Weekly Q&A with Doc's Sports Expert Handicapper Raphael Esparza
by Doc's Sports - 5/15/2018
The conference finals in both the NBA and NHL playoffs are in full swing, and horse bettors have turned their attention to this Saturday's Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course. However, the biggest story this week is a recent US Supreme Court ruling that could pave the way for legalized sports betting in certain parts of the county in the not too distant future. Doc's Sports will cover all of these topics and more in this week's discussion with expert handicapper Raphael Esparza.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Justify Aiming for Second Leg of Triple Crown
by Ricky Dimon - 5/15/2018
It's another busy week in sports, with conference finals action in the NHL and NBA plus the NBA Draft lottery on Tuesday night. Horse racing will also share the spotlight for the second time in 2018 as Justify looks to build on his Kentucky Derby triumph two weeks ago by adding the second jewel of the Triple Crown to his resume at this weekend's Preakness.
Case of the Mondays: Lightning Striking Out So Far Against Capitals
by Ricky Dimon - 5/14/2018
During the regular season, the Nashville Predators compiled the best record in all of hockey and the Tampa Bay Lightning earned the most points in the Eastern Conference. The south looked like hockey country in the United States, but suddenly that is no longer the case. Nashville was eliminated by the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference semifinals, while the Washington Capitals are just two wins away from sending Tampa Bay home.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Familiar Faces on Top Early in Major League Baseball
by Ricky Dimon - 5/9/2018
The NBA Playoffs are in full flight, and Houston vs. Golden State is officially upon us, but-thanks mostly to the American League East-baseball is really starting to heat up. Contenders have already begun to separate themselves from pretenders early in the 162-game marathon. On the golf course, meanwhile, Tiger Woods is playing for a second straight week-this time at THE PLAYERS Championship.

A. Albert Pujols. A Derek Jeter home run it was not-but with his flare to right field during the Angels' 5-0 victory at Seattle last Friday night, Pujols became the 32nd player in Major League Baseball to reach the 3,000-hit milestone. The 38-year-old passed Roberto Clemente with a two-run single later in the game for hit number 3,001. Los Angeles is +1300 at GT Bets to win the World Series.
Case of the Mondays: Toronto is LeBronto, Cleveland is Believeland
by Ricky Dimon - 5/7/2018
The season is just about over for the Toronto Raptors. Exactly the same can be said of the Utah Jazz. One day after Toronto fell into a 3-0 series deficit against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah also found itself one game from elimination following a second consecutive loss to the Houston Rockets. On the ice rink, meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks can officially begin making their tee times.
Thank God It's Friday: Pacers Come Up Short in Upset Bid Against Cavs
by Ricky Dimon - 5/4/2018
The Pacers gave Cleveland everything it could handle during their Eastern Conference first-round series, but they ultimately came up short-perhaps victimized by officiating, by not having home-court advantage, and of course by LeBron James. Underdog Utah is also giving Houston a real test, at least so far. But the Jazz are still without Ricky Rubio, so the battle is even more uphill that it otherwise would be against the Rockets.

A. Allen, Josh. With at least a day to explain himself prior to the NFL Draft (compared to Laremy Tunsil not even having a few hours to explain his 2016 bong photo), Allen did just that. But he may have to do even more damage control for his old Twitter habits after getting picked by the Bills. Giants' safety Landon Collins said that if they were teammates, "He would have to explain himself as to why he did that. Because at the end of the day, people are going to continue looking at you sideways or turn their shoulder." Buffalo is +750 at MyBookie.ag to sign Dez Bryant.

by Doc's Sports - 5/1/2018
Horse racing takes center stage the first weekend in May with the running of the Kentucky Derby this Saturday at Churchill Downs. Doc's Sports expert handicapper Raphael Esparza has always had a fondness for the ponies, so we will be getting his betting insights on this race in this week's discussion. We will also get his thoughts on a few of the top trending topics for the ongoing NBA and NHL playoffs.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: Derby Day Coming Up in Kentucky
by Ricky Dimon - 5/1/2018
It's May, and that means only one thing. No, not playoffs in the NBA and NHL. It means the Kentucky Derby is here, duh! The Run for the Roses is this weekend, when a whole host of horses begin their bid for immortality in the footsteps of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. In other news, the NFL Draft has come and gone, so it is time to start looking ahead to what will transpire between the sidelines.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: NFL Releases Schedule, Prepares for Draft
by Ricky Dimon - 4/25/2018
Playoffs in the NBA and NHL are in full swing, but the NFL is not to be outshined. The latter released its 2018 regular-season schedule last week, and the draft will get underway in primetime on Thursday night. Where and when will Shaquem Griffin go? Which Georgia running back will be taken first? And it's never too early to start thinking about Week 1. Falcons or Eagles?!?!

by Doc's Sports - 4/24/2018
The final week of sports betting in the month of April is highlighted by a few tight matchups in the opening round of the NBA playoffs along with the start of the conference semifinals in the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs. This year's NFL Draft from Dallas gets underway on Thursday with the opening round, and most of the top sportsbooks have released any number of betting props for the proceedings. Add in a full slate of MLB games, and anything else that is on the current betting board, and you know it is going to be another busy week for Doc's Sports expert handicapper Raphael Esparza.

A. Arsene Wenger. The longtime Arsenal manager has announced that this season will be his last one. Wenger, 68, is by far the most successful manager in Arsenal history, and no English Premier League manager has ever enjoyed a longer tenure with one club.
Case of the Mondays: Everything Tight in the Eastern Conference
by Ricky Dimon - 4/23/2018
Three of the four Eastern Conference first-round playoff series are tied at 2-2, and that has to be considered bad news for Toronto, Boston, and Cleveland. Of course, it could be even worse for the Cavaliers; they trailed Indiana 2-1 before just barely pulling out a road win in Game 4 on Sunday. As for the Raptors and Celtics, they took care of business in their first two contests at home before losing twice on the road.

A. Abdul-Jabbar, Kareem. It was announced last week that Abdul-Jabbar will be among the athletes participating in the next Dancing With the Stars, along with Josh Norman and Tonya Harding. If he's even half as good at dancing as he was at acting in "Airplane," Abdul-Jabbar should contend.
Weekly Q&A with Doc's Sports Expert Handicapper Raphael Esparza
by Doc's Sports - 4/17/2018
This season's NBA and NHL playoffs are underway with first round action starting up last week, and the new MLB regular season enters its third week of play. Boxing is always high on the list for Doc's Sports expert handicapper Raphael Esparza, and the futures odds for next month's Kentucky Derby are now in play. It's a full week of sports betting at Doc's, and we will be covering all these topics in this week's discussion.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: NFL Draft Looms on Next Week's Horizon
by Ricky Dimon - 4/17/2018
The NBA and NHL playoffs are well underway, and Major League Baseball is picking up steam, but the fourth major American sport will soon share the spotlight. Will it be Sam Darnold or Josh Allen to Cleveland when the NFL Draft takes center stage next week? Who will be the first receiver off the board? Calvin Ridley? D.J. Moore? Someone else? We're about to find out.
Case of the Mondays: Cleveland Goes Down in Flames in Game 1
by Ricky Dimon - 4/16/2018
Is it already time to press the panic button in Cleveland? The Cavaliers underwhelmed throughout the regular season and failed to pick up the pace in Game 1 of the playoffs, getting blown out at home by Indiana on Sunday. San Antonio is also off to a rough start, but no team has it worse than the two of the three California-based NHL playoff representatives. Los Angeles trails Vegas 3-0, while Anaheim is down 2-0 to San Jose.
Sports Betting Futures Odds: It's Playoff Time in NBA and NHL
by Ricky Dimon - 4/13/2018
The NHL playoffs are underway, and the NBA will begin following suit on Saturday, when Golden State, Toronto, Philadelphia, and Portland-among others-tip off their bids for the title. Defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh is squarely in the mix yet again, and they hammered Philadelphia 7-0 in Game 1 of that first-round series.
