by Doc's Sports - 11/26/2013
Doc’s Sports: Last week the AFC featured the top matchup in the NFL with New England erasing a 24-point deficit to get past Denver in overtime. This Monday night we turn our attention to the NFC with 9-2 New Orleans on the road against 10-1 Seattle. Which conference power do you have coming out on top in this showdown?
Case of the Mondays: Quarterback Quandary on the College Gridiron
by Ricky Dimon - 11/25/2013
What the hell is happening to college football’s top quarterbacks? If you’re a Heisman Trophy contender and your name isn’t A.J. McCarron, you are having problems either on or off the field. Some of the top players at the professional ranks, namely Derrick Rose and Calvin Johnson, also endured rough weeks. This new week may be all about giving thanks, but right now is not the time for it.
Weekly Football Betting Public Action Report
by Trevor Whenham - 11/22/2013
It was a strong week for the Public Action Report last week. The five games that fit the criteria ended going 4-1 ATS, and included big underdog outright wins by the Steelers (+2.5) and Washington State (+11). This week we have three college football games that fit the criteria, so let’s continue the winning ways.

A. Auburn. The play of the year in college football came last Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn. A wild fourth quarter saw Georgia take a 38-37 lead with fewer than two minutes remaining before the Tigers won on a miracle fourth-down touchdown pass from Nick Marshall to Ricardo Louis. The successful 73-yard prayer keeps Auburn with just one loss and still in both SEC and national contention heading into a highly-anticipated Iron Bowl. Sportsbook.ag has Auburn at +800 to win the SEC Championship.

Auburn watched a 20-point lead turn into a two-point deficit against Georgia, but the Tigers had the ball at their own 27 and with 25 seconds to play, and Auburn somehow converted a fourth-and-18 when a Nick Marshall pass was tipped by a Georgia defender and caught by Ricardo Lewis, who raced the remaining 73 yards to give the Tigers an improbable 43-38 win against Georgia. It was the Play of the Year, and for Georgia +3 backers it was the bad beat of a lifetime.
Back to the Futures: Calm Before the Storm

No offense to Oklahoma State, but you know it’s not a huge weekend on the college football gridiron when ESPN “College GameDay” is being hosted in Stillwater. Of course, OSU vs. Baylor is a solid matchup, and Texas A&M vs. LSU is no joke, but this Saturday is nothing compared to Thanksgiving weekend. That’s when a whole host of rivalry games will paint an even more accurate picture of the National Championship landscape.

We needed Lady Luck on our side last week for our selection service, and she came through with flying colors. Things started off on a rough note with a loss right off the bat in Thursday night’s Marshall vs. Tulsa game. We went with the Thundering Herd as 13-point favorites and appeared to be in great shape after they jumped out to a 21-0 lead. They continued to light up the scoreboard, but multiple turnovers allowed Tulsa to hang around in a 45-34 final that failed to cover the spread.

Doc’s Sports: No. 4 Baylor has made an unexpected rise into the Top 5 of the BCS rankings with its 9-0 start. Can it take another step forward by possibly jumping No. 3 Ohio State with a victory over No. 10 Oklahoma State this Saturday night?
Case of the Mondays: Dogs Bit by Tigers, Bettors Snake Bitten

If you had big money on Georgia either straight up or against the spread versus Auburn over the weekend, you’re not getting over it anytime soon. The Dawgs had that game…. And then they didn’t. To say they (especially Aaron Murray) left it all on the field would be an understatement. Other teams (ahem, New York Knicks) have been losing in far less dramatic fashion and without the same fight.
Weekly Football Betting Public Action Report
by Trevor Whenham - 11/15/2013
We’re back for another week of the Public Action Report as we look to improve on a weaker week last time out. This time around we have three college games and two from the NFL to look at. Before we get to the games, let’s go over a very brief reminder of the criteria. We are looking for team for which the odds get more attractive even though they have enjoyed the bulk of the betting attention, with 70 percent or more of all bets placed on them.
NCAA Football Odds – The Week 12 Line Movement Report
by CarbonSports - 11/15/2013
With nearly three months of information at their disposal, the oddsmakers seem to be hitting the nail on the head in NCAA football betting on a much better clip. That’s why line movement in Week 12 can be described as minimal at best. Still, there are three big games on the board that feature some intriguing shifts in the spread. Most of the major games this weekend are holding steady or shifting slightly. These ones have some curious elements influencing their betting lines, so let’s take a deeper look and see what the market’s fidgeting can tell us.

A. Atlanta. The Braves will remain the Atlanta Braves, and they will still be playing within the city limits, but they are moving to Cobb County in 2017. After three more seasons, Turner Field—in the heart of downtown—will be no more. Team president John Schuerholz made the announcement from straight out of left field on Monday.
Back to the Futures: Manning, Broncos Still Favorites
by Ricky Dimon - 11/13/2013
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are not even in first place in their own division. One loss is one too many in the AFC West, because the Kansas City Chiefs are still undefeated. Nonetheless, Denver is still expected to rack up plenty of hardware next January and February.

A 29-hour tip off marathon this week effectively opened the 2013-14 college basketball season and has also opened the busiest time of the sports year. There is one perfect team remaining in the NBA (Indiana Pacers) and the NFL (Kansas City Chiefs), and there are no more winless NFL teams as both the Jaguars and Buccaneers notched their first wins of the season this week.

It took 11 weeks of college football to shake up the rankings at the top of the heap, but it finally happened with Oregon’s loss to Stanford last Thursday night. I had stated all season long that the Cardinal had been way too conservative with their offensive game plan in big games. I also stated that I did not believe they would be able to run the ball against Oregon, but that was certainly the case in this one-sided affair.

Doc’s Sports: When it comes to college football, Alabama and Florida State have repeatedly stood up to every challenge they have faced so far. Do you see both of these teams running the table from here on in to end up in the BCS title game against one another?
Case of the Mondays: Ducks Not Starting a Dynasty
by Ricky Dimon - 11/11/2013
Barring a miracle—or several—Oregon will not be winning a BCS National Championship this season. Previously on course for a potential date with Alabama in Pasadena, the Ducks suffered their first loss to Stanford last Thursday. Perhaps no setback on the gridiron was as crippling, but other teams turned in far worse performances than that of Oregon.
Weekly Football Betting Public Action Report

Things went well for the Public Action Report last week. UAB, Navy and the Vikings all covered spreads as we suspected they might, and only Arkansas’ failure kept us away from a perfect 4-0 sweep. That puts the Report at a nicely profitable 17-13 ATS over the last seven weeks — a solid 57 percent winning clip. Let’s keep on keeping on this week.

A. Andre Iguodala. Iguodala had himself a bit of a day on Monday night when Golden State handed Philadelphia its first loss of the NBA season. Draining a career-high seven three-pointers obviously would have been enough, but he added a ridiculous behind-the-back assist for what was surely the best pass of his career. The Warriors are +1500 at Sportsbook.ag to win the NBA Championship.

After charges of bullying, Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito is now Incognito from the Dolphins after receiving a four-game ban. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be incognito on the field for at least a couple of weeks after breaking his left collarbone on Monday night. Here at Behind the Numbers; our numbers are never incognito.
