This Week in NFL Betting by the Numbers: Baltimore Ravens
by Ricky Dimon - 1/31/2013
Well, this is it. After 249 games (228 in the regular season plus his 21st playoff game on Sunday), Ray Lewis is calling it quits. Win or lose, Lewis’ grand finale will come on the biggest stage in football — the Super Bowl, this one to be played in the Louisiana Superdome.
Back to the Futures: Losses Piling Up at Top of NCAAB Rankings
by Ricky Dimon - 1/30/2013
Misery loves company, and there is plenty of it near the top of the men’s college basketball rankings. Of course, the rankings shifted accordingly when the new ones were released on Monday — with former No. 1 Louisville finding itself down in 12th position (in the AP Poll) after a three-game slide that finally ended on Monday night. Duke lost for the second time in four games last Sunday, and it did so emphatically, by 27 points at Miami. Syracuse fell at Villanova last Saturday and has plunged to No. 6, one spot behind the Blue Devils.
Weekly Q&A with Doc’s Sports Expert Handicapper Vegas Sports Informer
by Doc's Sports - 1/29/2013
Doc’s Sports: Last week you mentioned that the early money for Super Bowl XLVII was pouring in on Baltimore along with some light action on the “under”. What do you see going on at the sportsbooks this week with the game just days away?
Case of the Mondays: Rondo Injury Puts a Dent in Celtic Pride
by Ricky Dimon - 1/28/2013
What the hell? The Los Angeles Lakers are winning basketball games? Well, two to be exact. But by their standards, that is a veritable winning streak. Just when it looked like Kobe Bryant and friends were in for another disastrous week (another losing skid had reached four with a loss at Memphis last Wednesday, 106-93), they won two in a row on Friday and Sunday. After taking care of Utah in the Staples Center, L.A. scored its biggest victory of the season by upsetting Oklahoma City, 105-96.
Thank God It’s Friday: Familiar Feeling for Falcons, Patriots
by Ricky Dimon - 1/25/2013
Four trips to the playoffs in the Mike Smith-Matt Ryan era, four losses prior to the final hurdle for the Falcons. As for the Patriots, they are accustomed to winning Super Bowls, but that has not been the norm of late. After losing last year’s Super Bowl in the final seconds, the Pats went down one game earlier this time around.
Back to the Futures: With Brady Booted, No Odds-On Favorite for SB MVP
by Ricky Dimon - 1/25/2013
We have a pretty good idea who will win the Super Bowl. After all, it’s finally narrowed down to two — the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. But who will lead his team to victory as the MVP? That’s a different story. There’s no Tom Brady. No Peyton Manning. No Eli Manning. No clear-cut favorite. Only one participating player (Ray Lewis in 2001) has ever won the award. So who’s it going to be?

A – Armstrong, Lance. Lance Armstrong became the biggest Manti Te'o fan on Wednesday when it turned out that Armstrong's Tour de France medals were as real as Te'o's girlfriend. The Te'o dead girlfriend hoax was so big it bumped Armstrong's scandal and marathon interview with Oprah off the front page.

Doc’s Sports jumped at the chance to sit down with The Informer on a weekly basis in order to get a first-hand, behind-the-scenes update on what is really going in the Las Vegas books as well as get his expert opinion on each week’s hottest trending sports gaming topics. Back to the Futures: Mile-High Meltdown Leaves Patriots as Favorites
by Ricky Dimon - 1/15/2013
And then there were four. By default, the disrespected Atlanta Falcons are finally among the top four Super Bowl favorites. They are actually third, just barely ahead of Baltimore. According to the oddsmakers, however, it is a two-team race between New England and San Francisco for the Lombardi Trophy.
Case of the Mondays: Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory
by Ricky Dimon - 1/14/2013
It was a wild weekend in the NFL, with four teams heading home for the offseason shaking their heads — albeit for different reasons. It will take weeks (longer?) for Denver for come to grips to how it lost to Baltimore, Seattle could not finish off what would have been a historic comeback in Atlanta, Houston still can’t figure out New England, and Green Bay’s defense was an insult to the NFL playoffs.
This Week in Sports Betting, A-Z
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 1/10/2013
A – AJ McCarron’s girlfriend. Brent Musburger, the ESPN announcer most famous for his not-so discreet gambling innuendos, made most of America aware of his not-so discreet boner for Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb. Musburger sounded like a dirty old man talking about Webb during the National Championship Game.
This Week in NFL Betting by the Numbers
by Ricky Dimon - 1/10/2013
The three scariest words in sports have dominated the headlines this week. They are, of course, none other than “Doctor. James. Andrews.” Mercifully, Robert Griffin III finally went under Andrews’ knife on Wednesday, so we can stop talking about players enjoying (or not enjoying) their offseasons and focus on the real issues at hand.

Back to the Futures: Hockey Returns, But NFL Playoffs Mean Nobody Cares
by Ricky Dimon - 1/8/2013
In case you missed it, hockey is back! But I digress. The NFL Playoffs are in full force, and that’s all anyone cares about or should care about. After one week of action in which the Top 4 teams sat at home and watched, the Broncos remain the favorite to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Odds, however, could turn upside down when the dust settles on what should be a wild weekend of divisional-round games.
Case of the Mondays: Fail to the Redskins
by Ricky Dimon - 1/7/2013
All four wild-card favorites advanced out of Round 1, so it’s not like any of the four losers had some kind of monumental meltdown, epic collapse, or devastating defeat. Indianapolis’ feel-good story with Andrew Luck and Chuck Pagano came to an end, Cincinnati did what it usually does whenever it actually gets into the playoffs, and Minnesota got blown out in the Frozen Tundra — as expected — with a backup quarterback.
Back to the Futures: We’re Talking About Playoffs
by Ricky Dimon - 1/3/2013
The 2013 NFL postseason begins this weekend, so it’s only appropriate to devote an entire piece to the upcoming show. Will Peyton Manning’s comeback campaign end with a second Super Bowl? Will Ray Lewis go out on top? Will Matt Ryan finally win a playoff game? We’re about to find out.

Back to the Futures: NFC Playoff Picture Only Getting Fuzzier
by Ricky Dimon - 12/27/2012
With one week to go in the NFL regular season, the six AFC playoff participants and all four division winners have already been determined. With a streaking Denver squad hosting Kansas City in Week 17, its No. 1 seed is all but assured, and the odds have acted accordingly.
This Year in Sports Betting, A-Z
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 12/27/2012
D – Disney World. There may have been nothing more unintentionally funny than the Eli Manning “I’m going to Disney World” commercial from February. Manning is likely the first Super Bowl MVP to literally be more excited about going to an amusement park than winning a Super Bowl.
