2011 NFL Power Rankings – Week 4
by Robert Ferringo - 9/27/2011
We are reaching the quarter-pole on the NFL regular season and I feel like it has already been a whirlwind in the land of NFL odds. The Bills, Lions, Raiders and Browns (combined: 10-2) are all charging ahead while the Eagles, Falcons, Bears and Colts (combined: 3-9) are barely treading water.
College Football Power Rankings: the Ferringo 15

The Ferringo 15 College Football Power Rankings is my own unique twist on the obsessive ranking systems that have dominated the sport for nearly a century. The Ferringo 15 is my Profit-Power Rankings; a rating of the 15 teams that I think hold the most value in college football betting at the moment and it is a reflection of past, present, and projected future achievement against the spread in college football betting.
2011 NFL Power Rankings – Week 3
by Robert Ferringo - 9/21/2011
Scoring is through the roof in the National Football League and through two weeks of the year seasoned quarterback play and horrendous defense have been front-and-center. With the lack of a traditional offseason and with a truncated training camp the thought was that teams would be a little sluggish out of the gate and that we may see some ugly, low-scoring games through the first month until everyone got into a rhythm.

2011 NFL Power Rankings – Week 2
by Robert Ferringo - 9/13/2011
Besides the individual results there were some obvious trends that NFL bettors should have noted in the opening week. The ‘over’ was an incredible 12-3-1 this week, and it will be interesting to see if the books and gamblers overreact while betting on NFL totals this week. Also, the underdogs were the play in the openers, with the puppies going 8-6-2 ATS and notching six outright victories. The Week 2 NFL odds don’t appear to be shy about handing out points, however, with six of 16 opening lines featuring spreads of a touchdown or more.
How NFL Preseason Results Affect Regular Season Handicapping
by Robert Ferringo - 9/9/2011
I went back through this year and tracked how the first-team units of all of the NFL teams did during their exhibition games. My study was super-scientific, but I feel like it (as well as actually watching the tape) has given me a great idea of who kind of has it together and is playing well heading into the season and who is still recovering or struggling after this goofy offseason. And yeah, I think that is relevant, so I definitely considered some of this information toward my early season NFL handicapping.

2011 NFL Power Rankings – Week 1
by Robert Ferringo - 9/6/2011
The war drums are beating and the mutant warriors are on the march. This week begins a five-month gauntlet of games that will end with one champion and a lot of busted bankrolls. Summer is dying a slow, beautiful death. And in its passing it is making way for the most glorious time on the sports and football calendar: NFL betting season.
2011 NFC South Predictions and NFL Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/26/2011
It is high times for the NFC South. In 2010 they were the only division in football to boast three teams with double-digits in wins. They housed the defending Super Bowl champions (New Orleans) and scored the NFC’s No. 1 seed (Atlanta). Tampa Bay established itself as an up-and-comer and even though Carolina was the worst team in football they were able to secure a Heisman Trophy winner (one of two drafted into the division this April) to bolster the franchise.
NFC North Predictions and NFL Odds for Super Bowl
by Robert Ferringo - 8/25/2011
The NFC North is the perfect example of the changing face of the NFL. Long the roughest, toughest division in football – The Black-and-Blue Division – the teams in the North were renowned for their bruising brand of football. However, as rule changes have softened the sport and created les incentive for physicality, the North has altered its preferred style.
2011 AFC West Predictions and Super Bowl Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/25/2011
The Raiders swept their six AFC West games in 2010 and finished in third place in the division. The Chargers had the No. 1 offense and No. 1 defense in the entire league and didn’t make the playoffs. The Broncos – who have owned the Raiders for decades – lost 59-14 at Mile High Stadium to their rivals from Oakland.
NFC West Predictions and NFL Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/24/2011
About the nicest thing that I can say about NFC West football is that it makes a great punching bag. The NFC West is a bit like the minor leagues of the NFL. Outside of a few glimpses, this division has generally produced the weakest collective group of teams in the sport.
2011 AFC North Predictions and NFL Futures Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/23/2011
You know exactly what you’re going to get from the AFC North each year: Blood and pain. Pittsburgh will again be a Super Bowl threat. Baltimore will again be the able challenger led by a violent defense. Cleveland and Cincinnati? Yeah, they suck just as badly as they have for the past 20 years.
2011 AFC South Predictions and Super Bowl Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/23/2011
Indianapolis has had a stranglehold over this division since its inception in 2002. But Peyton Manning’s offseason neck surgery has sidelined the future Hall of Fame quarterback throughout the preseason. And if he can’t go or is limited this season while at the helm in Indy then the door is wide open for another team to jump up and seize the throne of the AFC South.
2011 AFC East Predictions and NFL Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/22/2011
Only two teams in the NFL have managed to dominate their respective divisions to the tune of winning seven titles in eight years. The first is Indianapolis in the AFC South. The second is the New England Patriots, who have made the postseason in 12 of 17 seasons and demolished the AFC East for the past decade.
2011 NFC East Predictions and NFL Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/19/2011
Separating Hype from Hope in the NFC East can be a dicey proposition. The four teams that comprise this venerable division are four of the most successful, proud, storied organizations in the sport. And no matter what the offseason give-and-take produces there is always the belief that these teams are among the best in the conference and in the sport.
NFL Power Rankings – Preseason Edition

We have taken the first steps of another six-month long gambling odyssey. We are walking into a chasm of agony and ecstasy, with fame and fortune available to those that can keep their mind sharp, their emotions holstered, and their focus oaken throughout this gauntlet of games, gambling and gravity.
2011 Big Ten Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/12/2011
It’s the dawn of a new day in the Big Ten. The new 12-team conference will welcome in a new, division-based structure and will have the conference’s inaugural championship game to look forward to. However, given the disastrous offseason at Ohio State and the continued rebuilding at Michigan there is a power vacuum at the top of the Big Ten that we haven’t seen in ages.
2011 Pac-12 Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/10/2011
Maybe now the Left Coast will get some love. The Pac-10 is no more, choosing instead to swell its ranks to 12 teams, institute a new divisional system, and implement a championship game that should keep this conference in the news well into December. It is a pretty heady time in the Pac-12. And with new promise and potential comes new expectations.
2011 SEC Football Predictions and Futures Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 8/8/2011
It’s rare to ever describe a college football conference as a dynasty. But after five straight BCS National Championships (and six of eight titles) the SEC has established itself as a monolith on the NCAA football landscape. This year the SEC will again attempt to impose its will on the rest of the country.
