Bengals Odds to Go Winless with Expert NFL Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 11/15/2019
The Niners blew it in overtime last week to ensure we would have no 16-0 teams in the league this year. There is only one shot left at perfection in the league this year - the lowly Bengals. Cincinnati has roared out to an 0-9 start and has a real shot at going 0-16 to join the 2017 Browns and the 2008 Lions as the only squads to achieve that feat. Oddsmakers aren't optimistic that they can pull it off - they are at just +400 to go winless, compared to -700 to win at least once.
Expert NFL Handicapping: Path for Teams out of Playoff Hunt
by Trevor Whenham - 11/14/2019
There are still six or seven regular-season games left to play for every NFL team. A lot of action. Yet, for at least 12 teams in the league, the season is functionally over. They have nothing left to play for - at least in terms of any postseason chances. Really, the number is probably bigger than 12, but these squads are all the ones that I have absolutely no hesitation about putting in this group.
NFL Betting Advice: Super Bowl Hangover a Myth?
by Trevor Whenham - 8/30/2019
When the New England Patriots and L.A. Rams start their regular season this year, people will inevitably think about the Super Bowl hangover. Of course, most people don't really know what the Super Bowl hangover is - or at least not in a way that is useful. Does it really exist? Does it impact the Super Bowl winners as much as the losers, or more?
Expert NFL Handicapping: Best-Case Scenario for Each Team
by Trevor Whenham - 8/30/2019
Fans of every team in the NFL dream of winning the Super Bowl at this time of the year. They believe, in some dark corner of their soul, that it can actually happen. But the truth is that already there are only a small handful of teams that can legitimately win it all, and that number will only shrink as the season advances.
NFL Preseason Betting Advice and Tips
by Robert Ferringo - 8/1/2019
I used to think that betting on the NFL Preseason was somewhere between absurdity and insanity. Surely, only true degenerates and masochists are looking to put down actual money on a game that features fourth-string quarterbacks from the Mountain West running two-minute drills with receivers that will be moving furniture in a couple weeks.
NFL Training Camps: Trying to Answer the Biggest Question Surrounding Each AFC Team
by Chris Vasile - 7/30/2019
With the start of training camp upon us and the Hall of Fame Game approaching in less than a week on August 1, I thought now would be a great time to ask some of the key questions that each AFC team has to try to answer heading into camp. Don't get me wrong, every team has a laundry list of tasks to cover over the five weeks leading up to Week 1, but some teams are still in a better position than others, as you'll see throughout the list.
NFL Training Camps: Trying to Answer the Biggest Question Surrounding Each NFC Team

Will the NFL Super Bowl Feature Another First-Time Winner?
by Paul Buck - 7/27/2019
It has been a very unusual year in the sports world. In many of the major team sports, we had squads that were contenders at various junctures who finally rose to the occasion and won it all in 2019. The Virginia Cavaliers buried the ghosts of Ralph Sampson and last year's first-ever top seed opening-round loss (64 to 68 teams) by winning the prize in college basketball.
NFL Betting: Top Games for the Upcoming Season
by Chris Vasile - 7/26/2019
The 2019-20 NFL season kicks off in just over a week with the annual Hall of Fame Game between the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. A week later the NFL Preseason officially gets underway, and it couldn't have come at a better time. I was starting to get tired of watching teams crush home runs and allow their bullpens to blow leads in the later innings. The NFL season is the most highly-anticipated season of the year, and we have a slew of storylines to follow heading into the regular season.
NFL Betting Advice: Impact of Offensive Skill Player Moves on Handicapping
by Chris Vasile - 7/26/2019
With all due respect to the NFL, the NBA offseason and free-agency period has you beat by a mile. There was not a single day during the start of free-agency where basketball fans weren't at the edge of their seats refreshing Twitter to see which massive superstar was switching teams. The NBA is a league where that's possible, and unfortunately, football is not.
Strange NFL Betting Trends To Keep an Eye on in 2019
by Trevor Whenham - 6/21/2019
This is a rough time of year for football fans. The start of the regular season - never mind training camps - is a long way off. But all of the interesting stuff - free agency, the draft, the coaching carousel and so on - is all in the rearview mirror. We can pretend that we care about OTAs, but we know that no one actually does. With not a whole lot going on, we are forced to find ways to at least sort of scratch our football itch.
Expert NFL Handicapping: Teams with Best ATS Improvement Last Season
by Trevor Whenham - 6/12/2019
Basically, all I do in the time between the end of one NFL season and the beginning of the next is to look for different angles to break down the upcoming season. Some are truly useful, and I hope that this will fall into that category. Others wind up mostly just helping to fill the time until the start of the next season.
NFL Betting Advice: How Quarterbacks Performed ATS after Signing Big Contracts
by Trevor Whenham - 6/12/2019
This offseason we have seen NFL quarterbacks Russell Wilson (4 years, $140 million), Carson Wentz (4 years, $128 million), Nick Foles (4 years, $88 million) and Ben Roethlisberger (2 years, $68 million) get paid in a big way.
NFL Season Win Totals: Biggest Changes from Last Season
by Trevor Whenham - 5/22/2019
NFL season win totals have been out for a while now - long enough that the initial inaccuracies have been bet out of them, and they are where they are likely to sit until the regular season nears. It's a good time, then, to look at where we are at now, and how that compares to where they were at this time last year.
Oddsmakers Release Odds for 2020 NFL Top Draft Pick
by Trevor Whenham - 5/8/2019
The 2019 NFL Draft has only barely passed us by. That means that the 2020 Draft is still almost a full year away. And that there is both an entire college season for the prospects, and an entire year of the NFL teams making their needs and the urgency of them clear. But because, as sports fans and bettors, we are ridiculous, we can't help ourselves.
Most Interesting Quarterbacks Taken in 2019 NFL Draft
by Trevor Whenham - 5/1/2019
There were 11 quarterbacks selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. Chances are that a few will become good players at some level, perhaps one or two will become stars, and several will be completely forgotten by everyone but their mothers in just a few years.
Expert NFL Handicapping: New England Patriots Chances to Repeat
by Trevor Whenham - 5/1/2019
The New England Patriots have got this whole winning the Super Bowl thing figured out. They have done it three times in the last five years. But now they are faced with trying to do something that they - and everyone else - has failed to do since 2005 as they seek to repeat as champions. They head into the coming season as Super Bowl favorites at BetOnline, but it is lukewarm at best - they are only at +800, with the Rams at +900, and the Chiefs and Saints at +1000.
NFL Teams That Changed Most Through Draft
by Trevor Whenham - 5/1/2019
Our job here today is to look at the NFL teams that saw the most positive change for bettors through the NFL Draft. But before we do that, we have to put things into perspective. The only team that saw their Super Bowl odds change in the days immediately following the draft was Kansas City, and that was much more to do with the Tyreek Hill debacle than anything else.
Expert NFL Handicapping: Do Cleveland Browns Moves Make a Super Bowl Contender?
by Trevor Whenham - 3/19/2019
If you get claustrophobic in tight spaces, then you probably aren't going to enjoy being on the Cleveland Browns bandwagon right now. It's getting mighty crowded up there. It's not a surprise. The franchise has stunningly passionate fans, and those fans have been kicked in the teeth time and time and time again over the years. And now there is hope. Coming from all directions. More than they have seen, well… ever.
Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. Betting Props with Expert Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 3/19/2019
The NFL offseason finds way to get more and more interesting every year, and this year is already among the best we have ever seen -- and we haven't even got to the draft yet. Partly that is because the Super Bowl was so boring that anything looks better in comparison. But mostly it is because of all the fireworks that have been created, and chief among those have been the two big wide receiver trades.
