Case of the Tuesdays: Blue Christmas in New York
by Ricky Dimon - 12/25/2012
That the New York Jets missed the playoffs is hardly a surprise. But the Big Apple having not a single postseason participant this year? That is a concept that was — and still is — hard to believe. Barring a Christmas miracle, however, it is a week away from becoming a reality. The Giants, assuming they are left on the outside looking in, will become the second NFL franchise to miss the playoffs one season after winning the Super Bowl three different times (the G-Men have already done it after winning both XXI and XXV).

Back to the Futures: Mile High on a High after Ideal Weekend
by Ricky Dimon - 12/18/2012
Everyone assumed that it would take a while for Peyton Manning to find his rhythm and for the Denver Broncos to gel. But nobody could have anticipated the extent to which it has become a tale of two seasons in the Mile High City. Once 2-3, the Broncos are now 11-3 and in position for the No. 2 seed (and a first-round bye) in the AFC.
Case of the Mondays: Bucs, Giants Play Hot-Potato with the Football
by Ricky Dimon - 12/17/2012
Combined, the Bucs and Giants had as many turnovers on Sunday as Pittsburgh had in one game earlier this season. That doesn’t sound so bad at first mention…until you remember that said number is eight! Tampa Bay (five giveaways) and New York (three) were among three teams that did not score a single point yesterday. And that doesn’t even begin to cover all of the pathetic displays in Week 15 (Lions, anyone?).

Back to the Futures: Brady Bunch Sends a Monday Night Message
by Ricky Dimon - 12/11/2012
Proud franchises became even prouder over the course of the last week. Perennial Super Bowl contender New England cemented itself as the favorite for the Lombardi Trophy. Oklahoma City and San Antonio have won a combined 13 consecutive games. Manchester City held off its little brother to take a commanding lead in the Premier League. And the Dodgers are making no secret about their willingness to spend whatever it takes to secure another world championship.
Case of the Mondays: ‘Skins Catch a Break
by Ricky Dimon - 12/10/2012
For one fleeting moment, it looked like our nation’s capital was going to be saddled with a case of the Mondays that would be the standard by which all past, present, and future cases of Mondays would be judged. With the Redskins already trailing Baltimore 28-20 in the final minutes, RGIII suffered what looked like a serious leg injury. Instead of an unmitigated disaster, Kirk Cousins led the team to a critical comeback win and the MRI mercifully came back negative.
Weekly Q&A with Doc’s Sports Expert Handicapper Vegas Sports Informer
by Doc's Sports - 12/4/2012
Doc’s Sports Service has gone to great lengths to provide its loyal customers access to some of the top handicappers in the sports selection industry, but we really hit the jackpot a little over four years ago with the addition of the Vegas Sports Informer. For the past 15 years VSI has been honing his handicapping skills in the Mecca of the sports gaming world. One of the main benefits of this experience has been his ability to combine a unique skill of breaking down matchups with a wealth of knowledge gained from working behind the counter of one of the biggest books in Las Vegas. The result has been a solid track record of consistent winners in a number of different sports.
Back to the Futures: Here’s Johnny!
by Ricky Dimon - 12/4/2012
Heisman Trophy odds fluctuated wildly throughout college football’s regular season, with Geno Smith achieving borderline lock status after just a few games before Collin Klein assumed a similar mantle midway through the 2012 campaign. Now it’s Johnny Manziel out in front, as he has been since turning the Tide last month. Saturday’s proceedings in New York are expected to be a coronation of the freshman phenom, but stranger things have happened….
Case of the Mondays: Singing the Annual BCS Blues
by Ricky Dimon - 12/3/2012
Has any unbiased observer ever felt good the Monday after the BCS selections? It never ends well, and it certainly didn’t this year. Northern Illinois is in a BCS game. Louisville is in the Sugar Bowl instead of the Orange Bowl. Georgia isn’t anywhere to be found in BCS games. Neither are three other teams in the Top 10 of the BCS rankings.
This Week in Sports Betting, A-Z

A – Autographs. After Denver's win at Kansas City on Sunday, Peyton Manning was asked for autographs and photo-ops – by two Kansas City Chiefs! And these weren’t just a couple clipboard holders asking Manning for some souvenirs, these were Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe, the only two Chiefs worth a damn in fantasy football.
This Week in NFL Betting by the Numbers
by Ricky Dimon - 11/29/2012
Only five weeks remain in the NFL’s regular season. For some, that’s good news. For others, that’s great news. It’s a good thing for leaders of every AFC division other than the South (New England, Baltimore, and Denver) and Atlanta in the NFC North. All four of those teams can mathematically clinch division titles. It’s a great thing for cellar-dwellers like the Chiefs and Eagles, who can begin their driving-range sessions and start setting up tee-times.
This Week in College Football Betting by the Numbers
by Aaron Smith - 11/29/2012
It’s Championship Week in college football for quite a few teams across the country. We already know of one team that will be in the National Championship Game, but the second team remains undecided. The winner of the SEC Championship Game seems to be a shoe-in for the spot. A few weeks ago the SEC looked like it would be left out, but now many predict a seventh straight BCS Champion from the SEC.

Back to the Futures: College Football Picture Clearing Up
by Ricky Dimon - 11/27/2012
And then there were three. The BCS National Championship is all down to three teams, just as the Heisman Trophy race has been narrowed down to three players. Manti Te’o is still in the hunt for both pieces of hardware, but he’ll have to take down the SEC Champion for one and surpass a stud SEC quarterback for the other.
Case of the Mondays: Slip-sliding Away from Title Contention
by Ricky Dimon - 11/26/2012
They say one is the loneliest number. That may be true, but not when it comes to the BCS standings. The number is three; just ask the Florida Gators. They picked up another big win on Saturday, but they are third in the rankings, and that’s where they’ll remain when the championship matchup is determined. Although no fault of their own (aside from that turnover fest in an October loss to Georgia), the Gators could not have been feeling good when they woke up on Monday.
Back to the Futures: BCS Odds on a Rollercoaster Ride
by Ricky Dimon - 11/21/2012
Turn away for one second and you will no doubt miss a significant, BCS-shaking development on the college football field. The National Championship odds fluctuating more frequently than Nicki Minaj’s wardrobe. For now, Alabama has returned to favorite status with Notre Dame second. For now….
This Week in Sports Betting, A-Z
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 11/21/2012
B – BCS. The combination of Kansas State losing to Baylor and Oregon losing to Stanford led a group of Alabama fans to celebrate (where else) in a Waffle House parking lot. The impromptu fracas was caught on tape and immediately went viral north of the Mason Dixon line. Not only do the Crimson Tide have renewed BCS Championship hopes, but they were also in close proximity to biscuits and gravy,. What's not to celebrate?
