Case of the Mondays: NFC South the Best Division in Football No More
by Ricky Dimon - 1/15/2018
The NFC South was generally considered to be the NFL's best division during the regular season. And why not? It put three teams in the playoffs, bagging both of the conference's wild-card spots. But the NFC Champion is South-free following brutal losses by the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints this past weekend. In the AFC, meanwhile, it's curtains for Pittsburgh.

Case of the Mondays: Chiefs, Rams Bow Out of Playoffs at Home
by Ricky Dimon - 1/8/2018
All four home teams were favored by at least six points in the wild-card playoffs. So, naturally, each of the two road teams won on day one of the NFL postseason. The Chiefs squandered an 18-point, second-half lead over Tennessee before the Rams got outplayed by defending NFC champion Atlanta from start to finish. On the college gridiron, there is one more game to go-and it is tonight's National Championship.

It is wild-card weekend in the pros, while Georgia outlasted Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma in an epic Rose Bowl to set up an all-SEC showdown against Alabama for the National Championship on Monday.

A. Alabama. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban got more than 400 write-in votes in Alabama's senate election last month. He may have gotten even more if the vote had come following the Sugar Bowl, in which the Tide blasted Clemson 24-6 to book a spot in next Monday's National Championship. Alabama is a -4 favorite over Georgia, per MyBookie.ag.

by Ricky Dimon - 12/20/2017
The Week 15 showdown between New England and Pittsburgh was almost certainly a battle for the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. And it did not disappoint-unless you're a Steelers fan. The Patriots survived a controversial thriller to move atop the conference standings. In the NFC, meanwhile, the up-for-sale Panthers are firmly in the mix.

A. Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid and French national team forward recently dressed up as a black basketball player for an '80s party. And get this: painting his whole body black was only the third dumbest thing he did. Second dumbest: he posted photos on social media. Dumbest: he defended himself by saying he is a Harlem Globetrotters fan, but he was wearing a 1969 NBA All-Star jersey-not a Harlem Globetrotters jersey. Wow.
Case of the Mondays: Rodgers' Return Ends on Brink of Elimination
by Ricky Dimon - 12/18/2017
Aaron Rodgers returned from a seven-game absence, but a trip to Carolina still proved to be too tough of a task for the Packers. Doomed by a flurry of turnovers, Green Bay lost to the Panthers 31-24 to find itself on the mathematical brink of playoff elimination. Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis, meanwhile, will not be returning next season. With the Bengals slumping at 5-9, Lewis' 15-year tenure will end without a single playoff victory.

A. Arizona State. The Sun Devils are 9-0 and up to No. 5 in the AP poll (five first-place votes) with wins over Kansas, Xavier, and Kansas State. No team on the college hardwood has a more impressive resume at this early stage of the season. Arizona State is +2000 at Bovada Sportsbook to win the National Championship.
Case of the Mondays: At What Price Glory?
by Ricky Dimon - 12/11/2017
The Eagles clinched the NFC East on Sunday evening. They also lost their starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Carson Wentz left his team's win over the Rams in the third quarter with a knee injury that was confirmed on Monday to be a torn ACL. Fellow QB Marcus Mariota also injured a knee, although not as severely, but his Tennessee team still has a long, long way to go before it can think about a division title.
