It was another break even weekend for the house. It seems like every weekend during baseball we make a bundle on Saturday and lose it all back Sunday. We even joke about just closing on Sundays until football season starts since the players seem to hammer us so consistently. More than anything, it's just kind of boring. Big decisions, win or lose make this job exciting and during the dog days of baseball we just don't have the big decisions. Football and the MLB playoffs are just around the corner though and we are ready to rock are you?
Saturday was a decent day for the house with the two biggest decisions of the day going our way as Kip Wells and the Pirates knocked off the Astros and Roger Clemens in a pitchers duel 1-0. Tampa Bay beating the Indians and Scott Elarton who was a -240 favorite was big as well. This time of year, it’s a pretty good bet that any time the Devil Rays win, we win. For that matter any time the Royals, Rockies, D’Backs, or Mariners win at this point in the season it’s almost guaranteed we win.
Sunday was another story though. The Nationals clobbered the Rockies and cost us big time. The Angels pounded the Mariners where we saw a monster 25 cent line move from -140 all the way to -165. We could have gone to -200 and it wouldn’t have mattered in that one. The last of the ‘gimmes’ Sunday was when the Braves lit up the D’backs. All three of our big decisions were big winners for the players and helped balance the scales.
Until next week, may all your wagers be winners
