Doc’s Sports: This Saturday in college football there are several conference championships on the line. One of the more intriguing matchups is in the ACC between red-hot Georgia Tech and undefeated Florida State. Is this the week that the Seminoles finally come up short after so many close calls this season?

December is one of the best months of the year to wager on sports, with so much action on the board, but you could be missing out on some serious earning potential if individual player prop bets are not a part of your current betting mix.
Case of the Mondays: Browns Lose Game, Hoyer May Lose Job
by Ricky Dimon - 12/1/2014
“Here’s Johnny!” That’s basically what the Cleveland Browns said to the Buffalo Bills early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, and Buffalo passed the test without too much trouble even though Manziel was far more impressive than initial starter Brian Hoyer. It was a rough week not only for Hoyer but also for plenty of other quarterbacks at both the professional and college ranks. J.T. Barrett, for example, is the second Ohio State signal-caller to be lost for the season.

A. Adam Silver. Silver has acted quite sensibly since taking over for David Stern as NBA commissioner, and he continued to do so when he published a recent op-ed in the New York Times arguing for Congress to legalize sports betting in the United States. Silver noted that “nearly $400 billion is illegally wagered on sports each year,” according to estimates, and therefore it should be brought out from under the table but carefully regulated. Sounds like a good idea.

One of the easiest ways to build you overall bankroll for any of the sports you currently wager on is adding player prop bets to the mix. Most of the major sportsbooks release player prop bet odds on a daily basis this time of the year with so much action on the board. These lines are not nearly as sharp as the betting odds for the games themselves, so this creates a perfect chance to gain the edge on the books.

College football’s regular season is down to its final two weeks. Where has the time gone? The picture is become a little bit clearer in the race to be a part of the four-team playoff, but all of the teams that are left in the running have some dangerous games between now and the end of the season. This week’s college football slate has quite a few subpar matchups, but next week there are a bunch of elite games.

A. Adrian Peterson. The NFL has suspended AP for the rest of the season as a result of his child-abuse scandal. Roger Goodell actually had the audacity to admit that part of the reason for the harsh punishment was that Peterson did not show enough genuine contrition for inflicting harm on his son. Sure that would have been nice to see from Minnesota’s star running back, but since when has contrition been a league requirement?
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Stoops Favored to be Next Florida Coach
by Ricky Dimon - 11/20/2014
Thanksgiving is near—exactly one week away in fact—and that can only mean three things: football, football, and more football. The college regular season is on the home stretch. While guys like Melvin Gordon are battling for the Heisman Trophy, other players—such as those on Florida’s roster—will be looking to send coaches out with some dignity. One of those coaches is Will Muschamp.

Doc’s Sports: A few weeks back you gave us your top four teams in college football, but in light of Mississippi State’s loss to Alabama this past Saturday, what does your list look like now heading into the final few weeks of the regular season?

This is the time of the year where the truly avid sports bettor has his or her best opportunity to build a bankroll, but it is very easy to spin your wheels if you fail to focus the proper attention on the best possible ways to cash in on the games. With so much action on the board at any given time, the best approach is to let the experts do the heavy lifting while you sit back and reap the rewards. This is where The Prop Machine comes into play.

Some major upsets in the college football world last week really changed the way the playoff rankings look. Auburn falling at home to Texas A&M was the biggest upset, and it likely ended the Tigers chances of making another run at the title. As the regular season winds down, there will be an even greater importance on each game.
Weekly Football Betting Public Action Report
by Trevor Whenham - 11/14/2014
Time for the latest edition of the Public Action Report. We’ve had technical issues galore this year, so the Report has been far from consistent. That means that we are due for a refresher on just what this beauty is. Betting lines operate basically like a market — the more demand there is for something, the higher we would expect the price to be, and vice versa. What we are looking for with the Public Action Report are situations in which the market doesn’t act as expected.
Sports Betting Futures: Hot Streaks Heat Up NFL MVP Race
by Ricky Dimon - 11/7/2014
Peyton Manning cooled off last week in another loss to Tom Brady, while other quarterbacks continued to post incredible numbers. The result is an intriguing NFL MVP race that is becoming more and more competitive by the week. Running back DeMarco Murray is certainly in the mix, but Brady and fellow signal-callers Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers are putting the most serious heat on Manning.

We’ve seen two weeks of the new College Football Playoff Rankings. There has already been a lot of discussion about what is right and what is wrong with the new format and the new rankings system. Keep in mind that there are still several weeks left and there are a bunch of big games. Don’t get too worked up about the current rankings because things are definitely going to change a lot between now and the end of the season.

A. Arizona Cardinals. Who needs the 49ers and Seahawks when you can have…wait for it…the Arizona Cardinals? If the season ended today, the much-ballyhooed NFC West would have two teams out of the playoffs and another (Seattle) as the No. 6 seed. No matter; Arizona is 7-1 and would have home-field advantage throughout the postseason—including the Super Bowl. The Cardinals have won four in a row, and no, they will not apologize for getting to face Brandon Weeden instead of Tony Romo last week. They are +450 at Bovada Sportsbook to win the NFC Championship.

Doc’s Sports: The battle for one of the top four spots in the newly formed College Football Playoff Rankings rages on, and a key game on this week’s slate takes us to our home conference; the Big Ten. Michigan State has been opened by most books as a three-point home favorite for Saturday’s showdown against Ohio State. How do you see this matchup turning out?

Case of the Mondays: Romo Doesn’t Play, Rivers Wishes He Hadn’t
by Ricky Dimon - 11/3/2014
It’s still early, but Tony Romo’s absence in Week 9 could end up impacting home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. With the conference’s best record at stake in a showdown between 6-1 Arizona and 6-2 Dallas, Romo missed the game due to a back injury, and the Cowboys lost for the second time in as many weeks. The Chargers lost in far more embarrassing fashion despite having their quarterback on the field. They, too, are suddenly mired in a losing streak after a hot start.
