 1
by Robert Ferringo - 9/7/2023
Last year was the worst NFL season of my career, a horror of unspeakable defeat and monumental failure. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Did he actually just admit to LOSING?!?!” I know, I know: bettors in The Online World of Gambling are all WINNERS! As my friend Raphael Esparza likes to say, “Gambling Twitter is undefeated!” The Online World of Gambling is paved with triumph and gold. No one ever loses.
2023 Cincinnati Bengals Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/13/2023
Here is some free, expert gambling advice: don’t ever make a preseason bet on who is going to win the championship in any sport. Especially the NFL. Betting on who is going to win the Super Bowl this year is a waste of money. The odds are completely out of whack with what the actual payouts should be. Let’s use the Cincinnati Bengals as an example, since I think that this is a championship-caliber team.
2023 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/9/2023
I will be the first to admit that I am a little higher on the Pittsburgh Steelers this season than most football analysts. Then again, when a team hasn’t had a losing season in almost 20 years, I’m not exactly going out on a limb by predicting that they will be among the top teams in the AFC again this season.
2023 Denver Broncos Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/8/2023
Heading into last season, the Broncos had Super Bowl hype. The addition of potential Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, the excitement of new ownership and a fresh coaching regime, and a slew of free agent and draft pickups, all created an air of certainty around the 2022 Broncos.
2023 Cleveland Browns Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/8/2023
I’m not sure if any other team in the NFL has endured as much drama over the last six years as the Cleveland Browns. In 2017, they suffered the indignity of going 0-16. In 2018, they had two Top 5 draft picks, the first of which they squandered on Baker Mayfield (just a few years after taking Johnny Manziel in the first round).
2023 Los Angeles Chargers Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/8/2023
I think the Idea of The Chargers has always been better than the Reality. Whenever someone talks about the Chargers, the first word that comes to mind is “talent”. Any media bobblehead talking about Los Angeles will, within the first 30 seconds of discussing them, mention their “talent”. It was the same thing we heard over and over again during the Philip Rivers Era. Each year the Chargers were a trendy Super Bowl pick because of their “talent”.
2023 New England Patriots Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/2/2023
Human existence is a tale of creation and destruction. Things built. Things destroyed. And on and on into infinity. The New England Patriots Dynasty of the early 21st century was one of the greatest that football has ever seen. Yet right now, the same people that marveled at the overwhelming accomplishments of Bill Belichick and the Patriots are reveling in his demise and calling for his head.
2023 Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions with Season Win Total Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/1/2023
Jacksonville is one of the most overvalued and overhyped teams in the NFL heading into the 2023 season. At Caesars Sportsbook, the Jaguars currently have the fifth-highest Las Vegas season win total (10.0) in the AFC. I have also seen them in the Top 10 of nearly every preseason power ranking that I’ve read, and quarterback Trevor Lawrence is being called a “sleeper MVP pick”.
