College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 11/6/2013
Not much action for the Ferringo 15 last week as half of our clubs had Saturday off. The ones that did play went 5-3 against the spread. But if you discount the Florida Atlantic-Tulane game, which featured two of our F-15 teams, the official mark was a tidy 4-2 for the weekend.
NBA Predictions: Rockets at Clippers Odds and Betting Picks
by Dave Schwab - 11/4/2013
Two of the top favorites to win the NBA Western Conference this season clash this Monday night when the Houston Rockets invade the Staples Center to face the Los Angeles Clippers. Tip off for this early-season showdown is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET), and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBA TV.
NHL Predictions: Ducks at Rangers Odds and Picks
by George Monroy - 11/4/2013
Playing inside a home arena can do wonders for a team’s record and overall state of mind—just ask the New York Rangers. The team, who just finished up nine-game road trip to start the season, has won three straight games and completely turned around their season since being allowed to return back to Madison Square Garden. New York did not play their first home game of the year until Oct. 28 against the Montreal Canadiens and were near the bottom of the Metropolitan division with six points during that span.
NBA Predictions: Blazers at Nuggets Odds and Picks
by Aaron Smith - 11/1/2013
The Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets both have a very different looking team than they had last season. Portland was in the playoff fight for a while last year before losing their last nine games to finish at 33-49 on the season. Denver went 57-25, which was the best record in franchise history.
NFL Predictions: Colts at Texans Odds and Week 9 Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/30/2013
What an unbelievably bad week of NFL football we have been given in Week 9, with only one game matching teams with a winning record, and that's Monday night's Bears-Packers matchup. Since I preview the MNF games anyway, I had to find another one for Sunday. So I'll go with the prime-time matchup Sunday between the Colts and Texans in Houston. It's almost like Peyton Manning never left Indy, because the TV networks still love the Colts as this will be their third straight prime-time game.
College Football Predictions: Miami at Florida State Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 10/30/2013
I have spent much of this season being skeptical about this Florida State squad. On paper they were impressive, but Jimbo Fisher and company have been masters of not quite being what they should be. At this point, though, being skeptical would just be ridiculous. Beating Clemson on the road would have been impressive no matter how it happen. The fact that it was a total massacre, though, shattered all but the most stubborn skepticism.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/30/2013
The difference between another winning and losing week for the Ferringo 15 came down to Missouri’s epic collapse against South Carolina. Missouri was clearly the right side on that game, but the Gamecocks pulled the plug on what was becoming one of the best stories in college football.
NHL Predictions: Stars at Sabres Odds and Betting Picks
by George Monroy - 10/28/2013
The Buffalo Sabres may have just given up on the season and gone into ‘rebuilding-for-next-year’ mode after Sunday’s huge trade that sent the team’s best player and two-time 40-goal scorer Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders. In return the Sabres will receive forward Matt Moulson, a 2014 first-round pick and a 2015 second-round pick.
NHL Predictions: Rangers at Red Wings Odds and Betting Picks
by George Monroy - 10/26/2013
The New York Rangers may have hit rock bottom during a season that has already seen its share of lows through the first eight games of the year. The team only managed to score one goal during a loss to the league-worst Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday and may be in desperate need of reevaluating their roster not even a month into the season. The Rangers have only managed to scored 12 goals on the year, but they have allowed a whopping 26 through their first three weeks of action.
College Basketball Predictions: Coaches Poll Top 25 Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 10/25/2013
The NCAA Men’s college basketball season is set to start in a few short weeks, and already it is expected to be one of the most interesting seasons in recent memory. The Kentucky Wildcats are loaded with so much talent that is almost seems unfair, but the big question surrounding the team is if Coach John Calipari can turn that roster into championship material. The Kansas Jayhawks hit the jackpot by landing Andrew Wiggins, the biggest high school recruit since LeBron James, and are expected to compete for a title on that merit alone.
College Football Predictions: South Carolina at Missouri Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 10/24/2013
Last year Missouri looked completely outclassed and out of place in their new home in the SEC. Now they look like they own it — or at least they own their division. With a win here Missouri would all but clinch a spot in the SEC Championship. That likely means a showdown with Alabama that wouldn’t go well, but getting there would clearly be an amazing accomplishment in just the second year in the SEC.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/23/2013
The F-15 went 7-6 last week to follow up on its first dud of the year. Our No. 1 team (Oregon) and our No. 2 team (Washington State) actually played one another, so the rest of the F-15 went 6-5 for a slender profit. The betting public and the oddsmakers look like they have caught up to our top teams, but we’ll see if these ATS juggernauts can continue to produce.
NFL Predictions: Panthers at Buccaneers Odds and Week 8 Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/22/2013
I have a feeling if the Bucs didn't have a short week that Coach Greg Schiano might not be the team's coach today. Tampa Bay lost 31-23 at Atlanta on Sunday, a game in which Schiano strangely decided to have his team kick a field goal with five minutes left when the Bucs were down two touchdowns. What's the point there? Tampa Bay still would have needed two scores to tie.
NBA Predictions: Boston Celtics Futures Odds
by Aaron Smith - 10/21/2013
The Boston Celtics underwent a massive overhaul during the offseason. Last year’s 41-40 record and first-round exit in the playoffs just wasn’t good enough for this team. Danny Ainge saw the writing on the wall, and he decided it was time to move ahead slightly earlier than expected. Ainge started the rebuilding process by making the huge trade with the Brooklyn Nets during the offseason.
NHL Predictions: Sharks at Red Wings Odds and Betting Picks
by George Monroy - 10/21/2013
The San Jose Sharks are still undefeated in regulation nearly three weeks and eight games into the season. The team’s only blemish on its record was a 4-3 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars last Thursday. However, the Sharks’ first regulation defeat will probably come within the next few days as the team embarks on five-game road trip to close out the month of October.
NFL Predictions: Ravens at Steelers Odds and Week 7 Picks
by Alan Matthews - 10/17/2013
Quick, name the best rivalry in the NFL for the past, say, decade. If it's not Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers, I'm not saying you are wrong. At worst, though, Ravens-Steelers was the most heated and definitely most physical rivalry in football. Usually it was money in the bank to bet against either team the week after a game because they were both so banged up from just beating the heck out of each other for 60 minutes.
College Football Predictions: UCLA at Stanford Odds and Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 10/17/2013
It would be over the top to say that this is the biggest game that UCLA has ever played. There is little denying, though, that it is the biggest they have played since 2005. That was the last time that they were ranked in the Top 10, and they opened up 8-0 that year. They have some work to do this year to reach that mark, and it starts with this massive road test.
College Basketball Predictions: SEC Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 10/17/2013
The SEC may be the most high-profile conference in all of college sports. The team is dominant in football and currently has the top-ranked basketball team in the nation. The Kentucky Wildcats had one of the best recruiting offseasons in recent memory and are receiving the best national title odds in all of college basketball. Most experts believe that the Wildcats have NBA-level talent at every position and that come March the path to the national title runs through Kentucky.
College Football Power Rankings: Ferringo 15
by Robert Ferringo - 10/16/2013
It was an ugly week for the Ferringo 15 last week, as it plunged to just 2-7, with two games featuring teams playing against one another. I knew things had been going a little too well, and that is the Catch-22 of the Ferringo 15: our teams have the most value in the country, but eventually the rest of the country will catch up to them and take that value away.
NBA Predictions: Miami Heat Futures Odds
by Aaron Smith - 10/14/2013
The Miami Heat were only seconds away from being considered a failure. The San Antonio Spurs essentially had them beaten in Game 6 of the NBA Finals before Miami got a couple fortunate bounces and a massive clutch three from Ray Allen. The Heat proceeded to take care of business against a game Spurs team in the seventh and deciding contest.
