The host Huskers are headed for the Big Ten next season so this will be the final game in what has bee one of the more unpredictable series in the history of the Big 12. Nebraska is presently a 7.5-point favorite.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/28/2010
It was a slim winning week for the Ferringo 15, as our clubs went 6-5 for the week to turn an overall profit. That now makes these teams 29-24 ATS in the last three weeks that they have been posted in this section. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams a barely passable 42-36 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings. Remember: I’m not listing the 15 teams that I think will cover in a given week. This is just a list of 15 teams that I think present the best blend of immediate and long-term earning potential against the books, while also giving credit to teams for recent, past performances.
NFL Power Rankings Week 8
by Robert Ferringo - 10/27/2010
As we head into Week 8 of the 2010 NFL season Minnesota (1-5), Dallas (1-5) and San Diego (2-5) are three of the worst teams in the league. In the meantime, Kansas City (4-2), Tampa Bay (4-2) and Seattle (4-2) are three of the best. (At least in the stat category that counts most: wins.) What the hell is going on in this league?
Mountain West Conference Predictions and MWC College Basketball Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 10/26/2010
Well, apparently The Mountain West didn’t make enough of an impression by dominating West Coast basketball last year and being one of the most reliable conferences in the country to make a profit betting in. Last year The Mountain had a coming out party with four teams earning NCAA Tournament bids.
NFL Picks: Patriots vs. Chargers Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/23/2010
It was just two scant years ago that these AFC juggernauts were meeting in the conference title game. The Patriots were two sweet sips of victory away from the Greatest Season of All Time and the Chargers were a worthy impediment on the end of a 46-18 four-year run. But since that fierce game in Foxboro these two franchises have found the fight to be a little tougher. Neither team has won a playoff game in the two seasons since and neither currently leads its division. Most of the best players from that AFC Championship Game are no longer with these teams and both appear in the midst of a rebuilding effort.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/21/2010
Yeah, I can’t believe it either. But the Hawaii Warriors have been the best bet in the business through the first half of the college football season. Right now they are 5-2 overall and they are actually a game up on Boise State in the WAC standings. You can’t say that this team is strictly an island bet. They are 2-1 SU and ATS on the mainland this year and this week they have a short line (-3) against Utah State.
NFL Power Rankings Week 7
by Robert Ferringo - 10/20/2010
Save the violence. The big buzz in the NFL this week is the “outrage” over the vicious and savage play that we witnessed on the field last week. It was as if members of the bobblehead media suddenly realized: wow, football is a violent, angry, masochistic sport full of pain and punishment. And naturally, they had to bitch about it.
College Football Picks: Ohio State at Wisconsin Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/16/2010
Newly minted No. 1 Ohio State will take on No. 16 Wisconsin at 7 p.m. on Saturday in a crucial Big Ten battle. This game will be played in Madison in front of a rowdy, passionate home crowd that will be looking for the home underdog – Ohio State is a four-point chalk – to pull a big-time upset.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/14/2010
If you count each of Central Florida’s two covers in the last eight days then the Ferringo 15 has posted a slim profit at 8-7 over the last week or so. That makes it 16-12 over the last two postings and it’s slowly but surely chugging along. For the year the F-15 teams are 29-24 the week that they have been listed in these college football power rankings.
NFL Picks: New Orleans at Tampa Bay Odds and Sunday Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/14/2010
That the New Orleans Saints are going through a post-championship hangover is probably the most predictable thing about this wild 2010 NFL season. That the Tampa Bay Bucs have a chance to grab first place in the NFC South about one-third into this season has to be one of the least predictable things.
NFL Power Rankings Week 6
by Robert Ferringo - 10/13/2010
1. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) – How is this for old school: Pittsburgh is No. 32 in the NFL in passing (136 yards per game) but they are arguably one of the best three teams in the league. Obviously, Big Ben is back this week. And I expect him to be pretty sharp. But he’s not going to be a cure-all for their offensive issues, which include its leaky offensive line. Pittsburgh has won 12 of 13 games against the Browns and is a solid 9-4 ATS in those games.
College Football Picks: Florida State vs. Miami Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/9/2010
No. 24 Florida State and No. 14 Miami are set for a showdown for Sunshine State supremacy on Saturday. The Seminoles and Hurricanes will meet at 8 p.m. in South Florida for one of the ACC’s biggest rivalry games. Miami is set as the favorite but Florida State’s seniors will be looking for one last upset in one is one of the top rivalries in college football.
NFL Picks: Green Bay vs. Washington Betting Odds and Sunday Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/8/2010
If going against the public is something in your NFL betting wheelhouse, then this week should leave you with plenty of action. There are currently four games in which one side is taking at least 83 percent of the wagers. San Diego, New Orleans and Atlanta are all heavy public plays this week. But one team takes the crown, with over 85 percent of all best on one side, and that would be the Pack from Green Bay.
NFL Power Rankings Week 5
by Robert Ferringo - 10/6/2010
New England sent the enigmatic wide receiver to Minnesota this week in a trade that has truly shocked the pro football world. There were rumors as early as Monday night that the Patriots could be shopping Moss, but I think very few people had Minnesota targeted as a landing spot. The Vikings sent just a third-round pick to the Patriots for one of the NFL’s all-time great receivers.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/6/2010
The Ferringo 15 took a brief hiatus last week, but prior to that had one of its best weeks of the season so far. In Week 4 of the college season it went 8-5 against the books. That was a nice bounce back and for the year the F-15 teams are 21-17 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings. Remember: I’m not listing the 15 teams that I think will cover in a given week. This is just a list of 15 teams that I think present the best blend of immediate and long-term earning potential against the books, while also giving credit to teams for recent, past performances.
College Football Picks: Florida Vs. Alabama Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/2/2010
This Saturday, No. 7 Florida heads to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 1 Alabama in the marquee game in the top college football conference in the country. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and the winner will become the favorite to take the SEC crown and represent the league in the BCS National Championship Game.
NFL Picks: Baltimore Ravens Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 10/1/2010
This week’s Baltimore-Pittsburgh game is the type that makes you think you should have pads and a helmet on in your living room just to watch these guys hit each other. The Ravens will square off with the Steelers at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Steel City. This game matches two of the angriest, most violent, most savage, hardest-hitting teams in the NFL.
College Football Picks: Texas Vs. Oklahoma Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 9/30/2010
This weekend No. 8 Oklahoma faces off with No. 16 Texas in this critical clash. The Sooners are small favorites in this game, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cotton Bowl. The winner of this game will establish itself as the Top Dog in the Big 12 and give itself the inside track to the conference championship game. Much like with the SEC, the Big 12 title game has been a virtual playoff game, with the victor rolling into the BCS National Championship.
NFL Power Rankings Week 4
by Robert Ferringo - 9/29/2010
On several occasions last year I wrote about the fact that, for one season at least, parity was dead in the NFL. The top-tier teams were at least three or four touchdowns better than the bottom feeders and the head-to-head and peripheral numbers backed that assessment up. Teams like Detroit and St. Louis were setting records for futility (consecutive losses, point differentials, number of blowouts, etc.) while teams like New Orleans and Indianapolis stayed undefeated until they started benching their starters. It made for a truly odd season in a league where we’ve come to expect the unexpected.
College Football Predictions for Betting: Alabama Vs. Arkansas Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 9/24/2010
Alabama – the most dominant team in the most powerful conference in college football, the No.1 team in the country, and the defending national champions – hits the road this week in what will be its first real “test” of the season. The Crimson Tide takes on upstart No. 13 Arkansas in its SEC opener at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Lafayette. The top team in the land is a healthy favorite and is intent on imposing its will on another helpless foe.
