College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/15/2012
Last week was another sensational one for the Ferringo 15, as our teams went 9-2 against the spread to post our fifth straight profitable week overall. That is now six of seven winning weeks overall by simply betting every team on our list, and the F-15 has been the best moneymaker in college football betting this season!
NFL Totals Betting: Week 11 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/14/2012
Parity in the NFL “over/under” line results continued for the fourth straight week as during this time frame 28 games have gone over, 25 games have stayed under and two games ended in a “push”. My top three picks last week took a downward turn to 1-2, leaving me at 11-8-1 over the past seven weeks and barely over .500 at 14-12-1 on the year. I have been back at it hard this week in an effort to turn things around with a few rock-solid winners for Week 11 in the NFL.
Weekly Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks: Week 11 vs. Redskins
by Dave Schwab - 11/14/2012
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins renew a long-standing NFC East rivalry this Sunday afternoon when the two teams clash at FedEx Field in a battle to get out of the basement in the division. The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on FOX.
College Football Picks: North Carolina at Virginia Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/13/2012
I would like to give you some great reason why this Thursday’s ACC stinker between North Carolina and Virginia has some national relevance, but I really can’t. However, it’s the lone college football game of the night, might be a better matchup than the Thursday NFL game between the Dolphins and Bills, and you can bet on it. So here’s your preview!
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Ohio Bobcats Week 12
by Aaron Smith - 11/13/2012
After starting the season 7-0, the Ohio Bobcats have now lost two of their last three games. Last week’s home loss to Bowling Green hurt the team’s chances of playing for a MAC title, but they still have an outside shot. They clearly can’t lose any more games, so the Bobcats must step up this week. Ohio will be in action in the middle of the week for the third straight week. They travel to take on the 7-3 Ball State Cardinals Wednesday night.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 12
by Dave Schwab - 11/13/2012
While the majority of the betting public is fixated on each week’s matchups between the top college football teams in the nation, I am more concerned with the mid-major teams that are fighting to win their conference or just to get into to a bowl with the mandatory six wins. This kind of motivation has a way of dramatically shifting the edge towards a particular side if you know where and how to look.
NFL Predictions: Texans at Bears Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/8/2012
If you’d looked on the schedule before the season started, this game probably wouldn’t have jumped out as what it has turned out to be — the game of the year to this point in the season. At 7-1 the Texans are the class of the AFC. Chicago, with the same record, is behind only Atlanta in the NFC, and is in a surprisingly strong position in their division.
College Football Picks: Fresno State at Nevada Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/8/2012
It’s a rare Mountain West Conference preview here at Doc’s as Fresno State and Nevada face off in the final kickoff of Saturday night. The two teams couldn’t be more different, and I don’t necessarily mean on the field. Fresno State is 9-1 ATS on the season, which is the second-best mark in the country behind 10-0 Utah State (off this week). If you have been backing Nevada all season, you are deeply in the hole as the Wolf Pack have one of the country’s worst ATS marks at 2-7. The script is flipped on the “over/under”: Nevada is among the best at 6-3 (Tennessee leads at 9-0) and FSU is 3-6 (Bowling Green at the bottom at 1-9).
NCAA Tournament Field Projections and Predictions, Nov.8
by Robert Ferringo - 11/8/2012
April is a lifetime away. And in between now and then I’m going to make a lot of wild and baseless college basketball predictions. But I thought on the eve of the season tip-off I would throw out some NCAA Tournament predictions and projections. Injuries, transfers, ineffectiveness, scandal, momentum and just the madness of college basketball will do everything to lay waste to these projections.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/8/2012
That’s now four winning weeks in a row for the Ferringo 15! The Ferringo 15 went 9-5-1 against the spread last week, and if you eliminate the Duke-Clemson matchup between two of our teams then the F-15 was a lucrative 8-4-1 at the window. That was a nice bounce-back after a barely profitable 8-7 ATS the week prior. Overall, our F-15 teams have finished the week in the black five times in the last six weeks.
NFL Week 10 Player Props, Leaders Odds and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/8/2012
With all due respect to Andrew Luck, the rookie story of the NFL for the past few weeks has been Tampa Bay Bucs running back Doug Martin, a k a the “Muscle Hamster.” The Bucs drafted the former Boise State star at No. 31 overall in this year’s draft, and it’s looking like the best pick of them all (I don’t count Luck or Robert Griffin III because they were locked into the top two picks). Martin had a nice opener for the Bucs with 95 yards on 24 carries as Tampa Bay beat Carolina.
NFL Totals Betting: Week 10 Over and Under Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 11/7/2012
Over the past three weeks of the NFL season, the oddsmakers have done a phenomenal job at setting the total line with 20 games going “over,” 19 games staying “under” and two games ending in a “push”. My top three picks last week went an even 1-1-1 to leave me at 10-6-1 over the past six weeks and 13-11-1 on the year. We all know that weather becomes more of a factor once November rolls around, so I am going out on a limb to forecast a three-game sweep for Week 10.
Weekly Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks: Week 10 vs. Dallas
by Dave Schwab - 11/7/2012
The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles clash this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in a crucial NFC East showdown that will most likely mean the end of the line for one of these teams’ season. The game is set to get underway at 4:25 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally by FOX.
Weekly CFB Mid-Major Betting Report: Ohio Bobcats Week 11
by Aaron Smith - 11/6/2012
Ohio bounced back nicely from their only loss of the season. The Bobcats took care of business last Thursday against Eastern Michigan. Ohio will be in action during the middle of the week again this week. They’ll host Bowling Green on Wednesday night in an important matchup of two top teams in the MAC. All year long, the mid-major betting report is focusing on the Ohio Bobcats. I’m following players on Twitter, reading reports from Bobcats beat writers, and going through all the team’s press conferences.
College Football Picks: Mid-Major Game Day Predictions Week 11
by Dave Schwab - 11/6/2012
The top college football teams in the nation continue to jockey for position for a favorable spot in the BCS rankings as the season winds down. However, I am more concerned with the mid-major teams that are fighting just to get into to a bowl with the mandatory six wins. This kind of motivation has a way of dramatically shifting the edge in a couple of matchups if you know where and how to look.
College Football Picks: Florida State at Virginia Tech Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 11/5/2012
Back in the summer, I certainly circled this Thursday’s game between Florida State and Virginia Tech as a likely dress rehearsal for the ACC Championship Game. FSU opened at No. 7 in the preseason AP Poll and was the heavy ACC favorite along with a national championship contender.
NFL Week 9 Player Props, Leaders Odds and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/2/2012
My first Week 9 props specials story featured a look at the futures of Cowboys coach Jason Garrett and Eagles coach Andy Reid. And it’s no coincidence that the job status of both is in question because their starting quarterbacks are struggling. So let’s look at a few Bovada specials on Tony Romo and Michael Vick.
NFL Odds: Cowboys at Falcons Predictions and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/1/2012
There is only one unbeaten team, and the Falcons have shown few signs of losing any time soon. They have played a couple of close games — strangely, at home against two of the weakest teams they have faced in Oakland and Carolina — but they have always found a way to get it done. This is a huge game for them — if they win here then the path to 11-0 or even 13-0 is relatively smooth. With each win they also come closer to all but wrapping up the NFC South title.
College Football Odds: Arizona at UCLA Predictions and Betting Picks
by Alan Matthews - 11/1/2012
Coach Rich Rodriguez might really be building something in the Arizona desert. Last week, his Wildcats (5-3, 2-3) stunned Southern Cal to end the Trojans’ national title hopes and put a dent in their Pac-12 title game chances. This week the Cats could pretty much end improved UCLA’s chances of winning the Pac-12 South for the second year in a row with another upset.
Sharpe Pointers for College Football Betting Week 10 (Plus Free Picks)
by Jason Sharpe - 11/1/2012
Betting on and winning at college and pro football can be a very tough task for those who don’t work full-time at it. I spend the entire week researching teams and game matchups, trying to uncover any edge I can find. I will be here each week to share some of my “tricks of the trade” and also offer other insights when it comes to beating the football betting market.
