by Dave Schwab - 3/30/2015
While college basketball has dominated the betting action for most of the month of March, I am shifting my attention back to the NBA for this week’s Odds Shopper. There are a pair of matchups on Tuesday’s night slate that offer some solid value in light of the current betting odds on the board. Hopefully, I can get some additional movement in my favor to add even more value to these plays.

Doc’s Sports: Looking back at the action from the first few rounds of this year’s men’s NCAA Tournament, the Sweet 16 is filled with five of the top eight seeds. For the most part the favorites have held up pretty well across the board, so who won the first go-round in this year’s Big Dance; the bettors or the Las Vegas books?

A. Andre Drummond. The Detroit Pistons’ center insists he is not dating porn star Jenna Shae after a picture of them at a bowling alley surfaced recently on the internet. Of course, given Drummond’s track record they may have dated and already broken up. His relationship with actress Jennette McCurdy lasted all of a few days.
Case of the Mondays: …and the Agony of Defeat
by Ricky Dimon - 3/23/2015
With a few exceptions, for every NCAA Tournament hero there is an accompanying goat. The collapses by Baylor and LSU were so epic and complete that they required an entire team effort. And that’s exactly what they got. Speaking of late-season breakdowns, the Thunder and Penguins are still in their respective playoff pictures…but they are certainly making things interesting.

Sports Betting Futures Odds: Cavs Still Favorites Despite Standings
by Ricky Dimon - 3/20/2015
March Madness is underway, and the first day of the NCAA Tournament was nothing short of absolute chaos. But don’t forget about the NBA. Teams are down to their final 10 games, jostling for playoff positioning and seeding. Action on the diamond is also rapidly approaching. Yes, it’s safe to say spring is brining the most wonderful time of the year (well, for non-football fans at least).

A. Anderson, Justin. If Alex Poythress came back for Kentucky for the NCAA Tournament (he isn’t), it would just be unfair. If Anderson comes back to full strength for Virginia for the NCAA Tournament (he might), it will simply level the playing field. Anderson actually played in UVA’s two ACC Tournament games after being sidelined by an appendectomy and a broken finger, but he did not score a single point. The Cavaliers are -16.5 favorites over Belmont, per Sportsbook.ag.

Case of the Tuesdays: Syracuse Excused From Postseason Duties
by Ricky Dimon - 3/10/2015
The ACC Tournament has not yet begun and Syracuse's season is already over. Future seasons have also been compromised after penalties were hammered down on the program last week in the wake of a multi-year investigation into the university’s athletic programs. On the diamond, meanwhile, Yu Darvish's season could be over before it even starts. Let's just say he may soon be hearing the dreaded words: "Dr. James Andrews."

by Ricky Dimon - 3/3/2015
It’s March, which means the Final Four is already on everyone’s mind. But there is also a proverbial final four in the NBA, where the MVP race is coming down to a quartet of stars. Nobody other then Stephen Curry, James Harden, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook is better than +5000 (Marc Gasol) to bag the league’s most prestigious individual honor.

The Bulldogs may have suffered an additional loss, too, give that they are battling for NCAA Tournament seeding position. On the subject of jostling for postseason spots, the Dallas Mavericks are on a steady decline down the Western Conference standings.

A. Amar’e Stoudemire. Stoudemire did not last long on the open market after being waived by the Knicks. As expected, he signed with the Mavericks almost immediately thereafter. It seemed like a good idea at the time…then Rajon Rondo decided to ignore Rick Carlisle’s play-calls. Now Dallas has issues. The Mavs are +900 at Bovada Sportsbook to win the Western Conference.
