The 49ers had an incredible season a year ago, finishing as the league’s runner up. The 49ers went 12-5 during the regular season, with two winning streaks of five or more. Of their five losses, the biggest loss was a 14-point loss to the Bengals. However, the other four losses were by a combined 16 points. On the flip side, only one of their 12 regular season wins was a one possession game. In the playoffs, all three of their games were decided by three points, with wins over the Packers and Lions and then a 25-22 overtime loss in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It was a tale of two halves for the offense as they averaged just 19.8 PPG through their first nine games but averaged 28.3 PPG in their final eight games.

Josh Dobbs was brought in to replace him. And though he did win the next two games (to extend the streak to five), he and Nick Mullens failed to finish the season strong.

And now they have some playoff experience under their belt.

Last season was one to forget for the Atlanta Falcons, as they ended the year losing four of their last five games and ultimately missing out on the chance to win the division. Playing in one of the worst divisions in the NFL has helped Atlanta be on the cusp of the playoffs for many years, but they have failed to make it to the postseason, as their last playoff appearance was in 2017. Atlanta desperately needs to improve on its 7-10 mark so they can end their playoff drought.
