2021 Maryland Terrapins Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/25/2021
Maryland’s 2020 season kind of summed it up as a microcosm of the Big Ten last year. The Terps pulled two of the biggest upsets in college football last year in back-to-back weeks. First they beat Minnesota in overtime, 45-44, as a 21-point underdog. Then they followed that up the following Saturday with a 35-19 win over Penn State in Happy Valley as a 27-point underdog.
2021 Illinois Fighting Illini Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/20/2021
I predicted in 2019 that Lovie Smith was not long for Champagne. Here we are two years later, and Smith is no more. However, Illinois may have failed upward in recruiting former Wisconsin headman Bret Bielema to resuscitate this woebegone program. Bielema, like everyone else in the Big Ten, is going to have a lot of experience to work with. Unfortunately he is not going to have a ton of talent, though.
Best Bets NFL Preseason: Wagering Advice and Tips
by Robert Ferringo - 8/18/2021
I used to think that betting on the NFL Preseason was somewhere between absurdity and insanity. Surely, only true degenerates and masochists are looking to put down actual money on a game that features fourth-string quarterbacks from the Mountain West running two-minute drills with receivers that will be moving furniture in a couple weeks.
2021 Northwestern Wildcats Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/10/2021
Not everyone suffered through the COVID season. Some teams, with Northwestern being at the top of the list, thrived in the bizarro reality that was 2020. The Wildcats went 7-2, nearly won the Big Ten Championship, and hammered SEC foe Auburn (35-19) in the Citrus Bowl. They finished the season in the Top 10 for the first time since the dream season of 1995.
2021 Purdue Boilermakers Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/10/2021
In 2019, I was all over a Purdue collapse. Their season win total coming into that season was 7.0, and they barely won half that number, easily cashing my ‘under’ ticket on them in the process. Things got even worse last season for the Boilermakers as they slogged their way to a 2-4 COVID-marred season. They are an afterthought in the Big Ten this year, which is to be expected for a program that has just one winning season in the last eight tries.
2021 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/10/2021
Most major mistakes in life you just have to live with. Do-overs are pretty rare. Yet Greg Schiano is getting a second chance and an opportunity to re-write his story. And if 2020 was any indication, he is going to make the most of it. Schiano put Rutgers football on the map in the mid-2000’s, taking one of the most embarrassing programs in college football and turning them into a Top 10 program. If I had not seen it happen with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed that it did.
2021 Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Predictions: Season Win Total Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/10/2021
This feels like a now-or-never season for Nebraska and Scott Frost. I don’t think that Frost is on the proverbial hot seat. However, the shine is definitely off his star after three straight losing seasons. Frost arrived from Central Florida with pomp and parades. Now he needs to needs to start showing some significant returns or the Cornhuskers may have to at least think about what the next phase will be in their 20-year rebuilding period.
2021 AL West Predictions and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 4/1/2021
Two years ago, the Houston Astros were -800 to win the American League West. Playing the regular season was a mere formality, and Houston ended up taking the division title with 107 wins and a 10-game margin over second-place Oakland. Last year Oakland won the West in the truncated 60-game season.
2021 NL West Predictions and Expert Betting Advice

The Los Angeles Dodgers were finally able to shake off several recent heartbreaks, specifically losing in the World Series in 2017 and 2018 to the cheating-their-asses Astros and Red Sox, respectively, and claim L.A.’s first world championship in over 30 years. The Dodgers were able to take that next crucial step and become champions. Now they want to take another step and become a dynasty.
2021 NL East Predictions and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 4/1/2021
The National League East is by far the best division in baseball. It is the only division with four teams boasting season win totals of 81.5 or higher, and this group could produce one of the best pennant races of the decade. Atlanta has won three straight division titles and is the favorite to do it again. But the Mets loaded up with one of the biggest offseasons in baseball, Washington still has the starting staff intact from their 2019 World Series championship team, and Philadelphia might be the most underrated team in all of baseball right now.
2021 NL Central Predictions and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 4/1/2021
For my money, the National League Central is the most competitive division in baseball. It is definitely not the best division in the Major Leagues. It isn’t even the second-best division. But with four legitimate contenders for the N.L. Central crown, this division could provide us with one of the best races of the season.
2021 AL Central Predictions and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 4/1/2021
This division is still pathetic. I’ve read all kinds of missives about Minnesota’s potential as a World Series sleeper and Chicago’s priming for a return to relevance. It’s all nonsense. The American League Central is by far the most pathetic division in baseball. And winning the worst division in the sport doesn’t make a team a true competitor for the American League crown.
2021 AL East Predictions and Expert Betting Advice
by Robert Ferringo - 3/31/2021
If betting value is what you crave, then I must direct you away from the American League East this MLB betting season. The East is one of the most highly publicized divisions in baseball. New York and Boston are two of the sport’s biggest draws, and Tampa Bay is the defending American League champion. Toronto is also an exciting team full of young, up-and-coming stars and has enjoyed its share of headlines.
2021 AAC Tournament Predictions and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/10/2021
The American Athletic Conference hit a high-water mark in 2019. It sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament and nearly had a signature moment for the league when Central Florida almost pulled a colossal upset over Duke. Things have been a lot choppier since then. Connecticut skipped out and returned to the Big East. Wichita State fired its coach under a cloud of controversy. Cincinnati and Temple bid adieu to successful long-time coaches and have joined Central Florida and Tulsa in rebuilding efforts.
Weekend College Basketball Primer
by Robert Ferringo - 2/25/2021
March is just days away. And that means that March Madness is here! The coronavirus pandemic robbed us of the conclusion of conference tournaments, the NCAA Tournament, and all the weirdo, second-tier tournaments last year. So now I feel the pent of gambling energy of two years built up inside of me. And I am ready to unleash the fury during one of the greatest sports betting months on the calendar.
2021 NCAA Tournament Projections and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 2/23/2021
What a mess. The college basketball season has been a disjointed, uneven roller coaster ride through the heart of one of the worst public health crises in the history of our country. But hey, we’ve made it this far. And now the hope is that everything will fall into place so that we can enjoy the conference tournaments and NCAA Tournament that we were robbed of last March.
Robert Ferringo Picks the Most Popular Super Bowl Props
by Robert Ferringo - 2/3/2021
Well, Sunday is The Big Game. And while I have already laid out my 2021 Super Bowl predictions pretty clear right here I wanted to give an update on where I stand on some of the more popular/ridiculous Super Bowl prop bets set to take place this weekend. Now, I have already broken down which Super Bowl props to avoid in 2021 and given a relatively thorough analysis of why betting on the Super Bowl coin toss isn’t a high-value situation. However, despite my best efforts to avoid these props, I just can’t seem to shake them.
NFL Power Rankings Week 17
by Robert Ferringo - 12/29/2020
Greed is good. Since the coronavirus explosion in March, I have had an unshakeable reliance on the overall greed and sociopathology of NFL owners to see to it that there would be a full and completed NFL season. I don’t mean that as a pejorative, simply as a statement of fact. And, well, here we are. This week marks the completion of the NFL regular season. The playoffs are the icing on the cake. The fact that we’ve had four uninterrupted months of football is a silver lining in an otherwise horrific year. And the driving force behind that reality has been the overwhelming greed of those at the top of the professional football food chain. So good job.
NFL Power Rankings Week 16
by Robert Ferringo - 12/24/2020
There have been 41 games this season in which a team lost a game despite holding at least a 14-point lead. I want you to think about that for a second. We’ve played 15 weeks. And we’ve had 14 comebacks of two touchdowns or more. That is an average of three wild, can’t-believe-they-did-that comebacks every…single…week.
NFL Power Rankings Week 15

It’s time to tank. I know that players and coaches in the NFL all say the right things about tanking. They talk about how people are fighting for jobs and for money so it is impossible to tank. They talk about how physically it doesn’t make sense for teams to sit back and get rolled over. They talk about pride and professionalism.
