NFL Power Rankings Week 13
by Robert Ferringo - 12/1/2010
This week there are eight in-season revenge games on the card, featuring divisional rivals that have already met once this year. Sunday begins with Jacksonville at Tennessee (the Titans flattened the Jags by 27 in October) and Monday ends with New York at New England (the Jets rolled the Patriots 28-14 in September). And in between is a host of other situations where motivation should be high on both sides.
College Football Picks: Auburn vs. Alabama Odds and Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/25/2010
No. 2 Auburn puts its National Championship dreams on the line this week as it heads to No. 11 Alabama to face the Crimson Tide. This game is set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in Tuscaloosa and the defending national champion Crimson Tide are looking to derail the Tigers in one of the most bitter rivalry games in the country.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/24/2010
It was an excellent week for the Ferringo 15. Our teams went 8-5-1 ATS overall and our top teams absolutely dominated. Teams No. 1 through No. 8 went 7-0-1 ATS while covering in all manner of big games. That is now four of five winning weeks with this crop of teams. The F-15 is also a decent 56-44 over the last seven weeks for an even 56 percent winning ratio. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams a respectable 69-57 (54.8 percent) the week that they have been listed in these power rankings.
NFL Power Rankings Week 12
by Robert Ferringo - 11/24/2010
It’s Thanksgiving week and things are on overdrive – on the gridiron, at the sportsbooks, at the mall and at the dinner table. But we are also rounding the corner in the NFL season and headed into Money Time, as the cream continues to rise to the top at the window and on the field.
College Football Picks: Ohio State at Iowa Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/20/2010
The Hawkeyes host the Buckeyes at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday in Ames. Barring something completely unforeseen, No. 20 Iowa is out of the running for the conference title. However, they still have a say in who will win this league when they take their shot at No. 7 Ohio State.
NFL Picks: Colts vs. Patriots Odds and Sunday Betting Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/19/2010
The annual Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning showdown takes place this Sunday as New England hosts Indianapolis at 4 p.m. on Sunday in Foxboro. This is another critical conference clash between these two rivals, and we should expect another classic from two of the best teams in the NFL.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/18/2010
It was another successful week for the Ferringo 15, as our teams went 7-6 against the spread last weekend for a slim profit. That is now three of four winning weeks with this crop of teams. That is now a respectable 48-39 mark over the last six weeks for a 55.2 percent winning mark. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams 61-52 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings.
College Basketball Picks: Illinois vs. Texas Betting Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 11/18/2010
Tournaments are the defining characteristic of college basketball success. Of course, the conference and NCAA tournaments at the bedrock of March Madness are the most renowned and revered of the college basketball tournaments. However, if you want a good indicator of who is game to run the table in the tournaments in March, it helps to keep an eye on the tournaments in November.
NFL Power Rankings Week 11
by Robert Ferringo - 11/17/2010
Philadelphia’s absurd 59-point outburst on Monday Night Football was the coup de grace for what was another record-setting weekend off offensive output in the NFL. The game, as we know it, has changed. Scoring is not optional in the NFL these days. Every team looks like it’s running a seven-on-seven drill each Sunday, and I don’t think I’ve seen a defense make a stand since Week 3.
College Basketball: Syracuse Orange Predictions with Futures Odds and Betting Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 11/12/2010
Syracuse didn’t win a national title but they did finish 30-5 on the season and won the Big East regular season title. They fielded one of the best teams in school history and were a symphony of success and teamwork all season long. The encore begins at 7 p.m. tonight at the Carrier Dome against Northern Iowa. And man, does this year’s team have a tough act to follow.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/11/2010
That is now two of three winning weeks for the Ferringo 15, as it put forth a subpar 5-6 ATS record last weekend. That is now a respectable 41-33 mark over the last five weeks for a 55.4 percent winning mark. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams a respectable 54-46 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings.
NFL Power Rankings Week 10
by Robert Ferringo - 11/10/2010
Indianapolis dropped down to No. 10 and was the biggest mover of the week. However, that was as much a function of good wins by the Packers, Falcons and Saints as it was anything that the Colts have done. Other than that I flopped Houston down a bit, swapped Jacksonville and Dallas, and moved the Giants up to the No. 3 slot ahead of the Jets and Patriots.
Big East College Basketball Picks With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/9/2010
The Big East has been a 16-team behemoth over the last few seasons and is college basketball’s mega-conference. It’s the only conference whose odds include a wager on “The Field,” and the league’s setup mirrors its preferred style of play: menacing, overwhelming, deep, and physical. But quantity doesn’t always mean quality and mediocrity abounds in this league this season.
SEC College Basketball Predictions With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/9/2010
As far as college basketball conferences go – the SEC sure is great at football. The SEC has left something to be desired on the college hoops scene over the course of the past several years. Perhaps, not coincidentally, the SEC’s slide to the bottom of the BCS-conference hoops ladder has occurred while the South’s football programs have taken a stranglehold on the college football landscape
ACC College Basketball Predictions With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/8/2010
The Boys on Tobacco Road have to be feeling pretty good about themselves as we head into another college basketball season. One of their spawn, the Duke Blue Devils, is the reigning college basketball champion. That is now back-to-back title winners for the ACC and over the course of the past decade this league has produced five of the last 10 winners of the March Madness brackets. Surely that is the perfect symbol of this league’s dominance on the college basketball landscape.
Big 12 College Basketball Picks With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/8/2010
A team from Kansas is the consensus preseason No. 1 in this league, which is no different than just about any other year. But this year it is the Kansas State Wildcats and not the Kansas Jayhawks that are enjoying the hype and plaudits that come from being the league favorite. To say that’s a significant change is an understatement.
College Football Power Rankings - The Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/4/2010
It was an excellent week for the Ferringo 15, as it went 8-5 ATS overall for a tidy profit. Actually, the record was 7-4 because Florida State and North Carolina State went up against one another. That is now back-to-back winning weeks for the teams listed in this space and over the last four weeks it has gone 36-28. Also, for the year that makes the F-15 teams a respectable 49-40 the week that they have been listed in these power rankings.
NFL Power Rankings Week 9
by Robert Ferringo - 11/3/2010
While the entire football world is wasting time on the drama involving Randy Moss, Donovan McNabb, the Vikings, the Cowboys, and a bunch of other guys that haven’t produced much of anything this year, there are a lot of stories that are sliding under the radar. And if Joe Public wonders why he is a consistent loser when it comes to NFL handicapping he can partially thank the bobblehead media for force-feeding sensationalist stories instead of actually trading in fact and stat.
Pac-10 College Basketball Predictions With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/3/2010
It's a good thing for the Pac-10 that plenty of attention is being paid on its impending realignment for 2011. All the focus on what the new league will look like in the future is keeping people from talking about how awful the league is in the present.
Big Ten College Basketball Predictions With Projected Order of Finish and NCAA Bids
by Robert Ferringo - 11/2/2010
For years and years I have been screaming about how overrated and unproductive Big Ten basketball has been on the national scene. Between Ed Hightower, Brent Musburger, and teams that score – literally – in the 30s, this conference has been college basketball’s idiot cousin for the better part of a decade.
