A. ACC Championship. To heck with the turnover chain. Miami wishes it had a do-over chain. The Hurricanes failed to show up for last Saturday's ACC Championship, or perhaps they just got outclassed by a much better team. In what amounted to be a national quarterfinal, Clemson clobbered Miami 38-3 to punch its ticket to the College Football Playoff. There is one more game prior to bowl season; Navy is a -3.5 favorite over Navy on Saturday, per Bovada Sportsbook.
Case of the Mondays: Ohio State Out of College Football Playoff
by Ricky Dimon - 12/4/2017
Three teams were locks: Clemson, Oklahoma, and Georgia. For all intents and purposes, it all came down to Alabama and Ohio State for the fourth and final spot in the College Football Playoff. In the end, the committee went with the one-loss Crimson Tide over the two-loss Buckeyes even though 'Bama is not a conference champion. At least OSU made a case for itself; the same cannot be said for Miami (FL).

A. Alabama. That awkward moment when Alabama's basketball team made arguably even more news than its football team on the same day as the Iron Bowl…. On the hardwood, the Crimson Tide played the last 10:50 of their game against Minnesota with only three players. That was due to multiple ejections for a fight, a foul-out, and an injury. Amazingly, 'Bama outscored the Golden Gophers 30-22 during those 10 minutes and 50 seconds en route to an 89-84 loss. In the words of coach Norman Dale in Hoosiers, "My team is on the floor."

Sports Betting Futures Odds: Tiger Returns for Hero World Challenge
by Ricky Dimon - 11/28/2017
Tiger Woods is back. Well, perhaps chickens should not be counted before they hatch. So it would be more accurate to say that Tiger is scheduled to be back when the Hero World Challenge begins on Thursday in the Bahamas. The 14-time major champion last played in January at Torrey Pines before undergoing a fourth back surgery in April.
Case of the Mondays:Thanksgiving Blues for Cowboys
by Ricky Dimon - 11/27/2017
While the Philadelphia Eagles continue to feast on the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys are getting gobbled up by any and all opponents since Ezekiel Elliott was suspended. The result is a changing of the guard in the NFC East, where Philadelphia sits pretty with a 10-1 record-a ridiculous five games clear of the second-place Cowboys and Washington Redskins. A much different story is developing in the AFC West, where three teams are very much in contention.

A. Auburn vs. Alabama. Get your popcorn ready for the Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon. The winner will clinch the SEC West and face Georgia in the SEC Championship. Auburn must win in order to stay in College Football Playoff contention. Alabama is a -4.5 road favorite, per MyBookie.ag.

Case of the Mondays: How did that quarterback change work out for ya?
by Ricky Dimon - 11/20/2017
There are bad decisions, and then there is Bills' head coach Sean McDermott's decision to bench starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and replace him with Nathan Peterman. The rest is history-an infamous history that Buffalo can only wish to erase from its franchise record books. Peterman threw five interceptions on the way to a 54-24 loss to the Chargers. Will Peterman get another chance? In the college ranks, we already know that Jim Mora Jr. is not getting another chance to coach UCLA's final regular-season game.

A. Antetokounmpo, Giannis. There may be a new MVP in the NBA town, and his name is Giannis Antetokotompantemoetounpemotokopoko-or something. Antetokounmpo-or how about just Giannis?-is averaging 30.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game so far in 2017-18. And even though this is fifth NBA season, he is young enough (22) to be in college.

The football season across all ranks took some interesting twists and turns as result of the outcome in a number of games on last weekend's schedule. In this week's discussion with Doc's expert handicapper Raphael Esparza, we will get caught up on his take concerning a few highly-interesting developments in the world of football from a betting standpoint.
Case of the Mondays: Browns Now the Only Winless Team in the NFL
by Ricky Dimon - 11/13/2017
The San Francisco 49ers won an actual football game on Sunday. The Cleveland Browns, meanwhile, did not. Although the Browns led for more than a few minutes in their Week 10 outing, they eventually suffered a road loss to the Detroit Lions. Speaking of road losses, another one ended Butch Jones' tenure at Tennessee and Notre Dame's eliminated it from realistic National Championship contention.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Big Week for Mayfield in Heisman Trophy Race
by Ricky Dimon - 11/9/2017
Penn State running back Saquon Barkley stumbled and Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett fumbled (or more like threw interceptions) down the Heisman Trophy board last weekend. Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, however, moved in the distinctly opposite direction. Mayfield positively went off in a 62-52 victory over Oklahoma State.

A. Astros. It would not have seemed fair if the Astros had won that epic Game 5 and then gone on to lose the World Series. They didn't. Los Angeles extended the battle to a seventh game, but Houston got off to a strong start in the decider last Wednesday and coasted to a 5-1 victory. Thus the Dodgers are still in search of their first World Series title since 1988. L.A. is a +600 favorite at BetOnline Sportsbook to win it in 2018.

by Doc's Sports - 11/7/2017
While football continues to highlight the weekly betting action at Doc's Sports, in this week's discussion with expert handicapper Raphael Esparza we will also turn our attention to the start of a new season of college basketball to get his thoughts on a few teams that would be at the top of the list when it comes to betting on these early nonconference games.
Case of the Mondays: Texas Lose Watson, Lose to Colts
by Ricky Dimon - 11/6/2017
Houston, you have a problem. Although the fan-base still has to be riding the high of the Astros' World Series title, its NFL team is reeling. Rookie sensation Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL during practice last week and is out for the season. With Watson sidelined, the Texans fell at home to the lowly Indianapolis Colts. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jameis Winston did not make it through their blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Georgia, Alabama on Top in First CFP Rankings
by Ricky Dimon - 11/2/2017
An SEC team is No. 1 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, but it is not Alabama. Georgia is on top, followed by the Crimson Tide, Notre Dame, and Clemson. The teams ranked three through eight all have one loss, so no one other than the Dawgs and Tide is safe right now. Meanwhile, action is also heating up on the hardwood and the horse track this week.

A. Adam Gase. "We're the worst offense in football. Can't get any worse. I'm pissed. I'm tired of this. I'm tired of the offense being awful." That's what the Dolphins' head coach had to say about his team following last Thursday's 40-0 loss to Baltimore. Miami promptly unloaded running back Jay Ajayi to Philadelphia prior to the trade deadline. Bovada Sportsbook has Ajayi at -120 to gain more than 47.5 rushing yards in his debut with the Eagles on Sunday.

Case of the Mondays: Rough Week for Texans On and Off the Field
by Ricky Dimon - 10/30/2017
The Houston Texans' week started with owner Bob McNair likening NFL players to inmates. It ended with a last-minute loss to the Seattle Seahawks. While the Texans still have time to get back on track, the same may not be able to be said for the Chicago Bears-and certainly not for tight end Zach Miller. And although Sunday got off to rough start for Houston sports fans, it ended with quite a bang.
