Greatest Super Bowl Teams of All Time Ranked
by Robert Ferringo - 1/25/2019
Let's get this out of the way first and foremost: it is nearly impossible to compare football teams from different eras. The rules, the size of the players, the size of the league, the training methods, the amount of pressure from media; nothing is the same today as it was in the 1990s. Just like nothing in the 1990s was the same as it was in the 1970s.
Top 10 Teams Not to Win The Super Bowl
by Robert Ferringo - 1/25/2019
"History is written by the victors" is a quote attributed to Winston Churchill. That's kind of a historically lazy argument. Yet even though the victors don't necessarily write history it is certainly written for the victors. NFL history is no different. People only remember the 1968 Baltimore Colts as the team that lost to Joe Namath and the Jets in one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.
Biggest Super Bowl Upsets
by Robert Ferringo - 1/18/2019
Shocking Super Bowl upsets are becoming harder and harder to come by. Parity cloaks the National Football League these days. The disparity between the top and the bottom teams in the league has never been smaller. And because of the preferred style of play - high scoring, high-octane, and pass-happy - it is harder for teams to simply overpower their opponents.
Greatest Super Bowl Betting Moments
by Robert Ferringo - 1/18/2019
We all have our stories - for good or ill - involving gambling and the Super Bowl. Win or lose, it's a right of passage for players across the country to wager on The Big Game. But have you ever found yourself wondering who won or lost the Super Bowl's largest bets? Has the title game ever been under suspicion of a fix? Or what about if anyone ever correctly predicted both the Super Bowl and World Series winners, before either season had started, in the same year?
List of Popular Super Bowl Myths
by Robert Ferringo - 1/17/2019
If you haven't noticed, we have a tendency to exaggerate things in this country. Whether it's Weapons of Mass Destruction or the wealth of Donald Trump, we are a nation guilty of telling tall tales to make ourselves seem more important. It's a cultural thing. Be it our wives breasts or our nuclear weapons programs, we Americans ascribe to the belief that "Bigger is Better'.
Worst Moments In Super Bowl History
by Robert Ferringo - 1/17/2019
My worst Super Bowl Moment involved a blonde Mormon, a gas mask, a missing cigar box and Laura Bush. What was your worst Super Bowl moment? We all know that Super Bowl Sunday is a corridor to sports glory and immortality. But for every winner there's a loser and for every story of a heroic fourth-quarter comeback there's another about a legendary sex-crazed coke binge. The Super Bowl invites extremes. And while the day can be one of bacchanalia and celebration things can also turn quickly and swallow the unsuspecting whole.
The Greatest Moments In Super Bowl History
by Robert Ferringo - 1/17/2019
It's tough to put together a list of the Greatest Plays in Super Bowl history. Do you choose the moments that everyone remembers most clearly? Do you choose the moments that had the biggest impact that specific game? Or do you try to find the moments that helped elevate The Game to its mythic stature by creating an assemblage of shared experiences?
NFL Power Rankings Week 17
by Robert Ferringo - 12/26/2018
Well, this is it. Another NFL regular season is about to settle into the books. This week is the dreaded Week 17 of the NFL season. For some teams, like the Titans and Colts, the playoffs start on Sunday. For others, this week is the last hurdle between their players and an offseason of recreation and recovery.
NFL Power Rankings Week 16

How do you gauge the most valuable player in a given sport? For some, the MVP should simply be the best player. Period. If that is the case, then Patrick Mahomes should easily win the MVP this season. He is set to throw for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns passes - both by far the top numbers in the league - while leading the Chiefs to a potential No. 1 seed in the AFC. Mahomes has done all this while making any number of jaw-dropping throws, and the kid clearly looks like the Next Big Thing in NFL quarterbacking.
NFL Power Rankings Week 15

I love futures betting. But I am not at all a fan of betting on teams to win the Super Bowl. It is really such an arbitrary thing, when you think about it, and the odds for teams to hoist the Lombardi Trophy never come close to reflecting how difficult the task really is.
NFL Power Rankings Week 14
by Robert Ferringo - 12/4/2018
Some weeks things just aren't going to go the way they were supposed to. And last week was that week for me. The Saints laid their first egg in three months. Three college football teams blew double-digit leads. The Bears threw up on themselves against the hapless Giants.
NFL Power Rankings Week 13
by Robert Ferringo - 11/29/2018
Right now one of the most misleading statistics in the NFL is wins and losses. Since we can delineate the good teams from the bad having an understanding of strength of schedule and its impact on the relativity of teams and their records and rankings. Generally, you don't hear about NFL strength of schedule with the random exception of a couple random times throughout the offseason (like when next year's schedules are released).
NFL Power Rankings Week 12
by Robert Ferringo - 11/20/2018
It is Thanksgiving week, so I am doing an abridged version of my NFL Power Rankings. But I do want to take this opportunity to point out again that I will be releasing my football selections on Wednesday this week to accommodate the holiday. That goes for all of Doc's football handicappers, and we want to get our action in early so we can sit back and enjoy an orgy of alcohol, eating and gambling this weekend that would make the Romans blush.
NFL Power Rankings Week 11
by Robert Ferringo - 11/13/2018
The Saints are pretty clearly the best team in football. I still think that there is a razor thin margin between the top five teams. There is, however, a massive gap between the top eight or nine teams, which are legitimate title contenders, and the second tier in the league. Those teams in the middle of the pack are the ones that are causing bettors the most anxiety each week. And the most difficult
NFL Power Rankings Week 10

Don't forget to check the weather. We've been treated to the highest scoring first nine weeks of football in NFL history. Yet as we move into November, the weather is going to start getting colder and harsher. The cold has a way of slowing everything down, making everything just a little bit harder. The wind will start to become a factor as well. And we're only a few weeks away from our first snow bowl.
2018 SEC Basketball Predictions and Expert Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/6/2018
I live in the South. So I can say this with total and absolute certainty: no one in the SEC gives a damn about college basketball. No one. Not at all. Not even a little bit. I'm not kidding when I say that average fans can reel off their favorite college football team's schedule on command. But those same fans are oblivious to little things like when the NCAA Tournament starts.
2018 Mountain West Basketball Predictions and Expert Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/6/2018
The sportsbooks decided not to post odds on regular-season championships for individual conferences this college basketball season. That decision, borne out of a mix of laziness and general incompetence, was a surprise. As conference odds betting has been a part of college basketball for as long as I could remember.
2018 Atlantic 10 Basketball Predictions and Expert Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/5/2018
If you love college basketball and college basketball betting, then you should love the Atlantic 10. The variety of styles. The unique terrain in terms of home courts and locations. The traditional mid-major powers and "name" programs. And the sheer volume of teams and games makes this one of the most entertaining and potentially-profitable conferences in the country.
2018 AAC Basketball Predictions and Expert Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/5/2018
The American Athletic Conference is still a league searching for respect. Residing in that limbo between major conferences, like the ACC and Big Ten, and the mid-major conferences, like the Atlantic 10 and Mountain West, the AAC is still trying to find its place in college basketball's national hierarchy.
2018 ACC Basketball Predictions and Expert Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/5/2018
The ACC, by virtue of its sheer size, is always one of the deepest and most talented conferences in college basketball. This year is no different. The league looks poised to send anywhere from 8-10 teams to the NCAA Tournament and boasts a host of teams with Final Four potential.
