NFL Division Odds: Taking a Closer Look Heading into Week 13
by George Monroy - 11/25/2014
The NFL season is 13 weeks old, and nearly every division is still up in the air with five of the eight groupings either tied or within a game of each other. The other three divisions are still relatively undecided, with the New England Patriots holding the largest lead in the NFL with three games, so any unexpected loss by a first-place team could keep each division race tight until the very end of the season.
Case of the Mondays: Beckham Overshadows Bryant, but Giants Lose
by Ricky Dimon - 11/24/2014
Odell Beckham Jr. made an unbelievable catch and had an all-around awesome game to take best receiver on the field honors away from the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant, but Beckham’s team could not quite seal the deal on Sunday night. The Giants blew a double-digit lead and dropped a wild one in Dallas 31-28. In Atlanta, meanwhile, another thriller saw the home team go down to Cleveland 26-24 in part due to some buffoonery by head coach Mike Smith.
NFL Handicapping: Betting Ramifications of Moved Jets vs. Bills Game
by Trevor Whenham - 11/21/2014
We get a lot of snow where I live, but I will never again complain about it (well, that’s not true, but you get my point). We have never seen anything close to what they have been hit with in Buffalo this week. Just think about this — the amount of snow that has fallen is deeper than the tallest player in the NBA. Almost as crazy are the pictures emerging Friday evening of snowmobiles picking up players at their homes and delivering them to a bus to the airport. Surreal.
Expert NFL Betting Picks: Weekly NFC East Predictions Week 12
by Dave Schwab - 11/19/2014
I thought last Sunday’s game between Philadelphia and Green Bay would have been a bit more competitive, but the end result served me well with a 4-Unit win on the “over”. This ran my record to 8-3 on the year for my NFC East ‘pick of the week’.
NFL Teasers Betting: Best Basic Strategy Options for Week 12
by George Monroy - 11/19/2014
Basic strategy teasers made a solid comeback during Week 11 by going a perfect 3-0 in all games that qualified. New England, Seattle and Detroit all managed to return a nice profit for those bettors that had jumped on the games. Heading into Week 12 there are two basic strategy teasers on the board, and both happen to involve the two best teams in the AFC—the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 12 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/19/2014
Anyone riding the “under” in last week’s NFL games cleaned up as that play paid off in 10 of the 14 games. I was finally able to carve out a 2-1 winning record with my top three picks on the total line for Doc’s Sports to snap my mini-slide. Overall, my year-to-date record for these free picks stands at 15-17-1.
2014 NFL MVP Odds and Predictions Power Rankings
by George Monroy - 11/19/2014
The 2014 NFL season is beginning to wind down after 11 weeks of exciting action. That is no reason to frown, however, because sports bettors can finally begin talking about the MVP race in earnest. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is, at the movement, the favorite to win the award, but at certain points in the season Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were on everyone’s’ radar as the top choice to bring home the 2014 MVP trophy.
NFL Football Predictions: Week 12 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/18/2014
There's always one week that that simply defies explanation in the NFL. I believe we just had our 2014 version with some of Week 11's surprising results. The big shocker was the Denver Broncos losing 22-7 at St. Louis. OK, the Rams had beaten Seattle and San Francisco, but holding Peyton Manning and Co. to seven points?? Manning's streak of 15 straight games with at least two touchdown passes ended. The Broncos had been the lone NFL team to go unbeaten on the road against teams with losing records since 2012, going 9-0.
NFL Handicapping and Betting: ATS Studs and Duds at Week 12
by Trevor Whenham - 11/18/2014
You can’t divide 17 by three. Not evenly, anyway. That means that you can’t accurately say that we are two-thirds of the way through the 17-week NFL season as we enter Week 12. If we look past middle school math, though, we can just accept that we have seen enough games played to learn a lot about which teams are strong against the spread and which ones have effectively burned money.
Free NFL Betting Picks for Sunday: Pro Football Totals Predictions
by CarbonSports - 11/13/2014
A pair of 6-3 SU teams meet in KC this week as both are trying to hunt down a top division rival. Seattle is looking up at 8-1 SU Arizona, while the Chiefs are behind 7-2 SU Denver, so getting a win this week is paramount for both sides. To do so, cashing in with touchdowns rather than settling for FG's is important for both sides as I believe we see the points rack up in this contest.
Expert NFL Betting Picks: Weekly NFC East Predictions Week 11
by Dave Schwab - 11/12/2014
I have been riding Philadelphia the past few weeks in my NFC East “pick of the week,” and it has been paying some huge dividends. This past Monday night’s 45-21 rout against Carolina as a seven-point home favorite raised my overall record on the year to 7-3.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 11 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/12/2014
This past week in the NFL, the play on the “over” had a very slight advantage on the total line, with seven of the 13 games going over the closing betting line. I started the second half of the NFL season with a sub-.500 record of 12-14-1 on my weekly total line picks for Doc’s Sports and unfortunately continued to head in the wrong direction with a 1-2 record in last week’s total line picks.
NFL Football Predictions: Week 11 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/11/2014
One of my best weeks of the year in Week 10 as I was 4-1 on my selections in this space last Tuesday, hitting on the Lions covering vs. Miami, the Cowboys doing the same against Jacksonville in London, the 49ers pulling an upset in New Orleans -- thanks in part to the Saints' game-winning Hail Mary being called back due to offensive pass interference on Jimmy Graham (it probably was the right call) -- and the Jets upsetting Pittsburgh. Stupidly, however, I thought Oakland could cover a big number at home vs. Denver.
Free NFL Totals Picks for Sunday Over and Under Betting
by CarbonSports - 11/6/2014
In late September these two NFC South rivals met on Thursday Night Football and it was an ugly game for Buccaneers fans from start to finish. Atlanta ended up winning that game 56-14 as they completely dismantled Tampa Bay on their fast indoor track inside the Georgia Dome. Well this week, fresh off a bye, the Falcons head out to Tampa to take on the Bucs in the rematch and I don't believe we will see the points come so easily this time around.
Expert NFL Betting Picks: Weekly NFC East Predictions Week 10
by Dave Schwab - 11/5/2014
Philadelphia paid the price in last Sunday’s 31-21 victory over Houston as a two-point road favorite with quarterback Nick Foles lost for six to eight weeks with a broken clavicle, but the win raised my record on the year in my NFC East “pick of the week” to 6-3 through the first nine weeks of the NFL regular season.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 10 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/5/2014
The total slightly favored the “over” play in last week’s NFL games, with seven of the 13 games going over the closing total line. I broke even for the week in my top three picks for Doc’s Sports at 1-1-1, but I failed to gain any ground on a sub-.500 record of 12-14-1 through the first half of the NFL regular season.
NFL Teasers Betting: Best Basic Strategy Options for Week 10
by George Monroy - 11/5/2014
The Green Bay Packers will headline this week’s basic strategy teasers wagers as they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday as a 7.5-point favorite. Week 10 will also have two other teasers featuring the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiving more than a touchdown’s worth of points at home. Basic strategy teasers are a two-team, six-point teaser that moves certain spreads past the strongest NFL key numbers of three and seven in order to anchor those new lines and create positive expected value. Let’s take a closer look at this week’s teaser options. All odds come from Sportsbook.ag.
NFL Football Predictions: Week 10 Opening Line Report and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/4/2014
New England's surprising blowout of Denver in Week 9's marquee matchup didn't actually change oddsmakers' minds about too much in terms of NFL futures. For example, the Broncos still remain +350 favorites at Bovada to win the Super Bowl. They just might have to win a game in New England now to get there as the Pats hold the potentially huge tiebreaker.
NFL Betting: Handicapping the Dallas Cowboys Losing Streak
by George Monroy - 11/4/2014
In the NFL fortunes can change in a matter of minutes—just ask the Dallas Cowboys. Two weeks ago America’s Team was sitting on a 6-1 record, which had fans and media members wondering how big a potential Super Bowl matchup between Dallas and Denver could become. The team was supposed to easily dispatch the Washington Redskins during a Week 8 “Monday Night Football” matchup, but the grid-iron “gods” had other plans.
NFC West Predictions and Betting Odds for Top Team in Standings
by George Monroy - 11/3/2014
Heading into the season we all knew the NFC West was perhaps the toughest division in the NFL and that it had three potential playoff teams and two Super Bowl contenders. At the end of Week 9 that consensus may have switched quite a bit after both Seattle and San Francisco began to struggle early, but the one thing that may not have changed is the fact that the road to the Super Bowl still runs through the NFC West.
