Pro Football Betting: Week 12 NFL Line Moves
by CarbonSports - 11/22/2013
The Colts and Lions are two teams that everyone seems to be high on despite some weird inconsistencies. They’re also playing two rising teams that are a combined 5-1 SU and ATS in the past three weeks. It’s hard to believe those two teams are Tampa and Arizona. Of course, we couldn’t talk about Week 12 without mentioning the Brady-Manning matchup on Sunday Night, so let’s get to it.
Basic Strategy Teasers: Best Options for Week 12
by George Monroy - 11/21/2013
Basic Strategy teasers had another solid showing on Sunday and ended with a 2-1 record for the week. The New York Jets were the only team that did not cover their teaser spread as they were blown out by 23 points. Both the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers easily covered their lines and ended winning by double-digit margin of victories. The teasers have an impressive 44-11 record on the season and are winning at an 80 percent rate.
NFL Handicapping: Have Falcons Given Up?
by Trevor Whenham - 11/21/2013
If you look up disaster in the dictionary, you see a picture of the 2013 Atlanta Falcons. They were viewed as legitimate threats to win the NFC by many, but there are college teams that could give them a run for their money given how they have been playing lately. They are 2-8, and they are lucky to have those two wins.
NFC East Weekly NFL Betting Picks: Week 12
by Dave Schwab - 11/20/2013
Philadelphia was finally able to snap a 10-game losing streak at home with a 24-16 victory over Washington this past Sunday as a 2.5-point favorite. The win moved the Eagles into first place in the NFC East at 6-5, but little breathing room exists at the top with Dallas coming off its bye at 5-5 and New York right behind at 4-6 after beating Green Bay 27-13 as a five-point home favorite.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 12 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/20/2013
The oddsmakers kept the total lines razor sharp last week in the NFL, with seven games going “over” the closing line and seven staying “under” and one game ending as a “push”. Fortunately, I was able to navigate my way through with a profitable 2-1 record for my top three plays in Week 11 of the NFL season. This raised my overall record on the year to 19-13-1 for a winning percentage of 58 percent.
NFL Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/19/2013
Wow, did Panthers backers catch a major break on Monday night or what? I personally picked Carolina to win that game, so I was glad to see the officials pick up what looked like a flag for defensive pass interference that would have given New England, down 24-20, the ball at the Carolina 1 with no time left.
NFL Week 11 Special Betting Props with Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/14/2013
On the one Bovada NFL special that was determined in Week 10, hopefully you followed my advice. That was on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles “over/under” two touchdown passes against Green Bay, and I strongly leaned over at +120. He had three and still hasn't thrown an interception this season with 16 touchdown passes. The site this week has an over/under of how many more TD passes he will throw before his first pick, with a total of 2.5 (over -130, under even).
Basic Strategy Teasers: Best Options for Week 11
by George Monroy - 11/14/2013
Week 11 of NFL action has three excellent basic strategy teasers for bettors to wager on. Two of the three games involve underdogs being pushed past the seven-point mark, and all three present excellent value for bettors to wager on. This season basic strategy teasers have won at an 80 percent rate and have been one of the best NFL bets of the year.
NFC East Weekly NFL Betting Picks: Week 11
by Dave Schwab - 11/13/2013
Philadelphia’s 27-13 victory over Green Bay coupled with the Cowboys’ meltdown against New Orleans last Sunday has both teams tied atop the NFC East at 5-5, with New York and Washington a game and a half back in the standings at 3-6. I predicted that this title race would go down to the final week of the season, with all four teams in the mix, and so far I have been right on the money just like I have been with my NFC East ‘Pick of the Week’. Last Sunday I jumped all over the Eagles against a toothless Packers’ offense for three units to raise my year-to-date record to 8-2 and my total earnings to $1,930 on a $100/unit wager.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 11 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/13/2013
After four straight weeks in which the “over” had the edge on the total line, points finally became a bit harder to come by in the NFL with eight of last week’s 14 games staying “under” the closing line. It was a week to forget for my top picks on the total line as all three ended up on the wrong side of the ledger. This performance put a major dent in my year-to-date winning percentage, but I am still well above .500 on the season at 17-12-1.
NFL Betting and Handicapping: Scouting the Week Ahead
by Alan Matthews - 11/12/2013
If Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't fire himself as the general manager after Sunday night's debacle in New Orleans, then he's never going to, and that's a shame for fans of the team -- but good for those betting against the Cowboys (hint: take the “over”).
2013 NFL MVP Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/12/2013
If he can stay healthy and avoid any major pitfalls then Peyton Manning is going to be named MVP when this NFL season ends. There is little doubt of that, and his -600 odds at Sportsbook.ag are a clear indicator of his dominance in this race. In the closing seconds of his last game against San Diego, though, we had a glimpse of perhaps the biggest threat to him winning the hardware — his own body.
NFL Handicapping: Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Foles
by Trevor Whenham - 11/12/2013
Nick Foles shocked the world two weeks back when he tossed seven touchdown passes against the Raiders. It was, at worst, the second-best performance by any quarterback all season. There was some obvious skepticism — was this a one-hit wonder like we say from Matt Flynn two years back?
NFL Handicapping: Flaws of the Major Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2013
Through 10 weeks of the NFL season, there are 10 teams with at least six wins. There is still plenty of football left to play, and anything could happen, but chances are fairly good that one of those 10 teams is going to be the Super Bowl Champions when all the dust settles. All 10 teams are varying degrees of very good, but none are close to perfect. Here’s a look at the biggest flaw of each of the 10 serious contenders in the NFL:
NFL Handicapping: The Sporadic New York Jets
by Trevor Whenham - 11/8/2013
The New York Jets are driving me crazy. I don’t really care about the team personally. I think Rex Ryan is a bit of a moron, but not so much that I care whether he wins or loses. As a bettor, though, I think I have handicapped this team incorrectly every week. It shouldn’t be that tough — they have followed every win with a loss all season long. Every time I feel like I have a sense of what to expect, though, they just prove me completely wrong.
NFL Week 10 Special Props Odds and Betting Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/7/2013
One of Bovada's Week 9 specials was whether the Eagles would score an offensive touchdown against the Raiders considering they hadn't in their previous two games. There were very long odds that the Eagles wouldn't again (+1000), and I couldn't recommend that unless somehow Nick Foles got knocked out early. Instead, Foles channeled his inner Peyton Manning and tied an NFL record with seven TD passes.
Good Bet, Bad Bet: The Best and Worst NFL Wagers
by George Monroy - 11/7/2013
The good teams in the NFL are always on bettors’ radars. By this point in the year every gambler knows about the Kansas City Chiefs still being undefeated and providing bettors with excellent value on the season. Every bettor also knows that the Denver Broncos score points at a ridiculous rate, and that they have not gone “under” their posted total once this season.
NFL Handicapping: Teams that Could be Different Down the Stretch
by Trevor Whenham - 11/7/2013
For serious bettors there is nothing better — and by that I mean profitable — than change. The betting public starts to get set in their ways when it comes to expectations of teams once a season is half over or more. Teams that have a good chance of playing significantly different than those expectations can create major value for bettors who are willing to look beyond the typical expectations.
NFC East Weekly NFL Betting Picks: Week 10
by Dave Schwab - 11/6/2013
The race to the division title is on in the NFC East with just three games separating first place from last heading into the 10th week of the season. In a rare twist, the Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins all came away with straight up wins last Sunday, with the Giants enjoying a much-needed bye. Both Dallas and Washington snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat, but Philadelphia steamrolled Oakland 49-20 on the strength of seven Nick Foles’ touchdown throws.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 10 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/6/2013
Scoring remained on an uptick in Week 9 of the NFL season, with nine of the 13 games going “over” the total. This was actually the fourth week in a row that the over play had an advantage. I went straight across the board on my top three picks with a record of 1-1-1. My year-to-date winning percentage on the total line now stands at 63 percent.
