Sports Betting Futures Odds: Nyquist Gunning for Triple Crown
by Ricky Dimon - 5/17/2016
Will there be a second Triple Crown winner in as many years? We won't find out in the affirmative this weekend as Nyquist would still have to win the third leg if he triumphs on Saturday, but we may be able to confirm that there won't be one-if one of Nyquist's rivals manages to beat him at the Preakness. Other non-major sports are also in full swing, with the PGA Tour hot on the trail to the U.S. Open and the ATP Tour gearing up for next week's French Open.

NBA's version of its final four is in place with both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals getting underway this week. Finding the best value in the series betting odds at Bovada in the East involves a high level of risk and reward based on the current moneyline odds.
Case of the Mondays: Heat Fail to Rise, Join Spurs in the Offseason
by Ricky Dimon - 5/16/2016
The NBA's conference semifinals failed to deliver drama that once seemed possible. Cleveland swept Atlanta despite almost losing three of the four games, Golden State got Stephen Curry back to take care of Portland in five, Oklahoma City caught fire to upset San Antonio in six (and the clincher was a snooze-fest), and the only Game 7-between Toronto and Miami-turned into a laugher. The story will likely be a similar one in the Eastern Conference Finals, but the West could give us something of interest.

Raphael earned his title as the Vegas Sports Informer during a long and successful career in the Las Vegas sportsbook industry. At one point during this impressive run he held the prestigious position of Director of the Race and Sports Book for MGM Grand's Aria until his retirement in 2013. Since then, he has been splitting his time between Las Vegas and the Big Easy in New Orleans running a successful and diverse sports investment service. The following is this week's Q&A with one of Doc's most interesting handicappers.

A. Alvarez, Canelo. Alvarez retained the WBC middleweight crown last weekend by knocking out Amir Khan in Las Vegas. The fight had been competitive until Alvarez landed a KO-worthy blow with his right hand in the sixth round. Gennady Golovkin, who was sitting ringside, could be the next challenger.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Team Nyquist Turns Attention to Preakness, Triple Crown
by Ricky Dimon - 5/10/2016
The Kentucky Derby has come and gone, and for a fourth consecutive year it was won by the favorite. That means the potential for a second straight Triple Crown is very real. In 2015 it was American Pharoah; now the candidate is Nyquist, an undefeated horse who prevailed by a little more than a length at Churchill Downs last Saturday. Speaking of favorites, Rory McIlory is considered the top contender at The Players Championship after another strong showing at last week's Wells Fargo Championship.

As both the NBA and NHL postseason wears on, the inside scoop on the teams that are left in the playoffs can become a very powerful handicapping tool. All the teams are probably a bit banged up given the grueling nature of these best-of-seven series in either sport, but any access you can uncover as to both the physical and mental health of a locker room can go a long way in trying to predict future outcomes.
Case of the Mondays: Spurs-Thunder Heading Back to San Antonio Tied 2-2
by Ricky Dimon - 5/9/2016
It will require at least two more games to decide the Western Conference semifinal series between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder. That much is guaranteed after the two teams split contests at each of the home venues.

A. Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks came up with a hat-trick of sorts; just not of the sort that any hockey team would ever want. They have now lost a Game 7 at home in three consecutive seasons after falling 2-1 to Nashville last Wednesday. Anaheim once led the first-round series 3-2 but also dropped Game 6 by 3-1 decision. Head coach Bruce Boudreau, who is now 1-7 lifetime in Game 7s, promptly got fired.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: One Year Later, Horse Racing Ready For an Encore
by Ricky Dimon - 5/4/2016
American Pharoah delivered a long-awaited Triple Crown to a much-maligned sport in 2015. Will that generate interest among the casual fan as horse racing season begins again? From a betting standpoint, interest is never problem-especially not at the Kentucky Derby, which will be held for the 142nd time on Saturday. It's a great time of year as playoffs in the NBA and NHL are heating up and the NFL is still buzzing in the aftermath of its wild and wacky draft.

One of the best ways to enhance your return on investment when it comes to betting on sports is diversity. Too many times sports bettors get into a comfort zone betting on just one sport. While this type of specialization can be a viable strategy, you should always be on the lookout for solid exclusive information for any bet that can put some extra cash in the overall betting bankroll.
Case of the Mondays: Clippers Crack, Charlotte Can't Close it Out
by Ricky Dimon - 5/2/2016
The Charlotte Hornets were not alone in suffering a tough first-round series loss, and they were not even the only team to fall in seven games. But no other club blew a chance to close things out on its home court. Charlotte went home for Game 6 with a 3-2 lead in hand only to fall victim to a Dwyane Wade onslaught before getting blown out at the Miami Heat in Game 7. Out West, the Los Angeles Clippers could not make it to a seventh game after seeing both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin go down.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Playoffs?!?! NFL Draft Briefly Stealing the Show
by Ricky Dimon - 4/27/2016
The NBA and NHL playoffs are going strong and just about ready to turn the page from round one to the conference semifinals. For three days (although really just Thursday night), however, the NFL will throw its hat into the ring in the form of the draft. The No. 1 and No. 2 picks have already been decided, but-as always-things could get crazy thereafter.

Doc's Sports already knew that Raphael Esparza was an expert handicapper when it came to beating the sportsbooks, but in this week's discussion we will take a look at how a couple of the biggest books in the game used him as an oddsmaker for a recent prop bet in the field of entertainment.

A. Arrieta, Jake. Arrieta tossed the second no-hitter of his career (and second in a span of 11 starts) when the visiting Cubs destroyed Cincinnati 16-0 last Thursday night. Of course, the real story here is that some Indiana University student stormed the field and actually celebrated with the Cubs on the mound for more than a few seconds. He said spending the night in jail was "worth every penny" and even his dad said that he was "proud" of his son. Welp. The Cubs are +450 favorites at BetOnline Sportsbook to win the World Series.

The favorites have been cleaning up in the early going of the NBA Playoffs both straight up and against the spread. However, how many games have you been able to cash in on? Simply betting favorites is not a sports betting strategy; betting on the ones that cover behind some insider tips is a viable way to build your betting bankroll.
Case of the Mondays: Judgment Day for Curry, Warriors
by Ricky Dimon - 4/25/2016
The Golden State Warriors own a 3-1 lead in their first-round series and are almost certain to finish off the Houston Rockets without too much trouble. But that is pretty much where the good news ends. Stephen Curry, who had just returned from a sprained ankle only to suffer a right knee injury when he slipped on a wet spot seconds prior to halftime of Game 4 on Sunday.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Capitals, Blues Looking Good in Stanley Cup Playoffs
by Ricky Dimon - 4/20/2016
The Washington Capitals were the Stanley Cup favorites heading into the playoffs and they have done nothing to change that status through three games against the Philadelphia Flyers. In a more surprising development, the St. Louis Blues are also one win away from the conference semifinals. They are leading the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 after picking up two consecutive road victories.
