There is a five-way tie in the second quarter $60,000 mini-contest NU3672-1, Studley-1, Bzpoker119-2, Maybach-1, and Emppu-1. My picks went 4-0-1, which brings my season record to 27-12-1 (69.2%) good enough for 31st place in the standings after eight weeks.

We have reached the halfway point of the NFL season, and there is little margin for error for the Super Bowl hopefuls. Last week, we went 2-1 on our picks, bringing the season record to 13-11. After conceding the opening touchdown, the Dolphins stormed back for a 31-17 victory, covering the 9.5 point spread in the process. The Bengals won outright as 5.5-point underdogs, but we failed to complete the sweep as the Bears didn’t cover the 8.5 point spread in their Sunday Night loss to the Chargers.

There’s a three-way tie in the standings in the Circa Million V pro football contest between Castlerocker-1, DeadMoney-4, and ZeiwBruder-3 at 26.5 points (76.5%). ZweiBruder-3 (TwoBrothers in German) moved up to the three-way tie for first after going 5-0 in Week 7. Castelrocker-1 went 3-2 and DeadMoney-3 went 4-1, while my picks went 4-1. This brings my season record to 23-12 (65.7%) good enough for 104th place in the standings after seven weeks. The five consensus picks were 1-4 in Week 7: LA Chargers +5.5 (33.5%), Philadelphia -2.5 (32%), LA Rams -3 (32%), Cleveland -3 (32%), Tampa Bay -2.5 (29%).

Week 6 featured a leaderboard shake-up in the standings in the Circa Million V pro football contest. Perpetual leader Onebadmutha-1 dropped to 19th after going 1-4 in Week 6. Jwill-1 went 4-1 and took over sole possession of the lead with a 23-5-2 record (82%). Castlerocker-3 is in second place and avoided all the big upsets to go 5-0 and record a 23-6-1 mark on the season. My entry went 1-4 for a 19-11 record as I dropped to 312 place. The five consensus picks were 2-3 in Week 6: San Francisco -7.5 (43%), Cincinnati -2,5 (37), Baltimore -4 (29%), Tampa Bay +3.5 (28%), Indianapolis +4 (26.5%).

Week 7 is here, as the NFL hits the middle part of the season, and there is no more time for messing around from the Super Bowl hopefuls. We nailed all 3 of our picks last week, moving our season record to 11-7 against the spread with the sweep. The Ravens got our Sunday started off strong with a relatively sweat free cover in their 24-16 victory over the Titans in London. The Commanders took care of business against the Falcons, winning outright on the road, while the Jets not only covered the +6.5-point spread against the Eagles but took the Eagle's perfect record in a shock victory.

One Bad Mutha-1 (21-4), 21-points, is still atop the Circa Million V leaderboard after going 4-1 in Week 5. Ohio McGaha Bros., tied for first last week, went 2-3 this week and dropped to ninth place with 19 points. A total of 162 entries, or 3.1%, went 5-0 In week 5. My entry went 2-3, which was good enough for 17 points, dropping us to 44th place in the standings. The five consensus picks were 3-2 in Week 5: San Francisco (-3.5), Los Angeles Rams (+4.5), Buffalo (-5), Miami (-11.5), Atlanta (-1.5).

I am starting to really enjoy these teaser bets. We got ourselves back on the winning track this past weekend and now sit at 4-1 on the year on our NFL basic strategy teaser bets that pay out at (-120) betting odds. We had the New York Jets and the Houston Texans teased up to 7.5-point underdogs. Both of these teaser legs hit fairly easily, with the Jets winning their game and Houston losing by just two points on a late touchdown.

Five weeks down, 13 weeks to go. The standings are beginning to take shape, as the playoff hope for some teams has already quickly vanished. The favorites went 8-6 straight up in Week 5, and for the second time this season, all the favorites who won also covered the spread. We put together another profitable week, going 2-1 on our picks, moving our record to 8-7 on the season. The Panthers were unable to keep it close, as they got blown out of the water in a 42-24 beatdown at the hands of the Lions.

Despite going 3-2, One Bad Mutha-1 (17-3) is still atop the Circa Million V leaderboard, but is tied for the lead with Ohio McGaha Bros., who went 5-0, good enough for 17-points (85%) heading into Week 5. These two entries will split the combined first and second prize ($210,000) for the first quarter. There were four entries tied for third place. A total of 159 entries, or three percent, went 5-0 In Week 4. My entry went 3-2, which was good enough for 16 points at the quarter pole.

After a blazing 3-0 start on our teaser bets, we fell short in Week 4 when the Miami Dolphins couldn’t stop the Buffalo Bills in the red zone. The other underdog, the Seattle Seahawks, that we teased, won outright 24-3, though. That felt good, but we were way off on Miami.

The first quarter of the NFL season is now behind us, and it’s safe to say we’ve seen enough from each team to get an accurate estimate of where they are at. Favorites went 12-4 straight up, and 9-6-1 ATS. The favorites covered in 9 of the 16 games for the second straight week, but they weren’t able to light up the scoreboards, as the Over cashed in just 6/16 contests. Last week, we went 1-2 ATS, moving our season record to an even 6-6.

This entry also sits atop the leaderboard in the race for the $150K 1st Quarter MVP award, which ends this week. OBM’s sole loss was when the Cowboys failed to cover the -12.5 points against the Cardinals last week.
