CFL Handicapping: Grey Cup Predictions and Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 11/23/2011
From the window of my home office I can see a CFL stadium. I’d take the NFL, or especially college football, any day over my home league, but I can’t help but be intimately familiar with the quirks and charms of our national undertaking.
Lots of Sports Handicapping Opportunities in the Summer
by Vegas Sports Informer - 7/13/2011
The dog days of summer are here, and for the sports gamblers these days are long and boring. You can go out and spend your money on baseball betting and maybe, just maybe, have a winning MLB season, or you can try and handicap the other “fringe” sports on the betting board. I’m not saying that you can’t make money betting on baseball, but I want to point out there are other sports that can make your summer a bit richer.
CFL Picks: Montreal Alouettes at Saskatchewan Roughriders Odds
by David Schwab - 7/7/2011
Montreal knows all too well how close these two teams are to one another after beating the Roughriders in the past two CFL title games by a combined four points. They also met twice in the regular season last year, with Saskatchewan pulling out a 54-51 overtime victory as a 3.5-point home underdog on opening day. The total went way ‘over’ the 54-point totals line. The Alouettes evened the score five weeks later with a 30-26 victory as a seven-point home favorite. The total stayed ‘under’ the 60-point line this time.
2011 Tour de France Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 7/5/2011
Much to my surprise, I love the Tour de France. I never used to pay it any attention at all, but I tuned in a few years ago for the first time when drawn to watching Lance Armstrong after my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I was hooked, and now I don’t miss a second of it. I know that there all sorts of issues with drugs and the like, but I just don’t care. These guys are incredibly freakish athletes, and the sport is just ridiculously packed with strategy, intrigue and drama. Great stuff.
July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds and Predictions
by Vegas Sports Informer - 7/1/2011
Before you go take a dip in the pool or find a place to watch the fireworks on July 4th, sit down with the family and watch the 96th annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. This eating contest has been going since July 4, 1916! The hot dog eating contest has been big for the betting public since ESPN has been showing it live.
CFL Picks: Edmonton Eskimos at Saskatchewan Roughriders Odds
by David Schwab - 7/1/2011
The Edmonton Eskimos and the Saskatchewan Roughriders renew their West Division rivalry in their 2011 CFL regular season opener this Sunday night. Kick off from Mosaic Stadium in Regina, SK is set for 7 p.m. (EST). Edmonton won three of its final four games last season, but it was a case of too little too late as it finished last in the West and missed the playoffs with an overall record of 7-11 both straight-up and against the spread.
NBA MVP Odds: Derrick Rose vs. LeBron James
by Tim Furious of BetUS - 3/9/2011
How do you properly qualify the Most Valuable Player? Metrics, statistics and highlight reels aside, I prefer to use phrases to qualify the NBA MVP race and the one. We all know what these phrases are, and before you nerds crack out our spreadsheets to show me some stats that I could care less about, consider that there’s only a few real ways to measure the quality of an MVP candidate.
This Week in Sports Betting, A-Z
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/24/2011
The NCAA: The home of the delayed punishment. First the NCAA suspended five Ohio State players for NCAA violations but not until next season. They were allowed to play in the upcoming Sugar Bowl. Then Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl was suspended eight games for recruiting violations but those suspensions did not come into effect until SEC play started two months later. And now the NCAA is laying the smack down on UConn coach Jim Calhoun by suspending him for recruiting violations for three games….but not until Big East play of NEXT year.

Grey Cup Picks: CFL Championship Game Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 11/24/2010
The Grey Cup - the Championship of the Canadian Football League - will be contested for the 98th time on Sunday afternoon in Edmonton. The Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Montreal Alouettes meet in a rematch of a truly crazy Grey Cup played in Calgary last year - Saskatchewan kicked the winning field goal with no time remaining, but they were called for too many men on the field, and they missed the second field goal wide to give Montreal a one-point win. It was one of the most soul crushing moments I have ever seen in sports.
FIBA Predictions: International Basketball Betting Odds and Picks
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 8/25/2010
The FIBA World Championships begin this week. While nowhere near as big in popularity and attention as soccer’s World Cup, the World Championships are also every four years and share similar qualification and scheduling formats to determine a winner.
2010 Tour de France Betting Odds, Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 7/1/2010
The Tour de France, the most grueling sporting event in the world, starts July 3 in Rotterdam. It finishes up 20 stages and 2,234 miles later in Paris on July 25. Like last year it starts out flat, and riders aren't likely to make bold moves or exert themselves until at least the early mountain stage starting in stage eight, and more likely until the four-day trip through the mountains starting in stage 14. It's always a tight race at the top with several riders in the mix, and this year is clearly no exception.
Best Winter Olympic Bets
by T.O. Whenham - 2/9/2010
The Olympics are finally just a couple of days away. I'm quite excited about the prospects of betting on the Games - mostly because of the novelty of it all. I mean, how often do you get to bet on biathlon? It will obviously be easier to bet the individual events when we get closer to them and we can get a feel for how things are going.
Best Upcoming Sports Events to Bet On
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/9/2010
Your Super Bowl hangover does not have to translate to wagering also. The Super Bowl is not the end of the gambling season, it is just the highlight of it. If you won your block pool or hit the Saints on the money line then there is plenty of big-time games and tournaments coming up to wager your newly found bankroll on. Here are the Top 10 upcoming events to wager on.
Searching for Value in Winter Olympics Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 1/21/2010
The closer we get to the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics (well under a month now - opening ceremonies go Feb. 12), the more intrigued I get by the betting opportunities that will be presented by the event. As a hockey fan and a Canadian I am of course on the edge of my seat about the hockey tournament, and hopeful that my boys can avenge their disastrous outing in Torino and reclaim Salt Lake City's gold medal.
Sports Betting Scams
by Max Powers - 1/11/2010
With the birth of the Internet many sports handicapping services have developed overnight and many of them claim to be well-established and well-respected businesses. Most are just fly-by-night operations and they are in the business to make a quick buck. Experience is one thing most of these companies lack and many of them try to compensate for that by saying them have been gambling for over two decades.
Sports Betting Christmas Wish List
by T.O. Whenham - 12/24/2009
Dear Santa, I've been a good boy this year. I was going to come see you in person to tell you that and give you my wish list, but I have this thing about sitting on the laps of grown men. I'll write it all down instead. I don't want much, and nothing on here is unreasonable.
Aria Sports Book: New Kid on the Vegas Block
by Vegas Sports Informer - 12/3/2009
It's no secret around Las Vegas that City Center is on everyone’s minds. MGM Mirage will unveil Project City Center this month and one of the towers that has a casino and sports book is called "Aria". The reason why I'm writing this article about this new casino in the desert is that this sports book is one of a kind.
Winter Olympics Betting Odds: A First Look
by T.O. Whenham - 11/30/2009
It doesn't seem possible, but the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are now just over two months away - they run Feb. 12-28. There will be plenty of betting opportunities when the events are underway, and some oddsmakers have jumped the gate and put out some Olympics betting odds already.
Sports Betting Locks - Buyer Beware
by Max Powers - 11/20/2009
With the invention of the Internet, numerous sports handicapping Web sites have popped up overnight and they all claim that they are the service that can make you money. This still is the one and only goal of a selection service and if you can achieve this more often then not you should have a long career in this business.
