Winning NFL Betting Advice: Tips on Thinking Outside the Box
by Jason Sharpe - 8/11/2015
The NFL remains king when it comes to the sports betting world. All week long we are hit with loads of information. It's day after day of what happened last week and also what to expect for the upcoming weekend of games. It seems that when it comes to the NFL, everyone has a strong opinion on it.
Odds for the 2015 Washington Redskins NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/11/2015
I think the 2015 season is going to be it for quarterback Robert Griffin III in D.C. That's because I expect him to continue his regression, for Coach Jay Gruden to bench him at some point and for RGIII to miss at least a few games due to injury because that's just what he does. Griffin enters camp as the starter but has to prove he is worthy of the $16.2 million option the team picked up for 2016. Look for RGIII to play at least a quarter in Thursday's preseason opener against Cleveland, by the way.
2015 Cincinnati Bengals Predictions: Season Win Totals Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/11/2015
The Bengals don't realize it. They can't. But the truth is that these are the halcyon days. They are The Good Old Days for some amorphous future. And instead of embracing and enjoying the best three- and four-year regular-season stretches in franchise history, the Cincinnati faithful are left to lament their lack of playoff success.
2015 Baltimore Ravens Predictions: Season Win Totals Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/11/2015
The Baltimore Ravens have been a model of consistency in the erratic world of NFL organizations. Baltimore has finished .500 or better in seven straight seasons, making the playoffs six times, and are a perpetual threat to win the AFC.
2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Season Win Totals Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/11/2015
Based purely on the preseason odds, the Steelers appear to be one of the top teams in the NFL and a "sleeper" team to win a banner or two. They are currently No. 9 in terms of odds to win the Super Bowl and tied for fourth in their odds to win the AFC. The Steelers won 11 games last season and boast one of the best offenses in the league. What's not to like?
2015 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Season Win Totals Odds and Picks
by Robert Ferringo - 8/11/2015
Oh, Cleveland, you bunch of utter incompetents. God bless you. We couldn't have consistently dominant franchises like Pittsburgh and Baltimore if we didn't have the other side of the coin. And the Browns are other side all right. The dark side.
Football Betting 101: Understanding Teasers and How to Use Them on Football
by George Monroy - 8/11/2015
With football season right around the corner, bettors should be looking to take advantage of every possible wager on the board by understanding what to bet, when to bet and how to bet. Most of the time the key to making a profit will be taking a straight spread or moneyline wager. However, expect the upcoming NFL season to provide many instances where a well-timed teaser is the best option on the board. Teasers are a simple, enticing and sometimes dangerous bet. Let's take a closer look.
Odds for the 2015 New York Jets NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/10/2015
The New York Jets hired former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as their new head coach this offseason to replace Rex Ryan, and I think Bowles is essentially going to try and turn the Jets into Seattle East. By that I mean win with a game-managing quarterback, punishing running game and great defense. Alas, I think the Jets only have the latter of those three.
Odds for the 2015 San Francisco 49ers NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/7/2015
USA Today this week released its projected win-loss record for all 32 teams - the site had Green Bay over Indianapolis in the Super Bowl. Not sure I agree with the Colts, but OK. We are here to talk about the 49ers, and they were projected to finish last in the NFC West at 5-11. Now, that I agree with.
Odds for the 2015 San Diego Chargers NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/6/2015
Definitely a transition season in San Diego. The team could be on the move to Los Angeles for 2016. Quarterback Philip Rivers is in the final year of his contract. The Bolts feel like one of those teams that could win 10 games or lose 10 and it really wouldn't surprise. Keep in mind that star tight end Antonio Gates, who might be in his final season, is suspended the first four games of the season for PED use.
Odds for the 2015 Atlanta Falcons NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/5/2015
Atlanta may still have Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White, but the team has undergone an overhaul after missing the playoffs last season for the second straight year. The biggest change was hiring former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as the club's new head coach, replacing the fired Mike Smith. He brought in Kyle Shanahan as his offensive coordinator, so expect the Falcons to run a bit more with his new zone blocking scheme.
Odds for the 2015 Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/4/2015
I actually think Jacksonville is on the right track as there is some good talent on this club. And it has the fifth-youngest projected starting lineup in the NFL. The Jaguars probably will start one rookie and five second-year players on opening day. Unfortunately, one rookie who won't be starting is Dante Fowler, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. The pass rusher from Florida suffered a season-ending torn ACL during workouts in May.
Odds for the 2015 Minnesota Vikings NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 8/3/2015
I know a lot of experts are high on the Vikings this season and believe they can make the playoffs -- but probably not win the NFC North division unless Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers gets hurt. The Vikings have what looks to be a keeper at quarterback in second-year Teddy Bridgewater. After a predictably shaky start to his rookie season, the final pick of the 2014 first round completed 72.1 percent of his passes over his last five games, the NFL's second-highest mark during that period.
Odds for the 2015 Baltimore Ravens NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/31/2015
It's a quiet Baltimore Ravens training camp, which is a nice change from last year when the Ray Rice issue was hanging over the franchise. "It's better this year than it was last year," said coach John Harbaugh, whose team had its first practice on Thursday. Really there are only two starting jobs up for grabs, the No. 2 receiver and tight end, the latter because of the serious injury suffered last season by Dennis Pitta.
Odds for the 2015 New York Giants NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/30/2015
Two interesting things to watch at Giants training camp. The first involves whether the team is going to sign Eli Manning to a massive long-term extension or let him play out his final season as San Diego is apparently doing with Philip Rivers. The team says it's willing to break the bank for Manning, and apparently officials have acknowledged that the front-loaded four-year, $87.4 million extension Ben Roethlisberger signed with the Steelers earlier this offseason is a template for Manning.
Odds for the 2015 Arizona Cardinals NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/28/2015
Pretty interesting news out of Arizona on Monday as the Cardinals hired Jen Welter as an assistant coaching intern for training camp and the preseason to work with inside linebackers. She is thought to be the first female coach of any kind in the NFL. She previously worked for the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League to coach linebackers and special teams and suited up as a running back and special teams player for the men's squad in 2014.
Odds for the 2015 Kansas City Chiefs NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/27/2015
I'm a stats guy -- I love interesting numbers. Statistics are more important and lasting in baseball than any other sport. We all know how many games Joe DiMaggio hit in a row or how many home runs Babe Ruth had or the last .400 hitter. Football just isn't like that. Tell me right now what the record for rushing yards in a season is? Or pass receptions.
Odds for the 2015 New Orleans Saints NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/24/2015
I have read more than one comparison linking last year's Dallas Cowboys to this year's Saints. How so? The 2013 Cowboys were 8-8 and missed the playoffs. They were a very pass-heavy team, with running back DeMarco Murray having a good-but-not-huge season. That offseason, Dallas upgraded its offensive line and relied more on Murray in 2014 as Tony Romo averaged 31.5 pass attempts per game, his lowest since his 2006. Murray was a monster, and Dallas was 12-4, winning the NFC East.
Odds for the 2015 Houston Texans NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/23/2015
If you ask me, there's only one true quarterback battle worth watching during training camp. Cleveland Browns? Don't make me laugh. New York Jets? Another funny joke. Buffalo Bills? Gag. Some might think there's a QB battle on the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's going to be Sam Bradford's job if he stays healthy.
Odds for the 2015 Detroit Lions NFL Road Schedule
by Alan Matthews - 7/22/2015
You know how they say you need to have some sort of nice balance between the run and pass in the NFL to be successful? Well, I'm not sure that's true any longer. In 2011, one of the two seasons Detroit made the playoffs this century, the Lions rushed the ball 356 times and had 666 passing attempts, completing 423 of them. Last year, when they returned to the playoffs, Detroit ran the ball 396 times and threw it 604 times, completing 365 passes. Last year, the Lions averaged just 3.6 yards per carry, their worst since 2003.
