Doc’s Sports: The NBA regular season has also reached the halfway point of its 82-game schedule, and in your blog, Straight Bet Talk, you recently posted Week 13 power rankings for all 30 teams as released by Bankerz Bets. It is pretty obvious that Golden State and Atlanta have been red-hot both on the court and at the betting window, but are there any other NBA teams out there that would be a strong play to go with right now?

Case of the Mondays: No Super Bowl Suspensions, but More NFL Trouble
by Ricky Dimon - 1/26/2015
There have not been and almost certainly won’t be any Super Bowl suspensions levied down on the Patriots for deflate-gate. But that does not mean the air was taken out of suspension talk over the weekend. Leave it to Josh Gordon to put himself at risk of missing next season. Speaking of missed seasons, Kobe Bryant is once again done for the year on the hardwood, and the Buffalo Sabres have apparently forgotten that there is still hockey to be played in 2015.

A. Aaron Murray. The engagement between Murray, a backup quarterback on the Chiefs and former UGA star, and his fiancйe ended earlier this month. He can find sympathy from his brother, Josh, who was the last man standing in the “Bachelorette” but recently broke off his engagement to Andi Dorfman. It will be tough for either one to do any better.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Deflate-gate Takes Sports World By Storm
by Ricky Dimon - 1/22/2015
All we are hearing about on the sports shows this week are “deflate,” “deflated,” and the like. But the question on some bettors’ minds is how often we will hear those words during the Super Bowl telecast. Speaking of deflated, there are three teams in the NBA who are positively hopeless: New York, Philadelphia, and Minnesota.

Doc’s Sports: The early money for Super Bowl XLIX appears to be going towards New England in a game that is now a “pick’em” on most boards after Seattle opened as a one-point favorite. Where do you see this pointspread settling in at once kickoff rolls around?
Betting with The Prop Machine and Free Tuesday Pick
by Doc's Sports - 1/20/2015
Wagering on sports is one of the most popular pastimes in this country, and with the biggest single-game betting event less than two weeks away in Super Bowl XLIX it’s time to sharpen your edge with a proven way to fatten up your bankroll.
Case of the Mondays: Green Bay Clutchless in Seattle
by Ricky Dimon - 1/19/2015
From a mathematical standpoint, Green Bay’s NFC Championship collapse was not one for the record books. But anyone who gave it the eye test knows it was one of the biggest chokes in NFL history. As for Sunday’s other game, there was no opportunity for any kind of meltdown. It was simply one-way traffic right from the start—thus setting up a mouth-watering Super Bowl matchup.

A. Atlanta Hawks. The NBA standings and ESPN’s power rankings are not a joke. Atlanta (30-8) is No. 1 in the Eastern Conference by an incredible four games, trailing only Golden State (30-5) overall, and it is No. 1 on ESPN’s power poll. The Hawks have won nine in a row and 23 of their last 25. They are -7.5 favorites at Boston on Wednesday, as indicated by BookMaker.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Not Too Early—Ohio State Favored to Repeat
by Ricky Dimon - 1/14/2015
The first-ever College Football Playoff ended two days ago, which means it’s high time to start thinking about the second-ever College Football Playoff. As for events on the much more immediate horizon, the tennis and golf seasons are about to heat up—literally. The golfers are in Hawaii, while Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and company are preparing for the Australian Open.

Doc’s Sports: Both Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota were unable to bring home a national title for their respective team this season, but which one of these high-profile quarterbacks would you take first in this May’s NFL Draft?
Case of the Mondays: Dez Drops the Ball, So Do the Broncos
by Ricky Dimon - 1/12/2015
To catch or not to catch? That is the question. Dez Bryant did not exactly drop a pass on what was the biggest play of Sunday’s divisional playoff game between Dallas and Green Bay, but he also did not get credited with a catch. Partly because of that determination, the Cowboys are going home. So, too, are the Broncos. As for Oregon, some of its players won’t even be allowed to make plays on Monday night.
Betting with The Prop Machine and Free Monday Pick
by Doc's Sports - 1/12/2015
There is a reason why some people are extremely successful betting on sports and why others are continually scrambling to keep their bankroll in the black. The successful bettors are either expert handicappers in their own right or smart enough to rely on an expert handicapper for their picks. When the best of the best in this game have a winning percentage in the 60-percent-plus range, betting on sports on a regular basis is not a do-it-yourself project.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Football Galore From Saturday Through Monday
by Ricky Dimon - 1/8/2015
Three days, five football games. All of them huge. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be a football fan’s delight, with four NFL divisional playoff showdowns followed by college football’s National Championship. By no means is it time to start looking ahead to next season…unless you’re Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines.

A. Armed Forces Bowl. In the biggest collapse since Kris Humphries' marriage to Kim Kardashian, Pittsburgh led Houston 31-6 last Friday. IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. WITH LESS THAN 11 MINUTES LEFT. But the Panthers failed to recover either one of two onside kicks, and the Cougars stormed back for a miracle 35-34 victory. Houston scored three touchdowns in the final 3:41 and converted a game-winning two-point conversion with 59 seconds remaining.

by Doc's Sports - 1/6/2015
Doc’s Sports: The college football season is down to its final game, and ever since August you have been touting Oregon as your pick to win this year’s national title. While we know you are going with the heavily-favored Ducks straight up in next Monday’s championship game, but can they cover against the surprising Ohio State Buckeyes?
Betting with The Prop Machine and Free Monday Pick

Some people bet on sports to add excitement to the games they love to watch. Others will wager on the outcome of sports as a test to their own personal handicapping skills. While there may be a number of other reasons why people bet on sports, the one at the top of everyone’s’ list is the desire to win.
Case of the Mondays: Bengals’ Futility Streak Hits 24 Years
by Ricky Dimon - 1/5/2015
The Bengals lost a playoff game. In news that may or may not be related, the sky is blue. Of course, there are teams out there who may be feeling even worse this Monday. At least Cincinnati did not lose at home (like the Steelers). At least it did not get hosed by the refs (like the Lions). At least it was not historically bad on offense (like the Cardinals). And at least it did not lose by 39 points (like Florida State).

A. Ann Arbor. Jim Harbaugh might as well have been king there for several weeks already, but his ascension to the throne became official on Tuesday. Harbaugh jumped ship from San Francisco to his alma mater, Michigan, and will make approximately $5 million per season over seven years. The contract also includes incentives; probably something like a lifetime supply of khakis if he beats Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes next fall. Ohio State is +800 at Bovada Sportsbook to win the National Championship.
Weekly Q&A with Doc’s Sports Expert Handicapper Raphael Esparza
by Doc's Sports - 12/30/2014
Doc’s Sports: In the past we have talked about the Las Vegas betting action slowing down over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, but I would imagine that the New Year’s holiday is a whole other ball game in town when it comes to betting on the games. Just how big is this time of the year for the books?
